That's the assumption. He isn't at the moment. And I'd rather trade AA for someone who isn't a winger or a pick. Otherwise you trade one 3rd nipple for another, potentially worse 3rd nipple. I'm not arguing that he will bring a king's ransom. But to trade a Winger for a maybe better or slightly worse Winger, while we already have a logjam of those isn't my preferred option. It's simply an unnecessary risk. We have other positions that we need to strengthen.

It doesn't matter where he was picked, it matters what he is and will develop in. The argument you and @krsmith17 make here is, that you basically say that Puljujarvi is worth athat 4th overall pick. But is he really? His record doesn't proof that at all. And if he has been "misdeveloped" (as if a players ability relies just on the development of the team) I'd rather take my chance with AA who probably isn't or trade AA for a pick from which we can develop ourself.

That might be a tad too early, but who knows. This cap league is crazy. Just need to look where the Avs were three years ago and look where they are now. That could be us in a few years.

It was at least a game the Wings could and should have won. We had worse games this season.

Goaltending is Voodoo. I'm with @krsmith17: If we had our team set and the only missing piece was goaltending maybe then I'd take the risk picking Askarov in Round 1. But since that is not the case Yzerman should pass and rather load us up with a few goalie prospects during later rounds. Whoever is advocating singing Holtby should take a look at his stats the last three years: .907, .911, .897. He is probably as done as Howard is. Will some dumb GM throw money and term at him regardless? Probably. But it shouldn't be our GM. I'm all for singing Lehner though, if we get the chance.

While it isn't ideal to lose someone after two games off the waivers, but Comrie probably wasn't the solution to our long term goalie problem. But Yzerman better solves the problem this summer unless he wants to prolong the tank. Howard is declining and unlikely to get back to his former self and Bernier is too mediocre to build a cup winner around.
