^ exactly the plethora of odd man rushes have got to stop. This is why I mentioned that "i miss datsyuk" because his elite backchecking usually bails us out with a nice takeaway. A simplistic example ofcourse. Hopefully it gets better and things get tighter defensively. Still got tons of games to play.

Just because they won the stanley cup doesnt mean you shouldn't do what you cam to better you defense. Blashill isnt going to walk around that locker room and say "hey guys i know we're letting a ton of shots on our net and allowing odd man rushes.. But its okay!! Because chicago won the stanley cup last year with these stats!" "Keep sucking and we will win too!" That's just god awful coaching.

Your conveniently leaving out one of the most important primary stats for defense which is shots against. For which we rank the 9th worst in the league. That's much worse than the goalie primary stat which is GAA/SV% Mentioned this in the other thread as well but our Shots against per game is 3rd worst in the league. That's not a good sign so far.

Kip all it takes is for your goalie to have a lesser performance and those goals against can turn into top 10 WORST in the league. And then we will have our beloved members complain about how Jimmy sucks. Or how Mrazek should still be in AHL.

I think the bias against Kronwaal is because people see him in Lidstroms role ever since Lidstrom left. Ive done it too, bad habit. Kronwall is our best overall defender objectively speaking.

No they haven't. Have you watch the last game or so? The amount of odd man rushes given up was incredible. The lack of ability to clear the puck from the zone was horrible. There were times where we looked like we were on the PK on full strength. Looking at STATS for goals against isn't going to help in this scenario. It's a weak argument. Mrazek and even Jimmy have bailed out the defense more often than not. The defense has been terrible plain and simple. So has our second and (somewhat) third line. Get the offense going and tighten up the defense and we're good to go.

Of course. Sometimes you get lucky, sometimes you get unlucky. I was just being blunt in the comparison is all.

They were a waste. Pk Subban drafted 43rd, Smith drafted 27th. The difference in these two is mind boggling.

Dude wants to play. He's a die hard red wing so get over it if you think otherwise. He could have opted LTIR to make his money a while back. Practicality just makes some of us believe it's not worthwhile. Then there's others secretly hoping he's done. And other die hard Franzen fans clinging on hope for him to not be done. Like any of you would for your fav player. It's like rinse and repeat every time a franzen thread opens up. Yawn
