Yeah it's not that black and white. If Datsyuk's 7 million can be traded then so can Franzen's + Kronwall's combined 8 million (or whatever it is) if it came down to it.

I get the Kronwall assumption, but why again is Zetterberg not going to play in 3 years (when Kronwall's contract is up) ? What about his medical history allows you to conclude he will be on an LTIR? His rate of games played per season has increased the last two years (by a significant amount actually). Drop in skill level isn't the same as injury lol. Based on his health the last two years and his game play, there's probably a stronger indication that he'll play out most of his contract as an expensive 3rd liner. With Kronwall I'd probably deduce that he could go LTIR if his knees aren't fixed soon. If they are able to operate on it then he could very well finish out the contract. Without knowing their medical history (we have no idea what's wrong with Kronwall, they've been very vague) we can't really judge what's going to happen. You're making a ton of assumptions here without any solid evidence.

I mean he'll play really really well because KHL is a crappy league. One of Datsyuk's biggest challenges (maybe the only one because he was that good) were the NHL defender's ability to take space away from him. KHL defender's just can't do that at the level NHL defenders can. Datsyuk will be running circles around those guys without effort. Add in Kovalchuck holy jesus.Looking at it from Datsyuk's perspective, he made a genious decision to leave. He'll still be a badass even at age 38 and he'll have fun doing it. Of Course looking at it from my perspective as a fan... Grrrrr....

Played only 35 or so games. You underestimate AA and overestimate Fowler, we're going to disagree on this for the entire season and beyond. Not sure anymore with the injuries piling up. I want to say Ericsson for the salary dump. Maybe Miller. Howard should stay because of Mrazek's inconsistency he's shown the last two years but if he was moved, I wouldn't be upset. My mind might change in a month though.
