If Wayne Gretzky can be traded, anyone can.
-
I think he should take a look at L'Carpetron Dookmarriot. The guy has some sick flow!
-
Okay, so hypothetically, who all would be sent to Washington for Ovechkin? I couldn't even imagine how bad they'd drain our farm system with that.
-
This is awesome! Can't stand Pierre, or anyone on NBC really. Except for JR.
-
If it comes down to those two, I pick baseball. I'm hoping the Bruins win it, that's my dad's team.
-
If we could get Clarkson AND Horton I think I'd have to change my shorts...I was so sick of watching our guys get pushed around by other teams. We need some guys that can get mean and still produce.
-
The dude floats back to the d zone, doesn't score enough to not play both ways. No thanks.

I myself am not a fan of a salary cap. I as well prefer the soft cap, like the MLB has. Teams should be able to spend whatever they want over the cap and in return pay a fee to the other teams for going over the cap. Some people might think the old hockey was too slow and boring, but what I really miss though is the toughness. There aren't too many guys that can score and fight in this league anymore. Back in the day there were tons of those guys (Shanny and Yzerman especially).I recognize that actions had to be taken to improve players safety with concussions, but with the new rules and this emphasis it seems like the game is getting less physical and I can't stand it. You rarely see any big hits anymore because guys are afraid of getting suspended or fined. I also missed when teams legitimately hated each other like the Red Wings/Avs rivalry. As a kid growing up it was so exciting to watch. The other thing I think was a huge mistake was obviously not signing with ESPN, although NBC is getting better. I still love watching more than anything and I'll even watch games with teams I'm not a fan of, but it definitely doesn't seem to be as good as it used to.

Quincey and White are both going to be playing as well as Dekeyser.
-
George Parros would be nice. If nothing that glorious moustache could lead us to victory!
-
Hopefully the front office tries to sign Horton. Playing for Boston the past few years I think could help transition the other guys as far as play style in that division. He knows what to expect from all of those teams.

Concerned - we might not make it in to the playoffs

^THIS. Cups are the only thing that matters. The team doesn't have enough to win a cup unless some guys wake up and have career games from here on out. As much as I hate to say it, I wouldn't mind having a better pick right now. -
What I like about SJ GM Doug WIlson is he had guys up for FA and said this, "You can't really allow three UFA to leave and not get any assets in return." The Sharks have 4 picks in the first two rounds of this years draft which is supposed to be a very deep draft class. If we are rebuilding it'd be nice to see Kenny do something like that...
-
Only reason I don't remember much before that was because I was 7 years old before that season
-
I didn't check out Quincey's numbers the year Chelios was in his final year with the Wings. I guess I might be a little biased since Chelios was my childhood hero.
-
I don't wish injury on anyone, but I won't be upset if he isn't in the playoffs. I don't need to watch him whine and cry his way to another cup.
-
When was Quincey and Meech EVER better than Chelios?? Every year those three played together Chelios had much better numbers

Babcock loving this young group, Abby thinks any team can win it, and

I think Bert can still contribute somewhat, especially in shootouts. He still can provide some grit and make some offensive plays. I've never really understood signing Sammy. He doesn't do much that benefits the team and I think his spot would better be filled by an up and coming kid getting experience. -
Yeah lots of guys around the age of 35 and towards the back end of their careers on that list. I however think it'd be nice to acquire Horton and/or Clarkson. They're both physical and Horton is a right handed shot which we need. I think both are far fetched ideas but I'd love to have Horton.

I think if anyone on the Wild is going to be released it might be Heatley. The guy is 32 years old playing on their 3rd line making $7.5M and hasn't scored over 30 goals since '09. He's also last on the +/- for their team at -11. That alone should clear up some cap room.
-
I don't think he's even the best on his own team. I'd rather have Malkin. And I'd definitely rather have Datsyuk than Crosby.
-
When I heard that trade last year I spit my beer out. This has to be the worst trade I've seen the Red Wings make.
-
I just wished Ken would have moved some of the guys that won't be returning and gotten something for them instead of just losing them in the off season. If they're going to leave the team might as well be compensated some how for their departure.
-
I'd say most teams did pretty well, by either adding players or getting rid of guys that take up salary. I can't believe the Wings were one of very few teams that didn't do anything. The FA class this summer definitely got worse now that Perry and Getzlaf were extended in Anaheim. Here's the list for you if you care to look: http://www.capgeek.com/free-agents

Seems to be we need to follow everyone else's formula to get good players: tank for four to five years to get your core players then add role players around them. Obviously Ken doesn't wanna give up anyone in trades and can't seem to lure in big time FA's anymore.
