Nothing more than an extreme long shot rumor, but if they did attempt to trade him I'd be willing to ship out a ton of prospects to make it happen. I don't think anyone in the system would be off-limits when it comes to Malkin and with the way their goaltending has played this year Mrazek might be a nice start to a deal.

Radulov is under contract in the KHL for a few more years at over 9 million a season. He can't be signed by an NHL team and even if he could the cost to get him would be a Max contract. Going into a season with 7 thousand dollars of cap space is definitely fantasy. If you left it at 2 Free agents I think you'd have a far more realistic roster.

That was my thought exactly as I was posting it. Sometimes inpiration strikes a bit too late. Maybe I'll use it again next year with the Wings since the Griffins GDT's get far less traffic. -
The Wings could potentially trade for someone's rights, but short of that I wouldn't hold my breathe on a FA signing. The team is trying to re-sign, Brunner, Cleary and Miller and then has a bunch of RFA's to deal with. Without shipping some salary out there isn't really any cap space for any Free Agents.
-
I'm not too worried about his cap number, I'm more concerned with the length of his deal. I wouldn't want to sign anything longer than 2 years unless he was giving the team a serious discount. A 1 year deal would be perfect even if it costs more in cap space, so we have the freedom to cut our losses should he not hold up over a full season. If he has another good year I'd feel a lot more secure signing him to a long term deal.
-
At his current cap hit I would too, which is why I said he's one of the best valued players in the league. I think he's in line for a big raise when his current contract is up though.
-
Ladd is also one of the best valued players out there, but he's only put up Franzen #'s twice in his career and he's already making more than him. Stepan is on an entry level deal, hasn't matched Franzen #'s ever, and on top of that will likely get paid a bunch more this offseason. I don't think he'll end up with a contract as team friendly as Ladd or Franzen.
-
I don't think Tootoo is eligible for a compliance buyout, I read you have to be making more than 3 million a season to have one used on you. The Wings can only use them on Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Howard, Franzen, Kronwall, Quincey, Ericsson, and Samuelsson. They could use a regular buyout on him, but he would cost us around 600k on the salary cap for 2 years, and around 700k for the next 2.
-
Datsyuk has a small lead with less than 12 hours left. One big final push should put him over the top. http://poy.tsn.ca/

I agree on Brunner and possibly on Smith, but I think Colaiacovo's salary will inflate the asking price of both RFA defenceman. They were both ahead of him on the depth chart and are likely to be ahead of him again next season and any decent agent will push to have them compensated accordingly. The can probably get a discount on Smith, because as Jesusberg pointed out he hasn't really been in the league long enough to earn it, but Kindl might even be eligible for arbitration and if he goes that route he'll get paid.
-
If anyone in this thread has an obsession with a player it's not kipwinger...LeftWinger Hates Franzen is a more fitting description If you feel there are "plenty" of players out there who are better than Franzen making less money...feel free to list them. I assure you there are very very few, unless you count those on entry level contracts.
-
I'm not sure why you keep trying to make this a Franzen vs Hossa debate. If you were originally arguing that Hossa is a better player than Franzen nobody would be taking issue with your stance at all. Its your ridiculous assertion that Franzen isn't worthy of being in the NHL that people are correcting you on. Its as crazy as claiming he's the best player in the NHL. You can disregard his regular season production all you want but those with an ounce of objectivity can easily see that without Franzen's production this year the Wings wouldn't even have been in the playoffs.

You missed the strangest 2 periods of hockey I've ever witnessed. 2 disputed goals, one of which wasn't noticed for several minutes and forced them to add time to the clock. A mistake by the timekeeper on the same issue caused the 2nd period to be 23 minutes long. A guy ejected for a clean hit with seconds left, then called back from the dressing room a few minutes later, only to be re-ejected for abusing the officials. A commentator that made Edzo seem fair and balanced, A beauty goal by Mursak and the back of some idiots head popping up in front of the camera everytime anything interesting happened. I think that sums it up pretty well -

He was in this GDT by request, This will be his only appearance in my Griffins GDT's. In fact it may be a swan song for him, someone else will get the lady treatment next season. -

They just mentioned it on the play by play. its something unique to this building. It is smaller than other AHL rinks. -

That's news to me, unless its just some of the older rinks. All North American professional rinks are supposed to be 200x85 Perhaps the rink is the same size but the lines are placed in different spots. -

They are the same size...although the amount of seats is far less than an NHL arena. -
I wouldn't trade Dan Cleary for Horcoff unless Edmonton was willing to eat the maximum amount allowable of his contract. You'd be hard pressed to find a player with a worse Cap hit to production ratio in the league.
