An interesting point about our apparent deadline strategy
derblaueClaus replied to DetroitRedWings1993's topic in General
This. The whole system is made to prevent constant success. And if you take a look at other teams that were successful in the late 90s/early 00s most of them went through or are rebuilding. The Red Wings on the other hand are the NHLs synonym for constantly competing at the highest level. Thats what we are hated and admired for. And thats the great work of no one other than Mr. Holland and his team. So it maybe would be wise to have a little trust in him. Concerning the Trade-Deadline I repeat what I wrote in another Thread : Its simply an awful time to trade for the Wings as we are heading East. Teams in the East won't like trading with us because we will face them next Season, teams in the West won't like trading with us because we might meet them in the Playoffs. That combined with the close standings and the fact that because of the CBA some Top 6 Players will most likely be available for free this summer it would be very stupid to make a desperate move and give away our future for a player you can get for nothing this summer. So if Holland can make a move for a Top 6 Winger for a reasonable price (3rd or 4th or 5th-Roundpick, 2 prospects and/or 1 Rosterplayer) : Fine, go ahead. If not, its better to stay patient for the reasons stated above. -
Brunner hasn't hit the wall. He has slammed into it.

This. And put the injuries and our new formed D in the mix why our offensive is lacking power right now. -
And the problem with trading is to find someone who will. In the West some teams won't trade with us because we still may meet them in the playoffs while some teams in the east won't trade with us because we will face them next season in our new division. And even if they will the price would be significantly higher than usual. It is the worst time to trade for the Red Wings, it will get better when the season is over. Stick with the tools we have and make some moves during the offseason, in which the new CBA will also help us.

C'mon guys lets be fair. Yes, the loss today was extremely painful but what do you expect if you put a bunch of relatively young players on your blueline ? That they are playing like Lids, Stuart and Raf ? They are making mistakes, because they are young, thats just the price you have to pay. In the very article that is cited here, Holland also said that the team is in transition. And thats how they played. Get used to it the next two to three years till its ironed out. Switching to panicmode now and demanding overpriced trades is absolutely useless.

Right at the start of the season most of the media wanted to hand the Cup to New York because of the acquisition of Nash. At the moment they are fighting get a playoff spot. Not saying that the Pens will fail but this is still sports not mathematics. Its also a risk breaking up a well working roster so if they succeed and get the Cup in the End it would be well deserved. So I'm really exited to see if it works out and hope we'll be able to see a Boston vs. Pittsburgh - Series in the Playoffs.

Then it seems there is already something going on. Can't believe they would sent down Cola or White or Quincy and risk to lose them for nothing on waivers. Don't know which one I would trade as we still don't know exactly how Cola would fit in here but if I had to pick one it would be White. He has a good shot for sure but he does struggle to create plays and feeding our offense. And that's our major problem in my opinion right now.

signed Wings sign D Dan DeKeyser to 2-year deal
derblaueClaus replied to Serratoni's topic in General
Thats great news. Lets hope he lives up to the expectations. -
Jep. Brunner, Abby and of course Dats are our best so far tonight.
-
Our D is pretty good in taking away chances but god are they awful in "quaterbacking" our offensive game.

Win at Sunday would be great, win today is crucial. LGW, put the ice on the cake of a great roadtrip.
-
+1.
-
Great game so far for Monster. Just imagine Conclin or McCollum in the net now. Got to give Holland credit for this acquisition.
-
Datsyuk !!!!!!
-
PP Wings again.
-
Was the best Wing in first, so nothing to worry about Monster tonight. Our turnoverrate in combination with the somewhat sloppy D is something different though.
-
Seems legit.
-
Poor Monster.Making two saves and left alone by the D.
-
I have a feeling that they could rig up a soccergoal behind Backstöm right now and the Wings still would miss it.
-
Gus !!!
-
Lets say it with Forrest Gump : 2013 Red Wings are like a a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get.
-
Hank !
-
Average Howard doing average work again.

Bought a Package of Toblerone this day and will eat it during the game. So it would fit in very nice if Brunners scores tonight. GO Wings GO !
