We don't look that bad in my opinion. At least not 5on5. We just take to many dumb penalties and looking bad with a man less isn't that difficult. It was just a matter of time till one of them scored.

Exactly what I thought. But to be fair they shut it down in a decent way. Like Smith so far.

So much for Howard cold streak. Good save by him.

You could ask the same about the Predators game. We are pretty much even right now. P.S.: Hope DeKeyser is ok.

Let's GO Wings ! End this streak.

    Brendan Smith

I'm interested to see how the transition works tonight with Smith in the lineup again. Maybe he is already much more important for our team than most of us (me included) realize.

I'm with you on this. I really like Andersson, he makes a lot of right decisions on the ice. But if the return fits our needs then sure, why not ? We have enough (potential) bottom six players to compensate.

    What would you do?...

I don't think it's a good move to trade for Veteran D-Man. Remember, we had/have those in White and Quincy. Moreover it's far more valueable to us to keep our young D playing to gain some experience. If we can get a #2 D-Man go get him but otherwise I'd keep the D untouched. My lines would look like this : Zetterberg - Datsyuk - Bertuzzi Abdelkader - Weiss - Alfredsson Franzen - Helm - Tatar Miller - Andersson - Samuelsson Kronwall - DeKeyser Smith - Ericsson Kindl - Lashoff This D is a risk but we should take it.

    What would you do?...

But only after they had succsessfull careers in Ottawa, Dallas, Colorado, you name it. But seriously, what would I do ? One wise countrayman of yours once said you must use the tools you have. So play this season out and see how far we can get with this rooster. Maybe try to shop Totoo and Miller for some late round picks. There are unfortunatley no other options this season. But bear in mind that the season is still young and there is plenty of time for the team to get adjusted. We have a lot of young guys, players who come from a long-term injruy (Weiss, Sammy) and new players who have to get accustomed to our system. And for that they are doing pretty good. In my opinion this rooster has some potential and isn't as bad as it seems right now. For example a third line consiting of Franzen - Helm - Tatar sounds great. After the season take a look how older guys like Alfie, Sammy, Bert, Cleary have performend, get rid of them or sign some again for shorterm contracts. Bringing up Nyquist is mandatory. If possible resign Gustavsson, I would also use our buyout for Franzen and offer him a contract that wouldn't affect our cap hit after he resigns. Then try to land one of the avaible free agency stars like Phaneuf or Vanek. If we then still have holes in our rooster fill them up with our guys from Grand Rapids.

We were looking much worse last season. Right now we're still in a playoffspot and we don't play terrible hockey. If the Wings are able to fix the problems reagrding transition and passing we're good. And we all know that SOs are not only a matter of skill but also of luck. Sometimes it's just that little bit of luck thats missing.

Those turnovers are killing us. I don't know why even guys like Kronwall and Ericsson have problems with getting the puck out of our zone.

Monster ! You cannot ask more from a goalie. He's keeping us in the game.

Not bad, but we are not dominating either. Helm with a nice goal in the first, Sammy with a good shot for a deflection by Datsyuk. Some slightly bad turnovers in our backend, but nothing the Isles could convert upon. Monsters looking good so far with the exception of the 3-3 tieing goal.

Or two maybe not so good games. Howards the major reason we're doing good despite our young D. Why ? I'm exited to see if and how this team fights back. The game has just begun to get thrilling.

Good period with an unfortunate ending but it's still tied. Ride out that double-minor and everything is possible.

As long as the refs are helping defending the puck I don't mind such calls.

"How important was your goal that tied the game up ?" "Not impotant at all, you know, my team likes to loose." I'm still waiting for the athlete to answer a stupid question in that way. Otherwise a decent first period from the Wings.
