Eichel vs Larkin the future of team USA on display here should be a good one. -
Patrick Kane's point streak reaches 25 games
frankgrimes replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Well congratulations but nothing will ever come close to 51 in 51 games. -
The "sad" part is that it didn't work out for him here because I liked his energy. The other things are well beyond sad and tragically.

Rutherford and Johnston to me are the most surprising hirings in the past (aside from the Tortarella to Columbus one) of course. People were always saying give Jim a real budget and he could build a winner so far I haven't seen that his hiring of Johnston wasn't great and despite the Kessel trade he hasn't done much at all to restock their talent pool. I mean was Ray Shero really that bad? Yeah he kept Bylsma around too long and was quick to ditch first round picks but I still believe he is a better GM than Rutherford. Still can't believe the Pens didn't try to get Babcock. So much firepower and only 27 in goals scored that's unacceptable for such a high flying offensive team. I honestly believe if Sullivan can't get them into a playoff spot things might get ugly in the offseason.

Tootoo is a very good fighter in his own fight class but I agree if he were bigger that guy would be a lot more feared. Right now he is basically a very light version of MacIntyre, McGrattan. But I'm so happy for him that he has found his place in New Jersey it's such a sad story that it hasn't worked out here for him. Not sure if it was Babcock or Holland who decided it might be a good idea to take out the physicality of him but whoever is responsible for it was wrong here, when Tootoo was on and threw his body around he did create some energy. Ericsson is just a big massive hulking dude but he is also a decent fighter so that's why he doesn't have the intimidation factor of guys like Orr, Reaves, McGrattan or Looch but at least he is willing to stand up for his teammates and one of the few guys to dish out hits.

I'm still shocked by their start sure plenty of time to turn it around but man so much firepower upfront then Maata, Letang and Fleury jon the backend this team should be so much better it's not even funny. I wonder if they'll give Carlyle a phone call after the season guy would be the exact opposite of what they neeed

TSN: Pascal Dupuis retiring due to medical condition
frankgrimes replied to frankgrimes's topic in General
No it was Maxim Talbot with 2 goals one of it being off side -
Disclaimer: reading this article will make your blood boil over http://www.theplayerstribune.com/patrick-osullivan-nhl-abuse/ Tough to read and sadly he didn't kill his father in the fight because that's what that piece of trash deserved from day one. Abusing your kid because you think it will make him better? What a ******* psycho, also the other parents and his mother should be ashamed for not standing up to this animal. As a dad you gotta say something and then call the cops. Hopefully his so called father is going to rot in a small jail forever unbelievable. This whole story to me isn't about hockey-dads it's about hockey-psychos. Huge kudos to O'Sullivan for writing this.

What are the chances Larkin wins the Calder ?
frankgrimes replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
Lol his nickname is now McJesus? I've read McSavior McGretzky but McJesus takes the cake lol Panarin is playing on a stacked team has tons of pro experience and plays with maybe the hottest player in the league right now, Kane is riding an insane 20+ game pointstreak. I personally don't care if Larkin wins or not if he has a great season every Wings fan will know it an award doesn't change that. -
Thank you I like Glendening a lot he gets the job done sure he may not be flashy but he gets the job done and thats all I care about. As a plus side he isn't afraid of going to the dirty areas either and doesn't shy away from contact which is rare enough for this team.

My bad (now corrected) just googled it and indeed Kessel turned into Seguin and Hamilton

Here http://www.todaysslapshot.com/nhl-west/pacific/los-angeles-kings/milan-lucic-grateful-for-time-in-boston-move-to-la/- http://www.thesportster.com/hockey/top-15-dumbest-moves-of-the-nhl-offseason/?view=all - http://www.therichest.com/sports/hockey-sports/top-10-best-selling-nhl-jerseys-of-2013/?view=all It's okay you are free to cheer for another 160 lbs player...if you want.

Well Boston used to be one of the most entertaining teams in the league but with the loss of Looch and Thornton that's sadly gone. This team could have been a contender for years to come if they didn't trade away their future in Seguin, Hamilton. Looch was the face of that franchise. Don't know if the system is simple or not it seems to be a good fit for Ferraro and I for one like that.

