http://kuklaskorner.com/tmr/comments/holland-holding-on-to-jeff-blashill I thought this was an interesting story given that both Babcock and Blashill have expiring contracts next year. By holding on to Blashill this year it takes some negotiating power away from Babcock next year.

Who will be LGW's whipping boy this season?
Behind Enemy Lines in CO replied to Nev's topic in General
Kindl, Lashoff and Weiss. Take your pick if the first two are still on the team in October. -
"Even is he is undersized and not rugged" - I remember Rafalski's last year here and people complaining that he got ran by opposing team's large forwards. Shudder to think what would be said of Almquist.

Backes on playing against Malkin and Crosby

And now we all see the value the Grind Line brought to the Wings years ago. They could play tough against the best lines of other teams and could also score. -

Trade Legwand to Detroit for Eaves, Jarnkrok + cond 3rd/2nd
Behind Enemy Lines in CO replied to gcom007's topic in General
Thats all nice however what did Helene SJ say the Canucks wanted for Kesler: Young forwards (plural), prospect and a 1st rounder. So if we ASSUME that the Canucks would at least want the same for Edler then you have to compare that trade to the Legwand trade. I'll play devil's advocate here and say they would want both Nyquist and Tatar, the prospect being of better quality than Jarnkrok (I believe Mantha was mentioned) and that oh-so-delicious 1st round draft pick which no one wants to give up. Seriously, is everyone just pissed about the Legwand deal because we got Legwand for Eaves, Jarnkrok and the 3rd/2nd instead of Kesler or Edler? -
Official 2014 Olympic Hockey Thread (Admin warning #316)

Some guy in my office has the Sweden-Czech game streaming from the BBC right now. Incredible how lame the announcers are, particularly the guy with the British accent who knows little about hockey. I never thought I would miss Doc, Ed and Pierre. "DRIVE". -
This is all about the insurance premiums that were paid to cover the NHL players' contracts. Do a google search on the subject and you will see that this was an extraordinary amount of money that needed to be paid to cover the salaries. Now imagine what the terms of the insurance coverage are, i.e. what exactly does it cover and what does it not cover. This is about money, not politics.

I was listening to Buccigross on ESPN radio the last time their contracts were up and they told the hockey world they wanted to stay together on the same team. The other reporter/announcer asked Buccigross about them staying together and made some comment about it being strange, to which Buccigross says "Swede" in the same way a farmer says "Suueee" to pigs.

Why the color gray? Seriously, what does gray contribute to these jerseys?

Pierre McGuire's past that NBC doesn't want you to know about

You could probably post this same info on many coaches. For some reason, Patrick Roy comes to mind. -
Question about Buying out Samuelsson
Behind Enemy Lines in CO replied to matthewdanna's topic in General
In a similar vein, would it be possible to place Sammy on LTIR for next season? Would that save salary cap space? And if he were to contest that and want to play, then would he be eligible for a buyout? -
Carolina Hurricanes unveil new uniform design, "New Storm"

Dallas made so much noise about going back to the green color and then they use black pants. Let it go and use the old green pants. -
Carolina Hurricanes unveil new uniform design, "New Storm"

They look like the Phoenix jerseys. And with them dropping the black from the gloves they now have Red Wings style gloves. Nothing unique about these jerseys. Sad. -
Report: Roy Appointed Avalanche Coach
Behind Enemy Lines in CO replied to Namingway's topic in General
The only way I would ever go to a Dives game with Roy as the coach is if it was guaranteed he would throw some kind of tantrum or start a fight or some other kind of shenanigans. Maybe when the Dives goalies start to get lit up he appears on the bench at the start of the next period in full gear ready to go! That would be entertaining as hell. -
Back in the early 90's I was living in Phoenix and my wife was a big Suns basketball fan and of course so was/is most of the city. Those were the days of Charles Barkley and after his big first season in 93 where the Suns went to the finals he started to develop back problems. He never recovered from those issues and his career started to decline from there on out. There were stories of him laying in the aisle on the team plane on trips because it hurt too much to sit in a proper seat. Would suck to see Helm in the same situation.

Norris Finalists announced: Letang, Subban, Suter
Behind Enemy Lines in CO replied to haroldsnepsts's topic in General
And we have one of our Norris finalists cross checking a referee at the end of the Pens-Isles game last night. Stay classy NHL. -
You sure about that? Cuz when I was at the Dives game last weekend I swear I saw his jersey hanging from the rafters.

Me too!
