  1. I'm just hoping Z gets 900 point mark this season. Not really caring about wins or losses because of the depression side effect. May as well cheer on player milestones. Mantha hits 20 goals? Any takers? Sheahan scores zero goals at 82 game end, any takers?

    Goodbye Ken Holland?

Well, that and the thing that's a bit annoying is people give Yzerman credit for all the Tampa moves including the ones he actually hasn't made and happened before he got there but when it comes to Holland "it was all Scotty Bowman". Personally I would be happy with Yzerman coming here because I believe he's a good GM and he would be a good candidate, BUT good doesn't mean AMaZing, by any means. I'd take hire him if there are no better suitors. For instance if Lou Lamoriello was available, I believe he would be the better choice over Yzerman. I think for me, a new GM would be nice just for the sake of having a new voice leading the way. I fully believe even GM's voices can get stale and Holland's time has expired just like Babcock's did.

    Goodbye Ken Holland?

It ends at the same time as Holland's ends with Detroit. Coincidence eh?

"Done proving myself", "Move on", but then comes the "Nice try" instigator phrase. My point is you flip flopped on Nielsen. People were complaining about Nielsen's signing and you justified it by saying "meh, we needed a top 6 center". But months later you're talking about how the contract is all of a sudden "crap". I'm not talking about Holland and his other history or Matt Martin or whatever, I'm purely talking about Nielsen, his contract, and Holland's relation to the contract, the reason behind it and your initial response to it and your response now. You can backtrack all you want but saying "We needed a top 6 center" and then saying that the contract is crap after 5 months of hockey is exactly what it is: Hindsight bias. I mean you even said in your post on the previous page "I don't care about hindsight, but the contract is crap..". So I'm not actually pulling anything out, I'm just pointing out your own words lol. And the bigger point is - it's so easy to act like one knows better after 5 months as opposed to the day of the signing. What's cool is saying the contract term is crap the day of the signing (cough cough, called it)

    Interview with Petr Mrazek

Funny you didn't post the topic about Nielsen but did the other. I didn't say you were jumping with joy so nice try trying to make an extreme argument and spinning it lol. People were complaining the signing and you said "meh we needed a top 6 center" justifying Holland's choice basically, but here you are doing the opposite with the hindsight 20/20 glasses saying things like "our GM blew it", "the contract is crap". I'll pull the exact post out later if needed. The point is you first justified the contract when it happened and now that the team is doing bad you're predictably doing what everyone on LGW.com does : Scapegoating Ken Holland for your frustrations and acting like you knew better than Holland all along. We're all computer desk pros. Hell even I get carried away sometimes.

    Interview with Petr Mrazek

If Arizona picked Chyrchrun after we traded down for Cholowski and got rid of Datsyuk's contract and signed Steven Stamkos for July 1st, 2016, this conversation wouldn't be happening. Actually wait, it still would be happening since Stamkos was injured this year. People would be crying about how Holland "shouldn't have signed Stamkos, he's injury prone, BLAH BLAH BLAH I know how to GM better in front of a computer screen on my desk at home"

Pilgrimage to Detroit - Must Do Things

    Interview with Petr Mrazek

You do realize Chychrun is basically the size of Dekeyser? Maybe has like 5 or so pounds on DK. They're both lanky skinny. All of our other defenseman weigh more than Chychrun lmfao. Talk about overrating a player. Chyrchrun is not that good. He might be down the road but you're acting like losing out on Chychrun is a big deal. It's not. He wouldn't have sniffed the Red Wing locker room even if we drafted him.

I don't know why you keep saying "he". You should be saying "I" or "myself"

    Pavel Datsyuk..

How do you think he woulda fared in the NHL this year? I think his team wins the championship. I think Datsyuk cares more about getting a KHL trophy in front of family anyways. Makes you wonder if that's another reason why Datsyuk booked it. Maybe he saw his use in the NHL was dwindling down and didn't want to be like the 60 year old Bruce Wayne in a Batman costume.

    Pavel Datsyuk..

Not doing so hot in the KHL comparatively, he must have aged badly between the beginning of last season into this season. http://en.khl.ru/players/4698/ 31 points in 41 games. The KHL leader in points has 84 points in 58 games. Kovalchuk has 74 points in 57 games. Nikita Gusev, 24 year old forward, has 68 points in 54 games and was the 7th round pick by Tampa Bay. Would be nice if we cuda snagged him. As a comparison, Panarin scored 62 points in 54 games in KHL before he went to the Blackhawks.

They can and they usually vote based off of dumb biased s***. But I don't think they all understand the concept of advance metrics yet. I don't think anyone truly does. They had a metric called "Quality of Competition" back in the late 00s which just got completely discredited. Oddly enough Zetterberg was one of the highest in the league when it came to the hardest quality of competition faced. (Makes sense, he was always matched up against the opponents top centers) Advanced metrics is cool but it's still not solid yet. But as far as Corsi CF% and Fenwick, Z is doing just good, he's about 51% but his career average is 55%. The team's average is like 48% so he's still above that. One of the best on the team actually (1% behind Vanek, but Vanek also plays on a 3rd line and practically zero competition). Then again people have now said that over the course of the season, quality of competition evens out so it doesn't really mean anything. But I personally don't buy it. But Wyshynski is right as far as the advance metrics go, between Kesler, Koivu and Zetterberg all three start on the defensive zone more often than they do in the offensive zone, yet their Corsi (shots generated against the opposition) is still above 50%. Whereas Kopitar, Bergeron get more offensive zone starts (which might give them an advantage and buff their stats). I guess in english what this means is that Kesler, Koivu and Zetterberg are put in positions to defend more often and somehow turn it into their favor and cause more offense for the team; which is impressive. Bergeron and Kopitar are not put in the position to defend as often and at the same time do generate a lot of offense. To me the latter is less impressive than the former. But the caveat is that the offense Bergeron generates is far superior to everyone elses (his Corsi is almost 60% - which means the puck is being shot at the opponent 60% of the time when he's on ice and only 40% of the time against his goalie). Means the dude drives really good possession. But he's obviously not doing much with it. Sure he might be generating some shots, but his point tally is still s***ty. 29 points in 52 games Unlike Zetterberg, Kesler, Koivu who all have around 38-42 points in 52 games or whatever. . Someone else can probably explain this better than me (Kipwinger? Buppy?) but I think advance metrics are all cool but they need to translate into production too. In the case of Bergeron he's got great metrics but it hasn't translated into results. In the case of Kesler it has.
