It still is related to scoring being down. And Kane last year and Crosby this year are likely just outliers. If we want 4-5 guys put up 100+ points, that won't happen without some goalie equipment changes. The top scorers are still within range of each other, it's just that their rate isn't as high as it was in 2009 or before. Mcdavid 51 Crosby 50 (although in only 37 games, clear outlier) Malkin 49 Kane 47 Burns 45 Crosby's outlier may not happen next year. Last year he finished barely above ppg at 85 points in 80 games

For a lot of these players it's all fine and dandy till they hit around age 31 or 32. Then the decline gets real. Ovechkin will likely maintain a decent goal scoring rate simply because he's just one strong dude and for him that's all it take to shoot and score. Guys like Kopitar and Kane and Backstrom who rely on more (such as speed, hand eye, playmaking) might not be as well off when they get to that point and suddenly 1000 points starts to become a harder task. But I do think they most likely will long as they age well and don't have chronic injuries

That's embarassing for a goalie supposedly considered "as consistent as any goalie in the NHL" and someone who is better than Howard.

Kopitar is questionable imo. Depends on how he ages and how the Kings progress as a team. They've been on a decline for some reason Kane, Backstrom seems like they will, Caps will likely be good a while and Blackhawks seem to always be good.

I'm not sure if he's as bad as you're making him out to be but to answer the question of why people think he's our future. It's probably because Mrazek was overhyped and people have equal amount of hatred towards Howard and henceworth started worshipping Mrazek. Also because the org (Holland?) stated in the summer that he'll be #1 I want Mrazek to be the future as well. I'm not entirely sure if he will be at the moment. He may need a few more years till he can keep a #1 spot or else he might end up having to be in a tandem role long term. The issue I have is when people kept making excuses for him for 4 months and were acting completely oblivious to his poor play. It's January and Mrazek still hasn't taken the reigns. I'm rooting for him, but I also got pretty annoyed with all the excuses.

What I wish I liked : 1. Mrazek 2. Coreau 3. Howard What I ended up liking so far this season 1. Howard 2. Coreau 3. Mrazek Sucks, but Mrazek just hasn't been cutting it. And people here know well that I hate excuses. So I'm not making any excuses for him. Coreau's size playing a huge advantage at times. Imo he should stay as a backup because this league is all about blocking shots and being big in front of the net. He's not particularly a skilled goalie but he's just a wall.

Well if Tatar stays demoted and Nyquist gets to play with Mantha and Z and if AA continues to dominate, then yea we probably could get a nice win streak going. Our offense has to flourish.

If it's a 1st rounder then for sure do it imo. But because the NHL market is so screwed up now it's probably going to be a 2nd rounder.

Seriously, that flick of a wrist shot was amazing. Interesting though, Datsyuk went end to end but AA actually went from our faceoff dot, caused Malkin and Wilson to hit each other on accident (which was hilarious btw if anyone noticed) and then skated back behind our net and THEN end to end lol. Watch this video from the beginning closely, it's actually hilarious.

Datsyuk's drive was pure skill but his goal (when it actually went in) was lucky. AA's shot was beautiful and cleanly beat the goalie. Was a goal scorers goal imo, put it exactly where he wanted to. I strongly believe AA's goal will be goal of the year. Wasn't Datsyuk's goal of the year too by TSN that year?

I thought AA's goal was better than even Datsyuks against Nashvile.

AA has some promising potential. What's great is it's not like he does it while playing with Zetterberg or something like Larkin did last year and Mantha is this year. He creates his own offense regardless of the linemates.

Overall I thought this is was a great game.
