Jim Devellano on Mantha's play: "Very disappointing"

Nobody - at least to my knowledge - expected him to be that. Once again guy has played his first pro season after coming back from a broken leg, that's not an easy task. Also Mr. Devellano should focus on his advisor (or whatever his role is) job, instead of slamming players through the media. Also Leafs Lunch today had a nice discussion about that and I think they did have a point: Wings front-office might get a bit desperate here and sadly realize that the current group is able to get into the playoffs but not further than the 1 or 2 round without much needed youngish topplayers and how do you get them ? Through the d raft by picking in the top 5 Ok so Mantha needs to hit the gym like crazy and other players don't Mr. Devellano ? There are almost 4 months off everybody needs to work on something be it bulking up, get quicker, lose weight or whatever so to single him out is a really dumb thing and absolutely unncessary.

If that's the case I'm sure others will pay even more after such nice comments

Jim Devellano on Mantha's play: "Very disappointing"

That's actually a good point but it goes both ways, someone who already has size will bulk up even more. I mean sure if gems like Pasha are available, size isn't even a question because that guy has magic hands and an unbelievable work ethic.

    Free agents this off season

The biggest trade I can think of would be Phaneuf, I mean which other top 4 defenseman is available ? Also I don't think you can write this into a contract, what if it falls through does the contract get voided or something ?

Jim Devellano on Mantha's play: "Very disappointing"

Wouldn't then a player with size the better bet ? I mean if he doesn't work out skillwise you can still use him as a grinder/checker ? I hope the Leafs and Wings meet somewhere in the middle and get this deal done, it would benefit both clubs. If Holland adds a little sweetener and the Leafs give up a bit on the asking price it should be doable.

At What Point Does Holland Deserve Blame?

Everyone not named Z, Pasha (we wouldn't get a good price back and it would be classless to trade them), Kronner and Howard.

Unloading a bunch of players that can be replaced by younger ones and keep a few veterans to guide those kids. But starting 2016 the top 3 picks will go into the lottery so the worst team could end up picking fourth.

That's not what I'm saying I've said I would trade the streak every time in order to get one of these players. McDavid is a game changer, Hanifin could become another Keith and well Strome a Backes light. Tanking alone in most cases won't help but being bad in a McEichel year isn't that bad at all we'll sadly find out soon with buffalo drafting Eichel and Toronto getting Hanifin which will give them a Rielly - Hanifin top pairing for at least 10 years

Jim Devellano on Mantha's play: "Very disappointing"

Calling him out like that is 1. Unnecessary and 2. Embarrassing guy came back after a broken leg and went into his first pro season. Heck I'd trade Nyquist, Tatar before trading Mantha guy has the size and skill to become a power forward.

Well the problem was that Shero has tied his future to Bylsma and since they've failed again both were fired although Shero hasn't done a bad job. Hate to admit it but after the Pens win the Stanley Cup I've thought they'd be on the verge of becoming a dynasty. Firing a coach and GM brings in different challenges that's why it usually isn't done until qualified Preston's persons are available either in-house or from the outside Also I would trade that ever so important streak for the chance to draft a guy like McDavid, Hall, Hanifin or Strome and not having to worry about the two most important positions for another decade...instead if clinching on to a streak and going out in the 1 first round and therefore not getting a top pick.

Way to stick up for a great prospect after coming back from a broken leg...

Call Out the NHL on BS

For me it is really simple I know what I like and I also happen to know what I dislike/hate and one of these things is change for the sake of changes. For decades ! hockey has been seen as a niche sport for a niche audience and there is nothing wrong with that, so why not play to the strength of an already established audience of fans ?! I don't care if some people are turned off by physicality, fights or tight defensive systems because if they are guess what ? Watch something else that's the beauty of choice. When players are reaching the point where they don't even know what is and what isn't a penalty and what leads to a suspension and what doesn't then the league does much bigger problems than putting out some pro-made videos trying to find reasons for suspensions. I don't care if it's understandable for me but the point is it should be understandable for the players, coaches and GMs because they are the product so to speak. I've said it before and I'll sayit again there are so many advantages of being and niche sport and having that audience basically locked up (I mean 3 lockouts and some fans went right back to paying for NHL stuff again), so why not do the things the existing things want and expect ? If things I happen to like are changing for the worse damn right I'll call the responsible people out for that especially if they don't have any skill nor respect for that great game of icehockey.

Well we have Kronner as the number 1, so Phaneuf could slide in as a number 2 or even a nice complementary piece to pair with DannyD. I also think he is the best available one because 1. I think Seabrook will stay with the hawks and 2. Green is another risk because of his injury history

WCSF : (8) Calgary Flames vs. (1) Anaheim Ducks

Flames need to bring in experienced players with size. Fortunately, with Big Ern and Gillis there are two absolute beasts in the ahl..This should shift the physicality and size If you have to lose, lose with style

ECSF: Tampa Bay Crying Coopers vs. Montreal Complaining Canadiens

Disappointed in Prust he is by far the most likable Habs player he doesn't need to act like that. But man do I ever love the Bolts destroying them, Stevie has done an unbelievable job this team is young and overloaded with talent. Paquette and Brown are bringing the size, grit Bolts for lord Stanley !

I don't respect the opinion of traitors and working for that bastard hajamo is exactly that. Kurri is sounding like he wants to advertise the KHL here.

Call Out the NHL on BS

    1. NHL Front Office is run by guys that know nothing about hockey and therefore shouldn't have the job. 2. Hockey is on the verge of becoming as sissylike as soccer: fights are down, hits are down and players don'tr even know which hit is a suspension and which isn't because there is no consistency in their decision and most seem to be based on throwing a darts at the wall. 3. There are too many regulations and rules in place to make life difficult for owners and GMs . Back in the late 90s and early 2000's this game was way better and much more entertaining, period. I mean when the best GMs in the game are struggling due too many rules and regulations something needs to chane, period. Add to that the almost 0 entertainment and excitment for free agency and there are even less things to look forward to. I fully agree I hope oneday is someone comes out and call out the NHL for all the crap that's going on, would love someone like Super Mario or Wayne doing that.

Well the Leafs can always take back another bad contract to even the caphit. As much as people like to question Phaneuf he is tasked to play over his capabilities in Toronto I honestly believe he would do well here. Which other realistic and not too expensive option is available ? Boychuck is re-signed and I highly doubt the Hawks will make Seabrook available anytime soon.

Neely said he wants them to be the big bad Bruins again and when they play that way they're entertaining to watch. But they need to figure that chara thing because if not they'll have even more defensive trouble. Charlie made it very clear on what the expectations are there no way he does allow them another season like this year..Julien if they keep him is on a short leash. I expect the Bruins to come out hard and push for the playoffs as will Philly.

At What Point Does Holland Deserve Blame?

This team hasn't seen the third round since their last scf appearance. They are hanging on to making the playoffs while the 2 remaining stars are aging fast.Changes will be needed because Boston, Philly well for sure get better ..buffalo has a ton of talent plus they're adding Eichel plus the 16 draft isn't as good as this one. Tough position to be in

Things you would like to see for 2015-16 Season

Don't want him either. He will command a huge salary and with his injury history I don't think he'll be worth it. Rather have Phaneuf who provides some offense but also some much needed physical presence to the back-end.
