What if the asking price is Mantha with Datsyuk's contract? Still fire Holland? -

Well like I said, Babs could just be playing the media. For all we know July 1st Stamkos becomes a Leaf. -

"You don't usually add big pieces when you're growing" It was an interview with Darren Dreger and the video is somewhere on TSN. Here's an article talking about it though. Also don't kid yourself. Mike Babcock has a lot of power in the Maple Leafs franchise. He was paid > $6 million to be there and he'll definitely get a say in on what his team should be like. https://leafsnation19.wordpress.com/2016/05/21/babcock-says-you-dont-usually-add-big-pieces-when-you-are-growing-does-this-mean-no-stamkos/ TSN Video http://www.tsn.ca/video/babcock-opens-up-about-matthews-marner-and-leafs-future~870947 -

People think Stamkos might not go to Toronto because Babcock said he wasn't interested in big pieces. Yet. He could be bulls***ting though so. -
I suggest everyone watch this video.
-
I just hope we get to still see him around at the Joe like we still see Yzerman and Lidstrom.
-
Yzerman will always be the worst one for me. Going out on an upset to Edmonton. We were the president's trophy winner that year and were supposed to win the cup. With Pav the decision was easy. We are no were near winning the cup.
-
Said he knew when he signed contract about the 35+ age rule. Asked how long he wants to play hockey responded "I want to play like Gordie Howe". Lol. He sounds very sad.
-
"My family and I have decided that it's time to return home" - @Datsyuk13 He confirmed he'll be playing in Russia next year. Confirmed he will play with KHL.
-
It's official. Helene St. JamesVerified account@HeleneStJames Pavel Datsyuk makes it official, announces he's leaving Detroit Red Wings, returning to native Russia.

They should use him as a 3rd line center or at most a 2nd line winger. His minutes should be limited to 14-15 minutes rather than his 20 minutes or whatever they run him down with. To break down his minutes, I think he should be used less in the 1st and 2nd period and more in the 3rd period to help close out games. Why? Because if you limit his minutes in the 1st and 2nd period and run down the younger guys, that saves him and his back a lot of energy. A 70% energy reserve Zetterberg would be very valuable to close out games as he's still one of the best 2 way players in terms of his ability to read the game. Not to mention Z loves to shoot from all corners. That type of strategy is useful to close out games because it puts pressure on the other team and keeps the puck away from our net. Lastly when he plays in 1st and 2nd periods it should be not as much 5 on 5 but rather more on power play. He's still one of the best power play specialists on the roster. I can see him setting up Stamkos (lol look at me getting ahead of myself) on the PP for a bulk of his goals. Z on the right side on the PP as a left shooter (where he usually plays), Stamkos on the left side as a right shooter (that's where Stamkos scores most of his PP goals). The last two sentences were me talking from fantasy land but everything else in my post I think is a legit way of using him. -

Look at my second point in the post. Management has been considering retiring #91. No decision yet. I thought we all knew this? I mean Holland said it like twice last year. It's no secret. https://www.nhl.com/news/red-wings-could-retire-no-91-for-sergei-fedorov/c-773625 -

Ya'll are forgeting that the streak is valuable to this organization. We are losing our #1 center. Holland will do what he can to keep the streak going. And with the way Zetterberg called Holland on his s*** to be aggressive in the off season (twice by the way), I'm pretty sure the general consensus is that they need to move on from being stagnant and make moves to be able to make a deep playoff run. Can they do it with giving the kids more play time? Maybe. Can they do it by adding more pieces? Definitely. Pulk + Jurco + Datsyuk's contract won't be a surprise to me. I know some of ya'll would hate it but something tells me this teams going to do what it can to be different this off season. I think a lot of us are fixated on Stamkos. Freeing up Datsyuk's doesn't just translate into Stamkos. There's a lot of UFAs out there that can make this team better. Stamkos is just a Plan A to the Plan B, C, D and E that could be potentially possible. And even if Plan C is remotely better than having Jurco and Pulkinnen as water boys for another season then so be it. -

I'm just confused. I thought they were allowed to trade it? The tweet makes it sound like they decided to terminate it instead because he wants to play in Russia. -

Maybe, but Richards isn't chopped liver either. He's a two time cup winner and a Conn Smyth winner who put up 90+ points on two occasions in his career. Anways, Holland already said Fedorov's number is in consideration for retirement. You've got to be kidding. They decided to terminate the contract?! And if so, is it because he wants to play in Russia? I'm confused. -

Out of circulation basically. #6, #16 #91 on the "list". They denied Richards from using #91 last year. -

Yeah but cmon it's Montreal. Stamkos grew up a Maple Leafs fan didn't he? He probably hated that team xD Also with the cap potentially going up I'm starting to lean more towards Tampa being able to re-sign him. -

Stamkos would be an incredible game changer for this team. He covers not only a 1C slot that we have open but he's also a goal scorer. Something we haven't had since the days Z, Hossa scored 40 goals in 08 and 09 respectively. Which was also the last time we went to the finals. All in all, I'd say Tampa, Toronto have a better shot at having him followed by Wings and Buffalo. -
$3 million raise is perfect for Tampa to re-sign Stamkos.. lol.

Hawks trade Teravainen and Bickell to Carolina
kickazz replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
I chose Nyquist because he's better looking. Also I'm not sure if using PP minutes as a supporting argument is convincing for this season. There were times where we looked worse on PP than even strength. But let's be real, I don't see either of them being moved. But at this point if I had to chose, I would move Nyquist because he's paid almost twice as much as Tatar while they both have "similar" total production. So in terms of practicality I'd chose Tatar over Nyquist. -
