No way. Berzeench, he's the guy that should be running the show. I thought we discussed this already mate.

So what's your opinion? Expendable? Or keep? We have to say goodbye to some guys possibly within the next year..

Overall ranking including defense, hockey IQ, offense. Kronwall Dekeyser (yes green is better offensively than DK, but obviously DK is a much safer and less liable D-man) Green Quincey Marchenko Rest are literally garbage and we're basically stuck with them. But even so the list continues for me as - Ericsson Kindl Smith DK, Kronwall and Marchenko have good hockey IQ and are good defensively (although Marchenko makes a good amount of mistakes but I'll say he's still developing). Kronwall is very good offensively as well while the other two aren't. Kronner can easily put up 50 points if given the opportunity (but having a s**** D partner sort of doesn't help). Kindl is a better offensive D-man than Smith peroid. But both Kindl and Smith have terrible hockey IQ and the fact that they are both in their upper 20s and still make dumb plays consistently is concerning. At this point in their career I'm not sure how much more they can improve. Maybe a little bit more? It's not like they're 22 or 23 years old. Ericsson is a turnover machine but he has grit and has damn good fighting skills that he should utilize more. I think he's a good 3rd pair D-man. Unfortunately I think he became a bit sheltered under Babcock and doesn't seem to want to drop the gloves or throw his body as much. IDK.

Helm is expendable. We have fast young guys coming up who can actually score without needing the help of Datsyuk.

Quincey, Marchenko, and Green are all better defenseman than Smith. They read the play better than Smith does and tend to be in their position more often than not. Smith almost always has to hustle back because he gets out of position or has to make the silly diving play to save a goal. Good defenseman don't need to make diving plays to save a goal (sure it might look cool, but in reality all that indicates is that you screwed up your positioning), good defenseman are two steps ahead of the opposing teams offense and counter them before they can do anything. Refer to Lidstrom youtube videos.

Get rid of him while he's still got a speck of value left. Bring Big Buff. Yes the common denominator is the guy that scored the game winner and follows Blashill's whole mentality of "defenseman stepping up to offense". Kindl is on Blash's good side like it or not.
-
How many more dumb mistakes is Smith supposed to make? Before it was giveaways and putting goals in own net and now it's running over your own teammate. He's turning 27 soon and not a sign of generating common sense. Kronwall -Green Quincey - Dekeyser Ericsson - Kindl/Marchenko

It's such a good pairing that Smith managed to flatten Zetterberg and get a penalty right after

Alright LW you've manage to make me laugh. Good post.

Would people prefer Howard to outplay Mrazek (even if its a tiny bit enough to win starter job) just so Mrazek can't demand that high salary? Then once he's locked in we send Howard packing following season Boom Holland magic. Mrazek locked in for cheaper.

With Green back I hope Blash sticks him with Kronwall like he did right before the injury. Scratch Smith?

That is one thing Datsyuk will solve. I know a lot of people think Datsyuk will solve all the problems. I'm one of those saying well not ALL, but at least "some" of the problems.. "Some" in my opinion includes the puck possession issue. I'm also concerned about clearing the zone on the PP but that's understandable because Datsyuk IS the primary guy responsible for getting into opponent zone during PP. -
$20 says he won't make anything more than 4.75 mill max.

Just rewatched the clip.. Am I the only one that feels bad for Feds there? Like Babs looks RIGHT AT HIM and turns his head and Sergei pauses for a second thinking there might be a greeting and continues to stare. I don't know the story or if there's much to really read into.. but just made me a bit.. Sad.

careful of the fake accounts and trolls. they try to suck you in. Trolololololololol. nice try -
It's because Babcock is like that ex-girlfriend or boyfriend that you pretend to not care about but secretly keep up with/stalk to see if their life is better without you - all the while hoping their life sucks.

Yzerman looked really bad at the Winter Classic. Hah. He also mentioned that he hadn't stepped on ice with skates since his last game with the Wings in 2006. Kind of amazing isn't it? He's a true Red Wing. Hung up the skates with us and that was the last time he was on ice in his life. And the only two times he returns to the ice is for the Red Wings (Winter Classic and Outdoor game coming up) Looking forward to seeing him and the rest of the gang play.

Datsyuk and Zetterberg were in fact our best penalty killers for nearly a decade there. But it's impossible to have both of them kill any more penalties at their age. The last time they were our penalty killers was in 2013 when they were around age 32/34. I'm sure if they were asked to kill penalties they would do a better job than our current PK guys. But what's the point? To get them tired so they can't generate any offense? Our star players are too old to do it all at this point. This is where Glendennings and Millers come in. We don't really have any good PK guys that are top 6 besides those two. Buppy mentioned Abby and Sheahan although I'm not sure if Sheahan would be better than Glendenning or Miller.
