If Larkin comes to the NHL this early what will we look like? Well pretty s**** in the future I'll tell you that. Larkin needs to develop more in grand rapids, it's for his own good and ours. I hated how Jurco was brought in and his talents were wasted with linemates he shouldn't have been with. It was a serious detriment to his development and his confidence. IMO the only way he makes the line up is if 5 of our 8 potential NHL ready centers went down with injury. I don't wish that bad of a fortune on the Detroit Red Wings! I mean don't get me wrong, I'd love to see him playing with us.. but I'm making a case for "the greater good" here.

I think Abbys goal scoring had a lot to do with Z slowing down. Most of Abbys goals i believe came off of Zetterberg assists. Usually when a centerman cant score or is slowed down, his wingers make up for it

So to me it looks like neither can be judged to be better than the other. One has favorable ice time with the best player while the other did better on PP. And the stats are too close to call either way.What I conclude from this is. Anyone who thinks Tatar is better or that Nyquist is better. Shut yer trap and let them play more than a full 2 or 3 seasons? Im glad you pulled these stats tho because too many claims and no backups on these forums. I'd like to take a look again end of this season.

Datsyuk , tatar, nyquist are guaranteed to break 20 imo If Zetterberg plays center all year then i predict he scores 14 goals. If he plays Wing he probably can hit 25 with ease. Green just below 20. Abby possible 20 but not probable. Franzen possible 20 with minimum injury

Improved? Sure. Drastically? H*** no. I think you give Smith way more credit than he deserves my friend. Which makes me wonder if he truly is your "boy" or if you are being objective about this. I'll level with you. New coach, he should get more opportunities. Clean slate If we don't see drastic improvement in numbers and game play then I stand my ground that he sux. After 5 season I'm not sure how many more excuses can be made for him

So powerplay success in college and AHL translates to NHL success? Cause in 4 years he's not done very well even in the small powerplay chances he's gotten, he's only scored 1 goal.

Smith sure improved when he decided to throw the puck from the bench onto the ice and get a penalty in one of the most crucial games to get into the playoffs last year. Im sorry but having physical ability isnt the only thing that makes you a good player, having common sense does too this isnt college anymore, cant get away with stuff when hundreds of eyes and cameras are on you.. Smart players tend to do well in this league no matter their shortcomings, intelligence can outweigh flaws

We didn't but you know which series we did have business winning that year? The Chicago one. Which Smith was a prime factor in losing for us. Watch the series highlights if you have a chance, I watched it over the summer and couldn't stop shaking my head. But Smith was also a newcomer then so I wasn't really too upset about it.

Someone said it best a while back.. Smith is the "dumbest Red Wing since Aaron Ward" Forgot who said it but I still laugh out loud when I think of the quote. Thankfully he's only been in the NHL for 4 years and is 26 years old. Give him time, I say probably 7 or so more years.
