What's the problem with Backes ? I mean isn't this guy the prototype of an NHL player ? Big tough, hard working and very skilled ? I'd love to have someone like him on the Wings. I really don't know why Backes is struggling in the playoffs seems like they would be exactly tailored for him.

This series has to be one of the most unpredictable ever, it's either one teams shows up and the other doesn't or if the team decides to show up it's already to late. Would love to see both teams giving their best at the same time maybe it happens in game 7. Mrazek needs to work on his consistency and overcommitment plus puckhandling, he can't always be that aggressive sure, sometimes it works but sometimes - every other game ? - it doesn't.

Yeah they could really need a veteran who has been there done that. On paper this team should at least make it to the conference finals in a year, where the best team in the West hasn't made the playoffs (= LA Kings). Allen is only 23 old so I'm not blaming him, could he have been better ? For sure but that goes for all the team and sadly Backes, Steen didn't show much against the Wild in this series. I think Armstrong will try to build another core around Pietrangelo, Tarasenko, Schwartz and maybe trade one of their big guns man if Backes would become available that would be just awesome. He is exactly what this team needs, big tough powerforward who will create space for smaller forwards.
