Zetterberg should come back as assistant GM. He would quickly overthrow Ken Holland and establish the Swedish Mafia in Detroit. The casinos would be bought out and ran by them too. Swedish babes everywhere serving drinks and dancing on the poker tables. Lidstrom would eventually run for Detroit mayor. Holmstrom would have the judges on his pocket. Emma Anderson becomes Governor. Forseberg and Sundin would be the mob bosses overseas and out of state in connection with us. Karlsson becomes a Red Wing.

What kind of leaves? Palmately compound or pinnately compound?

He has to pass the physical test the players are given to start the season. Supposedly he could not even bend down to tie his skates the 2nd half of the season last year. I'm assuming he'll fail the test. But they are projecting if he can't even train in the 4-5 months he's had off (he's been unable to train much); he'll likely be unable to ever really train at the level he once did again.

I must say, if there's any player Blashill has done a good job of setting up tp be coached well. It's AA. Maybe some of us were critical that first year when he got limited minutes; but with the roles Blash has given AA; he's grooming him up. From time on PP, to PK, to Wing to Center. That's some good coaching. This coming year will be a big one for AA.

Vanek shouldn’t have been signed to begin with. Z is on a contract and Vanek wasn’t. Signing him effectively removed a free roster spot for Zadina or Ras. Holland will continue to have filler roster spots with actual NHL players rather than give it away to rookies or AHL players. If we lost Zetterberg and Nielsen tomorrow; Holland would go out and get an NHL veteran to fill in the roster spot. It’s what he does.

Ah ok I misread that. My 100 work hour week may have altered my vision this morning. Also I think most of us are expecting him on LTIR. This. I would be surprised if he plays this year, but at the same time I wouldnt be surprised because it’s Carl Henrik Zetterberg. A man who defies physical pain.

Why would you be pissed? He’s allowed to play and is on a contract. And still is the best player on the team. You wanted him to retire since like 2013..

At one point in the season last year; Zetterberg could not even bend down to tie his skates, but grinded through all 82 games and did not lose consistency in production. His worst months were November and January, before the back started getting worse. Production did not dip at all in the second half of the season with worsening back condition. How will you react if Zetterberg ends up playing? Pissed?

All he has to do is pass the f***in physical and he can play. Godamit. I was watching this 40 minute video someone put together of some of his goals scored. Epic highlights. 60 something game winning goals

Don Zetterberg will make sure his Russian BFF Datsyuk gets his # retired with legacy intact. 40 and 13 next to each other on the rafters is only fitting. The two were probably the best dynamic duo in recent history. Not to mention their on ice chemistry was second to none. Maybe even almost as good as the Sedin twins.

I mean he’s an alright coach. Not horrendous but I doubt he gets us even close to the cup. I think Babcock was way better and Blashill is a downgrade. But I also think Babcock ran his course here. I think of Blashill as a transition guy like Dave Lewis. I have a feeling we will get a new coach in a couple of years.

The whole play style of "going all out every shift" isn't as easy as it sounds. Some players just have greater will power. The Yzermans, the Zetterbergs, Martin St Louis is another one that comes to mind. Lebron James

I would assume Zetterberg will likely be the guy who gets the biggest say in who the next captain would be. I bet he votes Kronwall, not because he dislikes Larkin, but because he seems the type that wants every young guy to grow into their roles further.

If he is going on LTIR; really there shouldn't be a someone else as a captain. LTIR doesn't always mean the players is done forever and because of that he really shouldn't be losing the captaincy till the contract is up seeing as how he's would still be on the roster. If he retires (he won't). It would and should be Kronwall; just like Kronwall replaced Z in the Olympics as Captain. Larkin should get it after that eventually. Abdelkader is basically like Kris Draper. He's just the lifelong "A" that will never be good enough or come close to being a "C".

Kronwall will probably be captain.

I like Mantha the way he's being used. At this rate he can be a 30 goal scorer. He's good at using his stick in the lane in front of net. It's also helped him become a bit more aggressive and fight battles that he was otherwise avoiding at times. When Ras comes in, Mantha's usage may change but who knows; it seems like he's comfortable in his current usage. I also think that Blashil knew Mantha well enough to know what would work for him in the NHL level. Maybe that's why he's put Mantha into a role he has. Maybe it's transition period until he got better used to how NHL defenders work. Often times these so called snipers in juniors come into the big leagues and all of a sudden their sniping isn't as good anymore (Pulkinnen). A slow transition into more of a traditional "Winger role" could be nice this season but if that fails at least he's learned a role he can fall back into.
