Well said. I listened to the Puck Podcast recently and they pointed out that of our 08 Cup winning team only Zetterberg, Kronner, Datsyuk and Franzen are still on the team. We witness a new generation taking over. And with Babcock gone and Larkin, Pulkkinen, Tatat, Mrazek and Nyquist on the roster it starts tonight. It's a great time to be a Red Wings Fan. Can't wait for for the season to start.

I watched only the second period and I thought Toronto played a very structured, disciplined game. Hard to say if that was because Montreal played bad, but the Habs were struggling to get their offense going. I was actually surprised how Toronto played in that second period. They won't make the playoffs, but they already are beyond the dumpster fire they were last year and won't be easy to play against.

True, but in a rape case it is very difficult to prove anything without DNA or other evidence from the presumed victim. And if there is no other evidence, nobody will ever know what actually happened.

It's hard to predict our season, mainly because of two factors : 1. Blashill. Yes, he coached some of our players at the AHL level. Yes, he won a Calder Cup and was probably regarded as the best coach in the AHL. Can he do it at the NHL-level ? Probably, but how fast and how good is the question and the answer is far from sure. He may, on the other hand, ignite a new spark in the players, and maybe our team even underarchived under Babs strict rule. We just don't know exactly what we will get yet. 2. The Atlantic will be a tight race. We slipped in last year and Ottawa will probably not repeat their Hamburglar run. But Florida is getting stronger and of course you can't count out Boston, despite or even because of their locker room problems. And who knows, maybe Ottawa surprises us again. Nearly everything is possible here. What is sure is that our young players have another season under their belt, so that will strengthen our team as a whole. We got one of the top free agents this offseason in Green whose playstyle will help the Wings, at the very worst on the third pair. We have a strong goalie tandem that is pretty equal regarding the abilities to keep the puck out of the net. That will result in a overall better goalie performance than last year, which is not an unimportant piece in a tight race for a playoff spot. All this can result in various results, from missing the playoffs to winning the division title. I take the boring middle lane in predicting that we will make the playoffs via finishing at least third in the Atlantic. How far we can go after that ? Ask me again in April.

That is the problem : It will never completely go away if he agrees on a settlement. But processes like this tend to get very ugly for the accused weather he or she is guilty or not so it's absolutely understandable if Kane wants to get out of this without the case going to trial.

Definitely. And there are very few white male NHL players or millionaires available to serve in that jury I fear. Not to go to far into politics, but as MasterPavel said : There is no perfect system. Here in Germany you are basically sentenced by a single judge for minor crimes or the Schwurgericht for heavier ones which consist of three judges and two citizens (called Schöffen). That is not much better than your jury trials,in fact even worse because you can't influence the composition at all. And judges are not better or worse in finding out the truth than any other person on this planet (with the exception of Brian McGrattan of course).

Interesting stuff to read, there are some things and thoughts that are the same around the world when you're defending a client. (If it's a constitutional state that is.)
