Holland was quoted last night saying that Legwand had to waive his NTC and he believes he wants to be here and will be a wing next season. If you would like the actual quote I will find it. -
Trade Legwand to Detroit for Eaves, Jarnkrok + cond 3rd/2nd
wingedominance13 replied to gcom007's topic in General
So here is my two cents. I originally hated this trade. I thought Jarkrok was too good of a prospect to get rid of at this point in time. However, it basically came down to.. was Jarkrok worth letting go in order for us to have a best shot at making the playoffs? Jarkrok is good and IMO he will have a solid NHL career but this trade makes our team better today. If we get healthy and make the playoffs we have a fantastic forward core. (don't think we will get healthy but its a gamble the brass took). I think Legwand is a babcock type player and will fit in well here. He drives play towards the net and I absolutely hated him as a wings fan because he scored big goals against us and was for lack of a better term a pest. He fills a need today by sacrificing talent down the road. The team that takes the ice tomorrow will be better than the team that would have otherwise. So. I am content with this. Not thrilled, not mad. -

St. Louis has asked for a trade. With Z out I think he would be a great addition. We can fit him cap wise. Don't know what he would cost though, probably to much -

I honestly can't see any big players moved at the deadline. Things are just too tight. I expect a couple bigger trades in the offseason when the cap grows.. which could be our chance to land edler or another good dman. -

One guy that I believe could be available and gotten for mid tier prospects and picks is steve ott. I think Ott would be a great fit on this team, especially if Z is out for a long period of time. I don't think we would have to leverage the farm to get him either. I think it would cost us something like andersson, pulkinenen (terrible spelling), almquist and middle of the road picks. -

If Z gets back surgery it'll most likely season ending. Which means cap space. -
Its appropriate to mention that a lot of his pain is probably due to the fact that per IIHF rules he cant use cortison shots, which i'm assuming he was using to stem the pain and function these past couple weeks.

Yes you are correct I read the -700,000 as them being under the cap by that much, not the actual reading. An unfortunate mistake. -
My only addition would be stevie weeks, mystery alaska.. dude skates the rivers of alaska for conditioning everyday

I ran cap geek with wiess off LTIR and by demoting the griffins on the roster we were cap complaint by 700,000, unless I misstepped somewhere. -

All I"m saying is Girardi for Quincey and a mid level pick actually helps our salary situation, if demoted Jurco, Glen, Sheehan and add Girardi and get everyone (including weiss) healthy we are cap compliant with 700,000 to spare. -
I voted No for two reasons. 1) Jurco IMO is a bubble player next year. He's a guy that needs solid top six minutes and I really think the typical Red Wings trajectory will benefit him. 2) With how Alfie played this year I would resign him. Even if he plays in our bottom six. To me he is the type of player that you want on your team until his body breaks down.

Only way you can talk to me about trading Datsyuk or Zet is if the return is the likes of Stamkos or Tavares. -
So assuming Andy is healthy tuesday do send Sheehan down and place Andy in his spot? Additionally, if you could only have one of them on your team which would you rather have on your team long term?
-
I guess tonight should put some of this to rest, especially in terms of the minimal votes Andersson received. Both players will be playing with good linemates and Andersson will be paired against one of the two top lines for Philly. Lets hope he is a better player than the majority of us think he is.
-
A new training staff and conditioning coach would be most beneficial to this team..
-
If Joakim is healthy I'd roll with these lines in order to move Franzen back to wing. Franzen, Helm, Nyquist Abby, Andy, Aflie Tatar, Sheehan, Jurco Miller, Glen, Eaves this however might not be cap compliant we might see Glen sent back down and a lineup with franzen in the middle
-
Only thing I would switch is putting Z, D together. Zets is better on the wing for the simple reason that he doesn't have to bang as much and therefore typically stays healthier (which is better for the team). I'd run Zets, Pav, Alfie/Franzen (see who works better here) Nyquist, Weiss, Franzen/Aflie Tatar, Sheehan, Jurco (love this line) Abby, Helm, Miller (Andy, Miller working in)

If there is something similar feel free to move, I looked around and only found the howard vs. miller thread. So with the way Mrazek has played do you think it would be worth while to send Jimmy and his cap hit plus prospects and a dman to another team for a legit top pairing defender? Here's my thoughts. I've never been high on the idea that you need stellar goaltending to win. I think the idea that you have a solid, solid d corp and above average goaltending and you will have a better team is true. I have nothing against Jimmy and think he is a top ten goalie in this league, but I would rather have a top 10 defender then a top 10 goalie. I think its ideal to spend less than 3 mil a year on a goalie and save the money for the D. However, until we get healthy there is no point selling anyone because we won't make a cup run if we don't have more pieces back.
-
Wow. Good for him. I had the same type of surgery a couple years ago and can't imagine being back on the ice already (I however do not have professional trainers or am a professional athlete sooo perspective i guess). Heres to hoping he returns/becomes the 2c this team needs

Would you trade Jimmy for a top pairing dman?
wingedominance13 replied to wingedominance13's topic in General
I agree our biggest issue is scoring, but I believe our biggest issue is we aren't generating/sustaining offense because of our blueline. The style of play that this team is focused on needs dmen who not only join the rush, but ones who create and maintain it. Our blueline scoring is way down over the past three years... and so is our scoring as a team. -
Awesome!! Are there any other teams that have two olympic captains on them?
