You are joking right? Nyquist, Anderson, and Emmerton? At best we get 30 goals from that group. The biggest positive about them is they are cheap.
-
5 years from now when Datsyuk and Z are retired, Malkin will still be puttig up 50 goals seasons. Yes I said seasons. Something Dat and Z have never done on there own. In many years Malkin outscores those 2 combined by himself. For example, in 2011/12 Z and Dat scored 41 goals combined. Malkin scored 50. At 27 he is just entering his prime years. Whereas Z 34 and Dat 35 are past theirs.
-
If we win the cup? Yes. None of our "prospects" mean we win anything. Not to mention we can resing him. I know, can't be done......... Just Like Datsyuk now. We will not resign him either.......
-
If they were going to move him-doubt it, I would give whatever they wanted. Malkin has and will continue to out score most of our forwards combined. He has 560 career points in 458 regular season games. In the playoffs he has 97 points in 82 games. That my friends is production. Proven production. That is better than either Datsyuk or Zetterberg. Malkin would be our best player and it isn't even close. At 26-soone to be 27, he has 8-10 GREAT years left. On the open market he would get a 7 year (max) 70 million deal. If he resigns with his current team, they can go to 8 years. This is big. As for paying him, how much wasted money are the wings currently carrying? Bert-2 million, Sammy-3 million, Q-almost 4 million, Cola-2.5 million, Cleary-3 million. That is 14.5 million just on those guys. But we would have to move our prospects. So? At best 1 out of 5 ever make it. Most don't. Nyquist, tatar, and Anderson will never produce the same amount as Malkin. Heck he might even produce MORE playing with his countryman and Ideal-Datsyuk. Our issue this past year was O. Adding a 50+ goal guy fixes that overnight. Now wil this ever happen? No. Holland doesn't have the stones for this type of move anymore. This would be a better move than when we traded Primeau for Shanahan.Yes Kieth turned into a great player-before the head injuries, but Shanny got us 4 cups. In the end that is what matters. Cups. Malkin makes us a cup contender. The others don't.
-
Yes. There is a time limit for being under the 23 man roster. Plus the union would file a grevence.
-
The reasons Malkin is even rumored to MAYBE be available is the cap. After this next season they have a total of 5 players signed and 39.5 million to spend. They need a whole new team. If they resing Malkin which they could, they will need to find 17 new players and only have about 30 million to spend. Their Norris candidate is also a UFA. So use another 8 million or so for him. 22 million for 16 players is not a lot of money. It only averages 1.375 million per guy. In other words they would have 6 stars and a AHL team. Not a plan for long term success.

here are some scuting report links: Bailey http://thehockeywriters.com/nhl-draft-justin-baileys-choosing-his-own-path/ Big Fred http://thehockeywriters.com/frederik-gauthier-the-next-ones-nhl-2013-draft-prospect-profile/ Mantha http://thehockeywriters.com/anthony-mantha-the-next-ones-nhl-2013-draft-prospect-profile/ McCarron http://thehockeywriters.com/michael-mccarron-the-next-ones-nhl-2013-draft-prospect-profile/ love the Gillies comp Nichushkin http://thehockeywriters.com/valeri-nichushkin-and-the-russian-factor/ Zykov http://thehockeywriters.com/valentin-zykov-the-next-ones-nhl-2013-draft-prospect-profile/ Get me 2 of these guys in the first 2 rounds and I am happy as a pig in mud. 3 would be down right orgasmic!

Sorry I haven't had time to update the draft/prospects etc lately. Been busy as hell working 2 jobs, going to classes at night and still taking cate of my wife and 3 kids at home while packing to move. Yikes! The biggest thing is who is moving up/down now that the Juniors are finished, WC U18 is completed, and most combines are done. Some of the movers that I have read about: Nichuskin moving down... Russian factor Big Fred Guatherier down... Have a hard time beliving this, but is rumored McCarron up, big time. Had a great U18 and being a 6-5/230 American RW Mantha up-scoring is always popular Bailey-down but only because others are movin up Taking some of this into account, here is what I would love to see the first 2 rounds: 1st-McCarron 2nd-Bailey No that wold be a dream draft. But most of the guys I have been talking about are still the names in play. Some may be in the 1st now, instead of the second. Another mover: Haag-dropping like a stone. Had a terrible WC U18. Same with de la Rose and Wannenberg.

career AHL guy. yes he has size, but that is it. Little speed, skill, and not overly tough. Just a body at this point in time.

INSANE grand rapids roster next season full of prospects
Richdg replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
There is lots of talent heading to GR for sure. But that does not mean GR will be a good team. Really young teams tend to suck-IE the Oilers. Most of that roster is filled with guys with 1 year or less experience in pro hockey. Most will in the end NOT work out. but it is fun to dream. -
malkin is a once per generation type talent that can lead a team for the next 8-10 years. If, and it is a big if the Pens decide to move him, Hell YES we go all in! Now why would they move him? Simple. cap issues. They need 2 real Dmen and don't have the money to add them.
-
That is laughable. Look at franzens hits now. he barely touches guys, but gets credit for hits. Our forwards as a group are not hitters. This will be a problem. That group is also small. Getting hit by guys the same size, no problem. Getting hit by guys 2-3 inches tallers and 20+ pounds heavier will be an issue over the course of the season. The last time the Wings were really physically hammered was by the Yotes a couple of years ago. Doan was single handedly the reason why Rafalski retired. He got hammered by Doan and the Wings had no one that could answer. Still don't.

