Putting every single player on a realistic time line with equal amount of training and in their primes? If all players were in their primes, trained in CURRENT DAY standards in the year 2016- 1. Howe 2. Yzerman 3. Fedorov 4. Lidstrom 5. Shanahan First of all, the whole "Howe played hefore 80s" argument goes out the window if you bring him to present time and give him current day training. Howe was ambidextrous which already puts him at an advantage. Howe could hit, score, set up. Howe was said to be naturally gifted in all aspects of the game there's nothing that would say he wouldn't be better than all the more recent Red Wings if he were to train in post 80s training regimen. So enough with the "he's not good because he was pre 80s" bs argument. Inherent abilities have nothing to do with external exposure. External exposure molds inherent abilities. I just brought Howe into current day. Now deal with it.

^ You can definitely put Sheahan on the 4th line. $2 million dollar 4th liner is not that expensive with the upcoming cap raise. Don't split up Z and Larkin imo. Tatar - Neilsen - Vanek Zetterberg - Larkin - Abdelkader AA - Helm - Nyquist Sheahan - Glendogmillionaire - Miller/Ott Each line would have a defensively responsible player, a scorer and a "powerforward" The third line would be one of the fastest in the NHL. Tatar likes to shoot and Vanek is the type of player that scores on rebounds. Larkin and Zetterberg have good chemistry. Helm is defensively responsible to make up for AA and Nyquist is the primary scorer on the line. 4th line would easily be better because of Sheahan's decent scoring ability, something Glendog and Miller lack. -

It's sounds like it IS about feelings the way you put it. "If I was Mantha I'd want a trade". Blah blah blah boo freakin hoo. It sounds like you wanted a Jonathan Drouin 2.0 soap opera with the Red Wings. And what exactly happened with Drouin's situation? Jonathan Drouin looked like an idiot spoiled brat. Mantha clearly handled the situation well and didn't turn the it into a matinee of General Hospital like you were hoping for. If anything this entire situation makes Mantha look more professional. He handled it well, didn't overreact, and he came back to GR after Devallano's comments and had an excellent season. He even got called up and got to play with Datsyuk and scored some goals and made Grandad proud. And with a second bout of "criticism" from Holland, Mantha again, handled the situation without overreacting like a spoiled child and my guess is he will deter his critics and hopefully win a spot in the line-up 2016/17. And if he does make the line up. If he does become a top 6 winger in a few years. If he does become the face of one of the most well respected organizations in hockey history.. It will be quite funny to come back and read your overreacting post. And I'm sorry, the last time I checked, in the real world when people overreact against management and authority, whether it's in the business world, the medical field or in the domain of law, they tend to get their ass lit on fire. So instead of being closed-minded and thinking of it through the eye of a Holland critic, perhaps you could look at it through Mantha's perspective? He's a first round pick that has a reputation to maintain and he chose the path of professionalism and poise. Good for him. -

I'm merely pointing out to other members about your post history so they don't take your bait. You were the same guy who tried to start an argument in the Gordie Howe memorable thread and here you are baiting us on about McCarty. It's a Steve Ott thread anyway. -

Lmao guys. This is the same troll that came into the "Gordie Howe passed away" thread and tried to start an argument about how Gordie wasn't the greatest Red Wings. Check it out. http://www.letsgowings.com/forums/topic/81346-gordie-howe-has-passed-away-1928-2016/?p=2677359 -

Yawn. Overly sensitive way of thinking. Mantha is a big boy and I'm glad he hasn't requested for a trade and gotten a boo boo over this. He seems to be taking it better than you have lol. Haven't heard him complain about much and saw his family enjoy his first goal in the NHL as well. -

Salary arbitration almost always get settled. I don't think any of the players last year who went to arbitration went to another team. -
Lol would be the worst skilled NHL captain in history probably

His defensive playstyle is similar to younger Zetterberg. Offensively, similar powerful backhand, good playmaker but not nearly as much of a shot taker. "I know Henrik a little bit," Nielsen said. "He's a player I've always looked up to and try to copy a little bit. You're going to see a little bit of a similar player in me." http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/2016/07/new_red_wing_frans_nielsen_tri.html -

For now, I wouldn't be surprised if Neilsen gets the A. I remember when Alfredsson came here, he immediately got the A when Datsyuk got injured. But the *obvious* answer seems like it will be Abby. But I voted Larkin just to be creative.

Lol he actually does replace Datsyuk though. 1. Defensive center 2. Will put up 50 points just like Datsyuk would have if he played another year (guaranteed he wouldn't have played all 82 games). 3. Really good at shootouts. The other positive in this is he can still kill penalties while Datsyuk no longer did. -

Realistically speaking PVD.. We both know Miller will be playing all 82 games. Management/coaches like him too much. It seems Jurco, Pulk, Mantha are SOL this year, perhaps even AA as well. Unless Neilsen's PK ability makes Miller expendable. Which imo it should but might not. Hopefully there's a trade. -

He probably will be one of the forwards exposed assuming he doesn't have a NMC. Which may end up working out in our favor with his term. -

Holland hasn't done the best job. Miller contract was useless and Helm is overpaid for what he can do (I don't care if he would have gotten more money as a free agent). But I also can't agree with people blaming Holland for not landing some of the players like Lucic, Okposo or Eriksson. It's upto the players whether they want to be here or not. Detroit is not UFA destination it used to be and we have to realize that. Some people revert into their former high school logic and start blaming Holland for literally every single thing. No one can take you seriously if you can't differentiate between an instance when Holland really IS at fault and when he ISN'T. So far I'm frowning at Holland for the Helm/Miller deals but giving a slow golf clap for the Vanek deal and a nod for Nielsen with a questioning look about the length of term. We can only truly know if these things pan out once the season is underway. -
