I agree with everything but the last part. Blashill is no imbecile. He's just not suited for the NHL/our team. He was great in the AHL, he's obviously in over his head now though. He shouldn't have been thrown right into a head coach position. But hindsight is 20/20 and he's getting the opportunity to finish out his contract, and turn things around. He also has a team full of scrubs, according to most people here, which he is not at fault for. Lets not forget almost every poster on this forum wanted him to be the coach.

Why step down though? You have a young star in Matthews, a very good young team on the verge of breaking out. And why would they not want to renew the guy in charge when the team is heading upwards? It doesn't make any sense. Both sides are benefiting greatly right now. It seams like a no brainer that he gets renewed.

When they're in trouble, yes. A parent is an authoritarian ruler, so if the kid breaks the rules, the should fear the consequences and in turn you.

But they have been rebuilding for 10 years. Fired multiple coaches/gms in the process. Just because it finally clicked doesn't mean the timeframe in which they sucked changed. They only were able to assemble most of the talent they have over 10 years of garbage hockey. Just like the oilers, the hawks, etc......

Lol. I'd say in 10 years they've rebuilt. Also they've made the playoffs once and were bounced in the first round, lets not say its a success just yet.

If they trade riley, and sign aa for 2mil they will be right at the cap with 13f 8d and 2g. They won't be over even without an extra ltir aside from Johan.
