Red Wings add Jim Hiller and Andrew Brewer to coaching staff
derblaueClaus replied to hillbillywingsfan's topic in General
He is, together with Andrew Brewer. http://redwings.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=727442 We're complete it seems. -
Thats the way it is. I have the greatest respect for my opponents in the Square. You share something that few people do. That doesn't hinder you to beat the crap out of the guy during the fight. But before and especially after it there is some deep understanding for the guy in the other corner.

I suppose he also put something into his coffee. How many goals did Roy let in that night again ?

Signed Tatar Signs 3 Year Deal $2.75 mill AAV
derblaueClaus replied to marcaractac's topic in General
Maybe a little bit too much considering he's a RFA. But we have the capspace and it's a reasonable price for a 20 goal Winger so it's ok but not perfect. -
70 $ ? Honestly ? I'd like to see the sales numbers for that thing. And btw, you know it's offseason when the only thing you're discussing is the price of an ugly team-sweater. I thought the only point about them is the're looking cheap.

Good choice. Important for our style of play. Thats at least one good news in our offseason. ( Before somebody else does it : "Advanced stats are our offseason aquisition." )

'District Detroit': Red Wings' New Arena Details Released
derblaueClaus replied to TheCaptain19's topic in General
The new arena indeed looks a little bit like the Allianz Arena in Munich. Which I'd treat as a compliment. And the whole concept around it seems solid. With all the memories I'd liked to watch my first Red Wings game in person at the Joe but I can't make it happen over the next three years. But this new arena looks very compelling and for sure will be filled with new memories pretty fast. First Stanley Cup Final at this new UFO? I promise I'll be there in person (disclaimer: Provided I'll be able get and afford the tickets ) . -
Trust me, you're not. I can't wait for the season to begin. On Topic: Thats good news I guess. Is anything known about his style or strength and weaknesses? I heard he shouts a lot.

Signed Wings re-sign Cleary $1.5 mill + $1mill in game bonuses
derblaueClaus replied to anthonyn66's topic in General
That is not what I said nor meant. I can understand that you're upset but stop turning my words around. -
I read somewhere that they are only looking for two bottom 6ers with aprox. 2 Mil. left. But I'm admittedly not that much into the Caps. We'll then see I guess.
-
Why Washington thinks they can get a player like Tatar? Because of this : They can still fit Green under their cap and they have the rooster space. I don't think he's as expandable as everyone is making him and that will result in a higher price.
-
Overpayment and not probable imho. Given Tatar is not signed Tatar for Green + cond. high pick sounds fair to me. But I doubt it will happen.

Lucic is one of the best powerforwards in the game but spears people from behind out of nowhere and reacts like a sissy when he lost a series because he couldn't stand the trashtalk . Not what I call "tough as nails" and certainly nobody I want to have on a team I cheer for. Of course the Drafting relies on the scout reports but trading picks up and down and the last decisions who is draftet lays in the hands of Holland and his staff. The Scoutingstaff itself also is in Hollands responsebility. Of course he doesn't do it all alone but you have to give him credit where it is due. -

I'll make it short: The good (drafting, prospects) far outweighs the bad (arguably the missed FAs, signing of washed up Vets). And, maybe most important for me, the Organisation is a classy one and Holland is a huge reason for that. I don't want to win a cup if we deal with things like Vancouver or Montreal or with having players who behave like assholes on the ice like Lucic. -

Despite getting my head cut off saying it at this time in this thread I do. -
Which, to be fair, was pretty damn difficult given the injuries, the resulting fluctoation and the lack of a proper QB for the second unit. But yeah, Renny is replaceable so if he leaves it doesn't weaken the Organisation has hard as the leaving of others had.

I did it like BOS. I loled. And now I hope that Holland knows more about Hockey than I do. -
Who has been Ken Holland's worst recent free agent signing?
derblaueClaus replied to uk_redwing's topic in General
Sammy. Not only did he waste a rooster spot on top of it his caphit hurt us badly. -
If Washington puts a 3rd or 4th round pick in the mix to make up for Greenes remaing short contract length I'd be ok with the trade Greene for Tatar. Only problem is I don't think Washington will do it. This team has the chance to get both of their PP-Units run by a (proven) QB. Thats an asset not many teams have and will/would make the Caps a dangerous opponent to play against. I don't think that Tatar would make up for that.

Congratulations Flashy! If my english were better I might be able to express how much I enjoy your GDTs. Because it isn't this post has to suffice.

Kane & Toews Sign Identical 8-year, $10.5M AAV Extensions
derblaueClaus replied to _SP_'s topic in General
Make it 5 and I agree. Haven't heard it about Chicago at all. The Pens on the other hand are a prime example of my point: They didn't won a cup since '09 because they lack depth, which is because Crosby and Malkin eat up a lot of their capspace. Granted, there were other reasons too, but the main reason for me is the lack of quality bottom 6 forwards and/or defenders. Chicago and LA were strong teams over the past few years because they had the caproom to afford those kind of guys. With these contracts Chicago has taken the Pittsburgh road and it will show over the next few years. -

Unless there is another Lockout around the corner this should handcuff the Hawks pretty badly. If I got my math right thats over 25% (close to a third) of their current capspace tied into these two players. -
Put in a pick and I think it's a deal we should give a try. At worst he is a bust and we don't resign him next year. But even then we got rid of Kindl. Problem is we might run into capspace problems if we want to resign Alfie.
-
I agree to a certain degree. It depends on what this team is supposed to be. I think we arrived at a point where the Backoffice has to make fundamental strategic decisions on how to proceed (if they didn't already). Stick with the Lidstrom system in which we build around a strong and deep D with mostly small but fast and skilled forwards or do we change to the Mantha system with a big, strong and highly effective offense but just a decent D-Corps. I don't want to make it sound like the systems exclude each other but every Team needs a plan, a philosophy around which it is build and I think we lack that right now.

signed Quincey re-signed by DET. 2 yr s $4.25 mill AAV
derblaueClaus replied to haroldsnepsts's topic in General
This is how I see it: This 1st July is a big clusterf*** for us. There have to be serious problems within the Organisation if a team like the Caps got choosen over us. These Problems have to be analysed and adressed by Kenny and/or the Ownership. However I don't think these problems can be solved this Offseason. Because of this I think the signing of Quincy is not ideal but reasonable. We were simply in need of a D-Man not named Kindl or Lashoff. Can anybody imagine how atricious a second (!) paring of DeKeyser/Lashoff would be? And to think that the Kids in GR would step up and fill the gap is very optimistic. It does work with exceptional gifted guys like DeKeyser, others need their time to get used to the NHL. Playing constantly on the second pair is asking to much of the guys. Quincy is a stopgap for these 2 years to get these Kids ready, nothing more. Holland knows that, he knows that. There is no other reason why his contract is how it is.To assume Holland signed him as the solution for our problems is an insult to his intelligence. Holland signed him because he had no choice and Quincy was willing to play the patch for the next two years.