Jeff Blashill = Dave Lewis 2.0 / Coaching Change
frankgrimes replied to The Secret's topic in General
I believe the people who thought he should have been fired after what 8 games expected way too much too soon. If a coaching change happens it will take time for him and the team to click, good coaches are able to adjust their systems others are stubborn and try to get a round circle through rectangular shelf. Blashill is a good coach - there is a reason why so many teams were interested in his servicces - will he be a great coach one day? Who knows but I like him and still can't figure out if its him or Babcock talking without watching a video, that's just funny. But I will say this, people seem to have way too high expectations again like top 2 in the Atlantic I mean is it really that important? It would be nice for a change if this team doesn't have to crawl through the last games in order to make the playoffs (if they even make it). There is still a lot of hockey left, injuries could happen or someone falling of his peak performance so let's keep it realistic and be happy that Tatar, Goose are clicking. -
why can't people just be happy for Ferraro yeah it's sad that it didn't work out here but seems to be a good fit in Boston good for him
-
lol Yeah have Torts coach and then ice McGrattan, Orr and O'Brien lol let them have a line brawl and then walk to each other's locker room Torts would go bonkers Oh an have McKee on the rookie team
-
same here let them rest and be healthy for the playoff push it will be tough enoughHow cool would it be to have Orr, Scott and McGrattan there

Disney Buys Star Wars, 3 New Films Coming
frankgrimes replied to MabusIncarnate's topic in Water Cooler
I must agree thought we would be seeing a singing Luke Skywalker and tons of CGI.I love the look of the storm troopers and that red lightsword looks badass. -
what's the problem it's a voting contest and if the game want Scott so be it. But he already declines by saying he thinks it's some kind of a joke and hopes it dies down If the NHL hasn't figured out that a voting contest isn't the way to go maybe think again and have the GMs,coaches voting

It's an awesome read. Guy seems like a bit of a hothead on the ice but class guy of the ice. http://www.theplayerstribune.com/shane-doan-coyotes-hockey/ Just a few highlights, Doan seems to really love being captain. I agree with him the fans who are still showing up there deserve all credit in the world but yeah in the end it won't be enough and the team will be on the move soon. I also like the fact how he isn't just thinking about himself but also his family when it comes to trades.

I think Trouba is (sadly for us), in the same category as Ekblad which means untouchable. Myers would be awesome but the Jets just traded for him they aren't dumbing a potential Chara light. Why are people saying Toews has no offensive skills? The guy scores when it matters and has an eye for his linemates that's plenty of offensive ability. Hamonic is not going to happen, he wants to go to a western Canadian team the Oilers should be all over it for the right price of course. Thanks to salary cap getting a number one defender has become almost impossible. Too bad Giordano re-signed with the Flames would have been a nice addition. Anyhow if Larkin keeps developing at his insane pace he will provide us with a lot of joy for at least a decade.
-
Wow that would be incredible cool I think we'd be the second team, since the Habs had that French only captains and A's policy some years ago. But yeah Larkin is very special but Ekblad is probably the most untouchable Panther right now, guy has future Norris winner written all over him. Like I said there is no way I'd be dealing Larkin for a realistic return right now, neither would I trade Mantha. But with the exception of Danny D. some package will be needed to get that top pairing guy even if it means dealing one of Goose, Tatar, AA..
-
Probably and early game of the year candidate that was just sick wow
-
Not that it would ever happen, that guy will retire in Chicago but Toews would instantly the best player on the team and improve the changes of winning a cup in the Z, Pasha era tremendously. If Larkin even turns out to be a Toews lite that would be fantastic. If Crosby and Stamkos keep struggling this year (which I think they won't), he should honestly be in the discussion for the best player in the world. Elite defensively, tremendous leadership, the bigger the game the better he plays...man if Larkin could be something like that in his prime wow. I don't care who is "on pace" for what or how many shots someone has... I'd also be very happy if he turns out to be a very solid top 6 center The hype for Mantha last year was equal (before the season) and after he struggled - which is to be expected when coming back from a serious injury - the same people who hyped where ready to move on from him. And sadly I could see the same reaction happening again if Larkin has (which will happen) a bit of a rough stretch at some point this season. Well look at whom Eichel is playing with, I really don't know how much more perfect he needs to pass so his linemates can finally convert their chances. In terms of McDavid well he is hurt now so tough to say but there is no question Larkin so far! deserves to be in the calder conversation. The bolded part is the whole point, no GM would give up any of the names mentioned in this thread for Larkin and his realistic value is that he is worth way more to the Wings than the (realistic) return would be, so it's a no brainer. The number 1 center vs number 1 defenseman is like the chicken and egg theory both are needed and are incredible hard to find. But yes the Wings will need a future top 6 center because Pasha will be gone soon and Z is aging.

http://www.tsn.ca/trade-bait-johansen-available-in-columbus-1.399379 Guy would be an absolute sensation, young, big and with the development of Larkin our post Z and Pasha center future would be set for years to come. guys like this don't make it to UFA anymore btw. good job Tortarella not even a month in and players are already asking to be traded what a great hire by Kekailainen
