1/7 GDT : Red Wings at San Jose Sharks, 10:30 EST
Richdg replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in 2016-17
The key with him is how much does he play before the end of the year. There is no doubt that he is the most talented player available. TBH I like him as a RW over a C, but that is just me. If he drop a couple of spots and we can still get him at 3, 4, 5 GREAT! Just take the time and get him right before he plays. -

Not even close to Boyle. he is like Keith Primeau, a future 30 goal guy, which is why most sites have him ranked top 5ish. Anything is possible. Injuries are never what they really are.... But on the other hand Draper, Mccarty, Maltby and many others that have played for us have had hernias and were fine after surgery. -
We don't have the pieces to trade for Tavares. He is a UFA next summer-2018. Only UFA worth looking at this summer is Shattenkirk and everyone will be after him.

Patrick is out because of an "upper body injury". https://www.nhl.com/news/nolan-patrick-to-miss-a-couple-more-weeks/c-283799348 Unless there is something new that I didn't see, which is always possible. His hernia was last year. As I have talked about in the draft thread, if we are picking in the top 5 I want Patrick or Rasmussen. if we are picking 6th through 14th I want Foote. -

If what we are doing now is the opposite of tanking, then give me "tanking". Never liked that term anyway. But it is what it is. I am all for moving out as much salary as we can and picking up more picks and prospects. If that is tanking then so be it. This team as currently constructed will never win any PO games/series. -
Tatar interviewed in Slovak news: About team's start, his shoulder, and trade rumors
Richdg replied to Juklitz's topic in General
4.75 million per year for a guy on pace to score 14 goals this year with a bad shoulder. That is not a high value asset. If he has to have surgery this summer like he was hinting at, he may not even be ready at the start of next season. Depending on the injury etc.... -

That would not be in our best interest. If we are not a PO team then we wnat the highest possible draft pick. Not to mention that if we "Finish strong" then Blashill might return. -
Tatar interviewed in Slovak news: About team's start, his shoulder, and trade rumors
Richdg replied to Juklitz's topic in General
Trading Tatar and/or Nyquist is not going to get us much. Tatar is admitting he is hurt and he is a RFA this summer. He going to want Nyquist type of money. As for Nyquist he ahs 4 year left IIRC at 4.75 million per year. For an undersized averaged speed F on pace to score 8 goals this year that contract is a huge anchor. Thank you Kenny! -

MANtha with his 11th. A hustle goal with a nice backhander. Jumbo Joe was all over him while shooting. -

Through 2 periods of a game we are 2 goals behind, AA is 9th in ice time. Only Ott, Glendening, and Vanek-yes Vanek, have less ice time. I mean after all AA and Vanek just scored 3 goals in the last game why should they be in the top 6 in F ice time...... Miller, Sheahan, and Nyquist need that ice time. -

These goals are not on our defensemen. The goals are on the defensive system-playing the F's far to low and our AHL goalie. There is a reason why Coreau's save % has been sub .900 so far. As for the system, if Sheahan-playing RW was up covering the point like wingers should be he doesn't knock the puck in. On the plus side maybe that gets him going! LOL But the Sharks are a team with several big bombers on their BL. Our wingers have to be there to block those shots or force them to pass. -

I guess 2 good games in a row is too much to ask...... -

After the great game vs. the Kings, can we follow up? That has been the big question all year. Can we get a better answer? Let's hope...... -
He was 9th in ice time, which is what I said. Nyquist should be benched. AA and his line (he did just sit a game) should have been out there for 16-17 mins. There is no reason for the 3rd line to have more time on the ice than the second line which scored 3 goals to none. It shouldn't be close. But hey keep defending the management.
-
What sucked about last nights game was the ice time for the F's. AA was 9th out of 12. Nyquist was almost 16 mins. In fact AA, neilsson, and Vanek were 3 of the bottom 5 in ice time. The line that played the best was used the least. Think about that. Yes MANtha was the leader in mins which is good. But the #2 line was used to little.
-
Great game last night. Now the hard part. Keeping that going in our next game. We have had good games before this season only to be followed up with complete stinkers. Can we get 2 good efforts in a row? Something that is ENTIRELY on the coaching staff.
-
At this pace he will get 25 MAYBE 30 goals this year after missing 15 games. Not bad for a spare part right Kenny?
-
Great game and win! Enjoy it.

Several things going on tonight that all of us have wanted to see: 1. AA in the top 6 2. Larkin playing as a C 3. The 5 youngest D (DD is 26) all playing A month or so ago I talked about that MANtha is not a net front player, that he needs to be playing in the slot. He is a sniper. Well that is where he has been getting his goals. All of his goals come from 10ft to 25ft from the net in the slot. Now if we would bench Nyquist for a few games for Jurco, we would be about as good as we can get atm.
-
MANtha! 4-0!
-
Sitting here waiting for the 3rd period. In a mild state of shock as we lead 3-0. yet I have the feeling that the team that scores the next goal will win. Boy I hope it is us........

Percent chance of Playoffs or Potential High Pick
Richdg replied to AtlantaHotWings's topic in General
Don't worry. I would bet good money that we have at least 3 top 10 picks in the next 5 drafts. I like the thought But..... Nyquist and tatar need to go. It has been 1.5 years now. They already have had their career years. Move them if possible. Give more minutes to Jurco for the rest of this season to see if he can develop or not. As I have mentioned in other places I want to see Svechnikov get 12-15 games at the end of this year to wet the taste buds for him for next season. Geo is 2 years younger than Mantha, but the skill set is 100% the same. On the BL DD, Oullett, Sproul, Marchenko, and Jensen should play every game that they are healthy for the rest of this season. Trade Green and Smith for picks. -
Looking at the standings, we will be between 3 and 8th would be my best guess. No way we catch The Yotes or Avs for #1. But keep in mind it is a lottery. Finishing 3rd and winning it is not that remote. If the Avs are ahead of us I fully expect them to take Liljegren. He is the best overall Dman in the draft and they are even worse defensively than we are. So..... With the 3rd pick in the 2017 Draft, the Detroit Red Wings take:
-
Is Sproul hurt? The way Ken was talking it made it sound like it. Saying that if Marchenko can go tomorrow that still only makes 5 Dmen.

In a couple of years..... lets just get him to some 30+ goal seasons first. Maybe equally as important, GET THE GUY SOME HELP!
