March 26, 2016 Red Wings Vs. Peguins on FSD. 7-2 pens win. Micky Redmond openly discussed Datsyuk returning to Russia next year. Micky said the only thing that may keep him here is the fact he loves playing with Abby and Mantha. recaps of the discussion: http://redwingsnow.com/players/will-red-wings-datsyuk-return-russia-after-season http://hfboards.hockeysfuture.com/showthread.php?t=2052435

It was provided. You of course don't like it and try to dismiss it. Go ahead. The statement by Datsyuk was made, it was discussed at length last spring on this forum. Again, Merry Christmas!

Yup.

No Chris Nilan on TSN, who of course got it from our broadcasters. But hey only LGW approved sources count right.....

Nice win. This was the second game in 3 were the team played hard all game long. Yes a ton of mistakes but a win is a win.

Watching Coreau play tonight shows why I think we need another G. he is not that good. At 25 how much more developing is there? Now the 3rd round is where there are a ton of Dman that will be available. Most rankings/mock drafts have 15+ dmen going from 50th to 75th. That is a bunch. That is where we will be picking with the pick we got from Tor. Here are a few of the guys I like: Scooter Brickley 6-3/190 Rhed, plays for Muskegon, Michigan kid, committed to WMU for college next year. Jacob Paquette 6-2/200 LHed, plays for Kingston. Jockton Chainey 6-1/200 LHed p[lays for Halifax. Luke Martin 6-2/200 RHed, plays for the USN U-18 team, committed to U of M. Max Gildon 6-3/195 LHed plays for the USN U-17 team Tommy Miller 6-2/195 RHed, plays for the USN U-18 team, committed to MSU There are of course others. Point is, lots of good D prospects in this area of the draft. Grab 1 and go.

Blah blah blah troll blah blah blah troll blah blah blah Merry Christmas everyone! We were all here last srping when we all went through all of this. It was discussed heavily on detroits talk radio, Micky talked about it during the games, and I can't remember if it was Keating or Trevor talking about in the studio. But hey whatever. Heck I even found a mention of the "swedish mafia" on this forum from April 12th or 13th of this past year in the Mantha thread. But again what do I know. As for credibility in an online forum? LOL!!!!!!!!!!!

Which End of the Ice Do you Find Most Frustrating?
Richdg replied to bringbackfontez's topic in General
To date we are middle of the pack in terms of goals allowed. But we are near the bottom in goals scored. The PP is completely useless. If we are a middle of the road team offensively we are a playoff team. But after last nights games we are the 5th worse team in the NHL. We are 2 points from the bottom of the EC. -
Depends on how he is getting the PIM's. There have been many NHL players who were admired for their fencing abilities! LOL Besides, we have to many guys that are flat out afriad to even think of doing something borderline/against the rules. Many people like Tatar because he shows some fire and passion. This team is stale in every way. We could use some undisciplined players.

Go back and find it. It was WIDELY reported everywhere that Datsyuk asked to play with him. Not only asked to play with Mantha, he ENJOYED playing along him.
-
Yup. The fact that Datsyuk asked to play with Mantha and Holland/Blashill sent him down was pure 100% BS. You do have to wonder how much things like that effected his retiring......
-
At best he could be a backup. Most likely he isn't that good, nor is he that young. Remember I was talking about 5 years from now. Coreau will be 30 at that point. Not old, but if he isn't making it with us soon, he will leave to play somewhere else. It is also an unknown if Mrazek is a start for us. There are no sure things. Until a player comes into the league and has multiple good seasons we can't say that they are a star or even a solid NHL player. As for Svechnikov he is playing great. Any writer that thinks a guy has made it or failed after their first 25 games as a pro hockey player is a total fool. Most players need at least 1 full season to adjust to the NA pro game. How many Euros have dominated their pro leagues in europe and struggled here? Most do. Jumping from Juniors or College to pro hockey is a huge leap. He is on pace to score 20+ over a full season. Nothing to complain about at all. He kills penalties and plays on the PP, so clearly his coach likes him. Bob and Larry love the guy and his attitude. Spent 10+ mins during the game last night expressing their man love for him. Did the same thing with Smith about 10 days ago as well.

Ok you might be getting confused. I am not sold nor am I writing off Mrazek. he is still young enough and has time. What he does and which way he goes is yet to be seen. He has talent. But so do a lot of people. What they do with it is the unknown.
-
Not sure what you are asking? Do I think Coreau is a AHL G at the high end? Yes. Do we need to find a backup for Mrazek? yes. Is it possible we need to find a starting G? Yes. So I am not sure what you are confused about......... It is the holidays so drink up! LOL

Offense. We spend time in the O zone. We don't score. Many reasons for this. Lack of front of net players, to many guys with limited offensive skill but are given top 6 minutes: Glendening, Helm, Sheahan. The the old guys that have fallen off at a faster rate than the young guys have developed. We have 200ft players that don't play O, so they really are not 200ft players. The only natural goal scorers are Mantha, Vanek, Z, and Larkin. -
We draft not for today but for down the road. Do a best guess lineup for the 2021/22 season-ie 5 years from now. You will have something like this: Mantha-Larkin-???? Svechnikov-AA-????? Abby-Neilsson-Jurco Lil Bert-Sheahan-Smith McKee/Glendening/Turgeon/Others in our system. That creates 2 top 6 openings with our #3 C playing his final year at 37. So we really need to find 3 more high end F's. Dekeyser-A true #1 Dman Oullett-Sproul Cholowski-Marchenko Saarjivari/Jensen/Others in the system Need at least 1 more high end Dman Mrazek/?????? Does Mrazek become a true #1? Who is his backup? Of course this depends on every last one of these guys making it and none turning into a bust. The chances of that are about 0%. So yes we need to draft players at every position.

MANtha is on pace for 20+ goals in his first NHL season. Even though he didn't play the first 15 games. Not bad at all.
-
Don't know who write such an article. Nor do I care. Again, watch the kid play. He is better than half the F's on the RW's now. Only going to get better. Let me guess, the same wirters that though Mantha sucked in his first year after breaking his leg? LOL.....
-
Only on video tape. He died when I was 1. he was my second fav G of all time, even though he was better than my fav-Billy Smith.
-
Coreau isn't that good. A career backup at best. Now 1 guy I do hope to see in detroit real soon is Svechnikov. He is doing good in his first year with the Griffs. Had 2 goals tonight and on pace for a 20+ goal season. I would love to see him get a good look/taste of the NHL for 12-15 games at the end of the year. His 1st goal tonight was awesome. Ran over 1 defender, skated around another to score on a backhand through the 5 hole. He showed his size/power, speed/skating, and great hands all in 1 play. On a side note, he leads the griffs in PIM's.

I didn't think an in his prime Sawchuck could get us to the PO's........

Playoffs? You wanna talk playoffs?

On to the second round. At some point we need to add another G to the pipeline. This is a very good year and time to do so. All the rankings/mock drafts have multiple G's going between 25 and 45. In other words where we will be picking in the second round. Here are the guys that should go in this area: Ian Scott 6-3/175. Plays for Prince Albert. Michael De Pietro 6-1/190, plays for Windsor. Stuart Skinner 6-4/200, plays for Lethbridge. Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen 6-4/190 from Finland. Jake Oettinger 6-3/200 plays for the USN-U18 team. Any of these guys would be a good pickup for us. They all have the en vogue size for NHL G's. If we don't move up, one of them should be the pick. Best value for the pick and is a big need.
