10/29 GDT: Bruins 1, at Red Wings 0

Well if Detroit wins they can be on track for what Michigan has done to Michigan State in College Football history... You know, they're 69-35 wins for Michigan over MSU Maybe Detroit will have that advantage on Bruins someday. A win tonight would be progress!

10/29 GDT: Bruins 1, at Red Wings 0

I do expect Bruins to be losers... like Michigan State. And hopefully Wings can extend the win streak to 7, like Michigan extended theirs to 8. And Boston extends their losing streak to 4, like Michigan State extended theirs to 6. Maybe Boston will pull their goalie while being down 5-1 in a heroic attempt to make the score look closer... but in the process get scored on with an empty netter... just like Michigan State tried to make their score closer with a 2 point conversion - but got scored on instead.. Oh the similarities that could be!

So after Michigan wrecks Michigan State today, I'd like to see the Red Wings do the same to the Bruins

What Happens to the Defense Once Kronwall Returns?

When Kronwall comes back, The Don will have his right hand man back doing "business" on the "back end" for him.

    Pulkkinen claimed by Minnesota Wild

Call me cheap but I still wanted something for him back in 2015. Poor guy, I hope he gets an oppurtunity somewhere though. Looks like he cleared waivers.

    Pistons could play in LCA

So at least one team could possibly make the playoffs at the LCA next year I had to guys. I had to.

    DoughJoe gets coverage on TSN/BarDown

I know people were poking fun at this thread initially, but surprisingly this stuff is getting some news coverage on CBS local and Mlive. https://www.google.com/amp/www.mlive.com/articles/19541456/father_and_son_pushing_for_lit.amp?client=safari https://www.google.com/amp/detroit.cbslocal.com/2016/10/26/theres-a-new-entry-in-the-little-caesars-arena-nickname-debate/amp/?client=safari

10/27 GDT : Red Wings 2, at St. Louis Blues 1 (SO)

Nyquist is one of our best players right now. He's overall a good player. He's also one of the fastest players on the team after Helm, AA/Larkin imo.

10/27 GDT : Red Wings 2, at St. Louis Blues 1 (SO)

5:45 am, just finished watching game on my DVR (yeah thats the life when you're working dumb hours). Mrazek stole that game. Our goalies are Red Hot. Nielsen doing exactly as expected and being important top 6 guy when short handed. It was also good to see the Don step in and take care of "business" at the end there. It's not only a 6 game win streak for the Wings but also a 6 game GDT streak for some folks not posting since we're winning

    10/25 GDT - at Red Wings 4, Hurricanes 2

Sheahan just doesn't cut it to pull the piano. There were times last night where Z and Tatar were doing more work in the corner battles. Idk why Sheahan just doesn't like pushing and shoving I guess. I hope Abby gets put back on the top line Wing position when he's back.

Very good game, I was at the 4th row seats and got a first hand look at some of our new players. Steve Ott is a pretty good penalty killer and makes that 4th line better. He's better than Miller and Glendening imo. Sheahan sucks. Probably the softest player on our squad, he's a cancer to our top line. Harsh I know but that was the general consensus around where I was sitting. Tatar looks off too. But Nyquist, Larkin, AA looked great. Thought defense played pretty well too. Overall pretty clean with minimal lapses. Z... looks different. There were times I felt like he could have made the extra effort but just held back, wouldn't even attempt to skate hard. Either he's just not good anymore or he's purposely holding back to maintain reserves. We'll find out I guess. Great game, keep this up and we'll be fine. Fix the weaknesses and we have potential to do some damage.

Not sure if I should laugh at the coincidence or be depressed that the Red Wings and Lions are in the same thoughts these days

Sproul's right handedness itself is clutch. First time we played 3 right handed defenseman in a while it seems.

Also where are people who have been talking this team down? I don't see as much positivity when we win. Come on now, 4 wins in a row is huge, did we ever have that last year? Also I like Sproul. Also this.

Usualy I would be in support of sitting Z on a back to back but because he didn't have a training camp, I think it's better to keep his mind and body working for the time being.

    Interesting Vancouver Stat

Oops I didn't see this when I made the "Official 2016/2017 Red Wings Season Thread" earlier today. My mistake. Guess that can be deleted then.

Blashill tinkering with lines after Tampa loss

To be fair Larkin has been the worst face off taker in recent Red Wings history. I don't know how much he practiced over the summer but clearly it was not enough. Don't forget that when Datsyuk and Zetterberg started their careers, they started as 3rd line players and went head to head on faceoffs against lesser competition. Larkin is getting completely wrecked on faceoffs by top line centers. They should have him take O-zone faceoffs at the very least though...

    10/19 GDT - Red Wings 2 at Rangers 1

Miller had a good game, I'm not arguing that. All I'm pointing out is that Zetterberg and Nielsen led in ice time so they were obviously most relied upon. And to close out the game it was Zetterberg/Nielsen not the 4th line guys, although Glendening was on there for a shift as a backup center. Larkin might have been chasing the puck but he was also led in takeaways with 2 last night, so he must obviously be good at chasing and taking, which is a part of defense/ Selke voting by the way. And even the blocking shots concept.. our top lines players did a good if not better job of blocking shots last night than our 4th line did. Tatar blocked 2 shots, Abdelkdar 2, Zetterberg 1, Nielsen 1. So while the 4th line might be good on "Traditional defense", it seems like the top line guys can do all that (they have been) and score points as well. Traditional defense and possession aren't mutually exclusive. You can be good at both. Ask Kris Draper or Kirk Maltby.
