At no point have I ever in any way supported the idea of pursuing Franson at any cost. Had we landed him for a first I would have been first in line to criticize the terrible trade. We already made the overpaying for a rental mistake last season, this is the same thing but at a greater cost.

Personally I think Toronto got the better of this deal. Franson and Santorelli were leaving anyways at the end of the season and they got a 1st, a prospect and another player they are going to flip before the deadline. I'm glad the Wings passed on Franson, having seen a lot of Leafs games here in Toronto, Franson turns the puck over more frequently than Ericsson. I don't think its a bad trade for Nashville either though, they get 2 pieces they can definitely use as part of a run.

Gotta hand it to this Leafs fan. His team may suck but he loves them anyways

The Maple Leafs finally put a quality product on the ice...
FlashyG replied to Jedi's topic in General
Montreal did it first, but I haven't seen a projection show on their ice even remotely comparable to that one. I may hate the Leafs but I'll give their arena staff credit where it's due, that show was fantastic. -
As long as we have this guy, we're always contenders.

The NHL wants a rivalry game outdoors, but not the Flyers/Penguins kind of rivalry. As much as most of us hardcore fans love the rough passionate games between them, the casual fans that the outdoor games are for do not want to watch fights. The NHL would want nothing to do with a fight filled game that Philly vs Pittsburgh is likely to produce.

I actually already claimed Minnesota on the previous page.

Domi isn't taunting the opposition with his tongue out of his mouth. He celebrates every goal that way whether its in the WJR's, the OHL or in Minor hockey. Just like I enjoyed watching Petr Mrazek celebrate stopping penalty shots by going nuts and jumping into the glass I also enjoy seeing forwards find new ways to celebrate goals, at least at this level of hockey. Let these kids have fun, most of them will have all that youthful exuberance stripped away from them when they reach the NHL. That Captain Morgan pose was hilarious.

Keep in mind McDavid is playing his first hockey in weeks and possibly still hasn't fully recovered from his broken hand. I've seen him play a few times this year in the OHL and he's every bit as good as most claim him to be (though definitely not Crosby level good). I haven't seen as much of Eichel but you can certainly see flashes of his exceptional talent as well. Both players have been overshadowed by players on their own team this WJHC's though, Larkin for the USA, and Max Domi for Canada.

I actually don't think the call on that goal was the wrong one. The puck entered the crease before Lazar so there is no crease violation, It was not kicked it and didn't go in off his hand. The only possible reason to disallow the goal would be goalie interference and that isn't reviewable. Even if it was Demko wasn't prevented from stopping the puck, when Lazar contacted him the puck was already bouncing off him and into the net. Also the idea that this game would have been different in the US, or any other country is ridiculous. The referee's were not canadian, all 4 officials were European. Canada was the better team in tonight's game by a wide margin, but even so they just barely held on. I fully expect the US to win this tournament beating Canada in a rematch at the final.

It's not listed yet but can I get the game vs Minnesota on the 20th of January?
-
I've got a pretty good one in mind for the 27th vs Ottawa if you'd let me have that one.

I have not abandoned you at all! Please no phaneufing. I was too late to get this game on LGW's and it wouldn't have made any sense to do a nesty themed GDT for any team but Carolina. Now that my personal life has settled down a bit I have a bit of free time to do some more GDT's. I've got a few ideas kicking around that aren't themed for anyone specific so I'll be signing up for a couple very soon.

Sorry I haven't been able to do many this season so far. I was going to take a stab at Sunday's game vs Carolina but it looks like its already taken. I won't have time to do one for Saturday's game and time is tight through the week.

Welcome to the world Canadians have been dealing with for 5 years or so. Almost every American network won't allow non American's to watch video's on their site. Most even go so far as to block people from outside the US from even watching their Youtube uploads. You'll have to use a VPN, Canadian DNS Server or any of the many many other tools that allow you to "change" your internet location.

Sounds like I am in the minority on this one but I like the new layout far more than the old one. I hated it at first, but the more I use it the more I like it.

The lesson here? Cheating pays off once in a while
FlashyG replied to Jersey Wing's topic in General
Really this could easily be prevented by treating it like throwing your stick with the goalie pulled. If the penalty for blatantly knocking the net off during a clear scoring chance was an automatic goal no goalie would ever do this. I have to admit though I admire his outside the box thinking and had a good laugh when I saw this yesterday. -
Actually that was a completely separate quote not a continuation of the first and I didn't leave it out, I just paraphrased it instead of giving it quote tags and it immediately followed the first quote in my post. You said the rumor was unsubstantiated, I provided you with a quote from the player himself saying that he had thoughts about going home. I agree that the likelihood of that was remote, but clearly the rumors weren't completely unsubstantiated, at some point he did think about leaving the AHL for Sweden and likely told someone that leaked the info to Bob Mackenzie.

Link to Swedish article Calle Järnkrok, 22, was thinking of giving up and moving home to Brynäs. He does go on to say that it would be hard to give up after only one season, and that he still wanted to play in the NHL. I think there is truth to both sides of the argument. Calle clearly did have thoughts about going home, but I think the seriousness of those thoughts were blown out of proportion by fans and media trying to justify the trade. On the other hand I think a lot of the denials of having those thoughts was Calle trying to calm the fears of Predators fans, Media and management about his previously documented thoughts about going back home.

At the time of the trade Jarnkrok was most certainly not anywhere near the #1 prospect in the system by most fans, or by any reputable publications. He was well behind Mantha, Nyquist, Tatar, Mrazek. Jurco, and Sheahan. He was in a group along with Ouellet, Sproul, Marchenko etc. He was closer to 10th than 1st, especially considering the Wings brass felt Glendening was more ready to play in the NHL over him. As far as the rumors about him wanting to go home, he did eventually admit that he had considered returning to Sweden when he realized his chances of cracking the Wings line-up any time soon were remote. I don't think any sort of move was imminent though and I don't think he had vocalized those wishes so they likely had little to no impact on the Wings decision to trade him. I think he was dealt because he wasn't going to be able to crack the roster for years and they had a pressing need for a center right then, having lost their top 5 centers to injuries at the time.

I had to come up with something on short notice. I figured I'd use thursdays but with new credits, quotes and some improved special features. I like this version more than the HF one now that its done. Also thanks everyone for the compliments on the GDT, I'm glad you liked it.