Didn't see this posted anywhere, so I will add some quotes. "We would like to get more scoring, a little bigger, a little grittier" "All 5 of the young guys that played this year will be in Detroit. Lashoff, tatar, Nyquist, Andersson, and Dekeyser" were the names he mentioned. But then he later back tracked a bit. Said "all the young guys will be pushing for time in training camp". "we will be looking to add some guys via UFA, maybe not top line guys but secondary support type players." "We have 5 UFA's, some we would like to keep, some we will part ways with. Cleary, Filppula, Miller, White, and Brunner are all UFA's".

Look at the team hits for this year. http://www.nhl.com/ice/teamstats.htm?fetchKey=20132ALLSAAALL&sort=hits&viewName=realTimeStats Look at who is in our division. Tor 1st, Boston 10th, ottawa 6th, MTL 20th, Buff 19th, etc.... Now look at who was in our division this year: Chi 30th, Nash 25th, STL 14th, BJ's12th. Nowwhich is tougher? Our new division by far, not even close. Tor for example had 2x as many hits as we did. No this isn't go to show up right away. But around game 30 it will. Our injuries will increase, more small skilled guys not being able to play.We can expect Z, dat, Nyquist, Brunner etc.... to play fewer games. Hell expect franzen to play fewer games. The size and toughness difference isn't something that will effect any one game. it is something that will effect us as a team over 50-60 games. I expect us to start of pretty good next year. It is the second half othe year that will be the issue.
-
Clarkson, then Bickell, then Stalberg, than Horton, than lapierre in that order. Or save our money and make a run at malkin next year! LOL
-
Yes he will. That is the state of business in the NHL today. His agent can easily point to the 66 points last year and his inuries this year. he started the NHL season with a bad knee from playing in Europe, then had a bad shoulder, no training camp etc... On top of that he is one of the best under 30 forwards available.

Potential Players being Bought Out This Summer
Richdg replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
I think that far more guys will get bought ou than most realize. Be it this year or next, guys that are over 30 and signed untill 40 will get dumped. -
not to jump in your little fight, but earlier this year is was reported in several places that Filppula was going to be asking for 5 million per season on a long term contract. fact is he will get it. He is a better all around player than Hudler who just got 4 million per year. Now maybe in the end the cap hit is only 4.5, but Fil will get paid. In fact last week one of the writers from Detroit was on the Huge show discussing this very thing. I forget the guys name.... I want to say durpa or something like that.
-
Both. Bickell is a good front of net player, thus helps score goals. Clarkson can snipe and bang in pucks. Stalberg has speed and a great shot. All 3 help us offensively, which you are correct is our problem. Did you notice how the Hawks offense got a lot better after Q moved Bickell up to the top line? The first 2 game he was on their 3rd line. hawks did bumpkiss. Toews was playing like crap. After Bickell moved up Toews had room to play and their O got better. This is key. Not everyone has to score goals to make the O better.
-
I understand we are all just spit balling right now. Yes we could use a 50 goal scorer, who couldn't. But is there one available? No. We all would like a true #1 Dman-RH prefered. But is there one available? No. So what can we do to improve the team? if you can't get a 50 gaol guy, then 2 25 goal guys get you the same thing. if we can't find the second coming of Probert, then maybe some more McCarty's. Some get to wrapped up in superstars. We are not looking at a guy like Bickell to replace Datsyuk. We are looking at Bickell as a guy to replace bertuzzi. Well what did Bert give us this year? Nothing. What did bert give us last year? In 2011/12 Bert scored 14 goals and had 96 hits. What does Bickell provide? This year 9 goals and 108 hits. His best year to date was 2010/11. That year he had 17 goals and 178 hits. Anyway you slice it Bickell is => Bert. Not to mention 11 years younger. With Stalberg you are looking at a guy to replace Cleary. Again, let's compare the numbers. This year Cleary gave us 9 goals and 56 hits. Stalberg produced 9 goals and 43 hits. Pretty even. With Sammy we truely got nothing from him. Clarkson produced 15 goals and 84 hits. So the question becomes what makes us better? Bert or Bickell? Cleary or Stalberg? Sammy or Clarkson? We clearly become a better team with Bickell, Stalberg, and Clarkson.
-
We need more pricks. We are way to easy to play against. Our Big forwards are bert-bad back and old, Cleary-lots of heart but to small for what we ask him to do and a UFA, Sammy-LOL, Franzen LOL x2, and Abby. Those are (first 4 anyway) that we have to replace and upgrade from. Bickell and Clarkson do that. They are also available and make equal money. bert-2 million, sammy-3 million, and Cleary-3 million make 8 million combined. Bickell-my guess is 2.5 to 3 million and Clarkson 5-5.5 million are almost equal replacments.
-
Yes. Big (one is 6-3/210 the other 6-4/230) forwards that are in their prime (both are 27) That can score (Stalberg had 22 goals in 11/12 and Bickell had 17 in 10/11) That hit (Bickell had 108 this year and Stalberg had 43) that are reasonably priced are hard to find. I would expect both to sign in the 2.5-3 million per range. If they would have been on our team this year, Bickell would have been second in hits after Abby and Stalberg would have been 8th. They are great options to replace bert and Sammy with. Now my personnel preference would be Clarkson and Bickell. Clarkson would ave been tied for 1st in goals scored 15, and be in second in hits wth 84. Now if we add Bickell and Clarkson to our team this past season we add 24 goals and 192 hits.
-
The hawks have no cap room, unless they decide to buy someone out. They have 2 million to spend and Stalberg and Bickell will each be making more than that next season. The hawks also only have 17 IIRC players signed for next season. They have a cap mess to address.
-
I've known Bill for years. Nicest guy you would ever meet. Don't ever confuse radio personalities for the real people.

Takes care of 2 lines. Abby-Dat-Clarkson and then Bickell-Zetterberg-Franzen
