Took the words out of mouth. I'm extremely happy for him and surprised by how well he is handled the NHL so far but keep in mind it's a very small sample size against argueable the 2 worst teams in the east. If Larkin can keep this up and doesn't look out of place after his 8 game the Wings will have to make a hard decision. Personally I think the notion that a 18, 19 old can't learn anything in the AHL is false. Jonathan Toews ! of all people wanted to go back to the AHL because he felt he wasn't ready (mentally and physically). The AHL isn't a bad league it's a development league and a very good one at that. So wheter Larkin will stay past his 9 game stint or not one thing is for sure the Wings have one heck of a prospect in him.

I think they'll be closed because it technically is like poker just with "real" sports-stars.

Green is supposed to help out the defense, period. If he can't do that without Danny D. then there is a problem -
there is a reason why many are saying the Habs are going as far as Price can take them. He for sure will need some help from the offense sooner than later. I don't get the Looch hate yeah that spear was disgusting and he should be ashamed that's not how real men are playing but denying that he can be a brute force on the offense when he's on is false. Looch is at his best when he plays angry and with a chip on his shoulder.

Some of us would kill to have this fool on the team, he is exactly what the Wings have been missing for way too long. A big, rugged, nasty powerforward that will score you 20 + goals each year.

I think we are going to go there once that happens as of right now nobody knows if Larkin will stay or not. But if he is good enough then I guess Holland will try to package a few players (Jurco +) to land us another defender.

Couldn't agree more just look at another team and some of their young guns are deemed ready but are sent back by Lamoriello and Babcock to even learn more. Don't get me wrong I'm extremely happy for Larkin he has worked his butt off and earned this chance but I think once the season gets going it will be tough for him to keep up. The Crosby's and Bergeron's of the world in pre-season form are not the ones he is going to face night in and night out in the NHL. His talent level is awesome as is his performance but going straight to the NHL is an unreal beast for a 19 year old..not named Eichel or McDavid (both are going to take the NHL by storm). Even if it's just temporally it would have made more sense to let him develop chemistry with Mantha and destroy the AHL and come up when he's fully ready to stay up for good and not get send down again.

1. Blashill wins the Jack Adams 2. Roman Josi the Norris 3. Kessel scores 44 goals

No from my understanding you basically aren't a part of the team for the time of the suspension, hence why the Kings got fined for having that animal at practice during his suspension. Personally I think even if they suspend Torres for 400 games he just doesn't get it.
-
Fair point but we all knew it wasn't going to happen, a broken jaw or nose would have put him out of the game too. Everyone knew Weber just like Malkin back in 2009 would get away with more stuff becauses they are star players. Should there have been a suspension? Heck yes but after nothing was done Wings should have taken justice into their own ends and signed someone to "talk" to Shea Weber about it. Big Bert at that point of his career was sadly to old and because of his history couldn't go out of his way to knock some sense into Weber. But like I've said last year if you are tough enough to go after a smaller player (who doesn't drop the gloves) you are tough enough to replay to the Orr's, BigErns of the NHL too. I mean, it's almost 3 years and I'm still made as hell about that non suspension si I'm even more surprised Mr. I, Ken Holland nor Babcock went ballistic about it. Just read some Sharks forums and some of them think the appeal will reduce it by 20 games 8yeah sure).

Gustavsson is one of the saddest what could have been stories. Guy is coming over to a whole new country after losing his mum, then gets rushed to the NHL because Toskala can't stop a beachball and after some injury problems Reimer takes over (who is now the next whipping boy there) in such a media crazy market. Through all of that Gus never complained and just fought through it like a man - I wish him nothing but the best of luck in Boston. I hope he can have some great games there and get another contract next year, god knows this guy deserves some luck.
-
This has to be one of the most uncanny NHL off-seasons in the last few years or maybe ever. Guys who are 29 - 31 are looking for jobs and having to take PTOs, a former top 4 pairing guy hitting waivers after 1 year of his contract (still 30 million are remaining) and not one blow me away UFA contract.
-
I'm very happy for him, guy had such an amazing camp but on the same token I'm kinda sad in terms of (maybe) the Wings are rushing him. Pre-season is one thing but this week it's go time and would have prefered to see him center the Mantha line in GR. Anyhow I guess it's only temporally till Pasha is back having him center the 2 line would be a lot to ask out of Larkin so soon but you never know. As far as him being the next face of the franchise I think it will be between Larkin & DannyD I mean when was the last time the 2 faces of this franchise were all from michigan and probably the best center and defender of the team in the future? That's so freaking cool, I may think Holland has lost his fire and question how his builds the team in a very softish way but him and the help of our perfect human really nailed the Dekeyser signing.
-
Well would have Weber done it if we had a guy that would have made him pay for it? I don't think so yes, it's the NHL's fault but just imagine if he did that to Z back in the haydays of DMac or Kocur. I think the suspension is more like a last "get your act together" message to Torres and some sort a reward for his "lifetime accomplishments". I mean the hit itself wasn't worth 41 games but the history of this headhunter, him going out of his way (through 2 Sharks, 1 Duck) to make that hit in a pre-season game makes this very justifyable. I'm betting he will appeal this suspension and even go to the court if Bettman upholds Quintal's decision. So the whole Torres story is not ever yet far from it.

about time it's pre season and he could have held back. Now he has 4 months to think about it.

I wonder whose sarcasm meter is shot here? I actually agreed with him and added another layer of sarcasm maybe less caps typing, 1 or 2 question marks instead of 1.000 would have helped you detect that. Mr. cattle = Devellano -

Yeah what a disappointing player let's trade him because he had the guts to need recovery time after a broken leg...right Mr. Cattle -

Why are they showing baseball f****** Rogers go back to hockey doubt anyone in Canada cares about the mlb with hockey so close to return. -
I think this could be easily doable by using undisclosed injuries. Everyone knows the roster is for the most part set and if a player has an undisclosed injury he can't play, period. Having Danny D out is a real bummer he is our most reliable defender
