Nolan on Helm
-
He's a decent fighter as opposed to the rest on our roster. Except Ericsson. Big E knows how to throw a punch very well.
-
DRZ sounds pretty cool.

#40 #13 #17 reunite?!? On the powerplay that is.. Will be called the no kids and the goat line.
-
lol <- all i gotta say
-
Oh i see what u mean, yeah size wise against Tangradi he matches and is a pretty well skilled fighter
-
Or possibly Abdelkader. But i guess Ericsson is the best we have in that department.

Drugs or not McCarty was still a great teammate on and off the ice. Stuck up for his mates and defended them. His number isnt all that special to me but credit is goven where it's deserved -
Over/Under for Larkin's time as a Red Wing in 15/16

Have there been any Red Wings player that struggled in AHL and turned it around to dominate at NHL level? (Serious question btw) -

Boy seems like no one on our forums feels comfortable letting any new players wear jerseys from the 90s. Retire #30 , #91, #14, #25, #96, AND everyone's favorite Aaron Ward #27. -

So we've concluded then that it wasn't Babs necessarily but a handful of people including Babs that didn't want him back here due to Fedorov one ice performance decline and life and things that were going on in his real life at the time. Now what I feel is as though this whole retirement of jersey thing may pose the same problem. There may be folks in the management that are against it and perhaps Holland and some others are for it. What I wonder is what the Illitch stance on it is. Guess we will find out sooner rather than later?

Richards was an awsome player. And I def think he will set it up well for us. But I can't help smile at this old epic play - Z vs Richards (first goal)

I'm not arguing that Babcock didn't want him. I'm just pointing out somethings you mentioned that was wrong - This was your other quote: "Reality is, sure Holland was VERY reluctant to trade that much for Feds, and when Babs gave his opinion, it cemented it." Babcock said no first and so did others, but Holland still tried pursuing because Holland can override their decisions. Columbus asked for prospect and Filpulla and Holland didnt want to do that. Columbus then decided they didn't want to give Sergei to a division rival. So tell me exactly how does Babcocks veto "cement" anything? So Fedorov wasn't playing 100% all the time? How is that Babcocks problem? I say blame Federov for not playing 100% and it was right for Babcock to speculate he wouldn't have played 100% if he came back in 09. Btw LW don't get me wrong. I love Feds. But I'm trying to weed out the facts that's all. To be honest if Fedorov or Ozzy's jersey (other thread) is retired, I would welcome it. It would increase the liklelyhood that my current fav players to have a chance of getting it retired (Pav and Z)

You're wrong mate. Proof and source - http://blog.mlive.com/snapshots/2008/03/blame_bebcock_for_nixing_fedor.html "On the eve of the "deadline" we had many conversations about Fedorov," Holland has stated. "I have collected 13 or 14 club officials--all our coaches, managers, and pro scouts. The emotions caused by possible return of Sergei, were [very] different. Yes, I have received Mike's opinion (Babcock--note, Igor Larin), but other positions were expressed. "We decided upon a certain offer, however Sergei eventually has been traded to "Washington " (the Capitol has given the young defender Teddy Ruth for the Russian veteran--note, Igor Larin). Such situation in general we arranged. They intended to receive a really good prospect player for Sergei, and we didn't want to give those up." Holland really tried to get Fedorov, despite of the veto of the coach. However "Columbus" has requested from "Detroit" young forward Valteri Filppula and a first-round draft pick. As a result after these negotiations, and from this perspective "Columbus" has refused, having decided to not strengthen a club of the [same] division and having given the Russian legionary to a team not only in another division, but also the other conference. There was apparently some sort of consensus in the room that several people had major concerns about bringing Fedorov back to Detroit, and in all likelihood, the concerns were related to both Fedorov's on-ice performance and the substantial off-ice distractions that Fedorov faced during his later years as a Wing. --------------------- So 14 opinions and a lot of them didn't want Fedorov. Holland ultimately decided no because he didn't want to give up prospects and Filpulla. Enough with trying to push the "Babcock is to blame" narrative. You're just wrong.

One of the videos was 2012 - well past their prime. Age 34 and 32. But you asked for last two seasons. So here: 2013- 2014 - Z no look pass to D for breakaway goal 2013 - 2014 - D destroys boston defense and feeds Z who scores an impossible angle shot 2014 - 2015 - Z off boards to D who backshands to Z for onetimer slapshot goal When you're making no look passes and know where your linemate will exactly be, even at this age, there's no arguing the strength of the chemistry. The org will benefit with them playing together and they've already stated it's their intention. Tatar and Nyquist need to get used to playing without D and Z and find their own offense (which I believe they somewhat have on occasion), D and Z won't be around for long. Remember that D and Z found their own offense after Hull left when they joined up with Holmstorm.

No. The "this team is not a contender" statement. -
The entire team failed to deliver in the playoffs. Except Mrazek

Jesus man, theres a fine line of realism and pessimism and you've entered the wrong side I'm afraid. -
What you talking about! Good point tho, I agree that playoff skill takes time.

When does this CBA exprire. I need to book a trip that year. The damn last lockout was so boring I was forced to watch basketball. Eek. -
There was really no reason for Pav to extend his contract on a declining franchise when the KHL could have payed him twice as much. He stayed due to loyalty and because he loves it here. I have faith that Nyquist WANTS to be here and will be a team player. I believe that most of us here agree on that. The arbitration itself is a supporting argument to this.
-
Nyquist update: Negotiations are underway on a shorter-term contract (2-3 years) with restricted free agent Gustav Nyquist. With two near-30 goal regular seasons to his credit, the 25-year-old forward will command in the $4-million range. Nyquist filed for arbitration, which runs July 20-Aug. 4. If it gets to that (unlikely), the club has the choice of electing a one- or two-year contract. Oh boy looks like Nyquist is commanding for 4 mill range. Puts the whole "upwards of 5 mill" and "he's worth 6 mill" theory in the garbage dont it. I agree. Not a top 10 play but his leadership is unquestionable. And he's a complete player thats actually good at being a complete player (lol). I've never hated the idea of throwing money at someone who brings your organization success. That's why I felt like the Fed deal in 90s was worth it as well.

While it was great that Ozzie came in clutch and saved the team from a declining Hasek, Zetterberg's 2008 performance in the playoffs was one of the best if not the best in every series of the playoffs of that decade. Most Conn Smythe winners excel at one part of the game (say offense) but Z was most memorable for literally dominating every single aspect. From forecheck, to backcheck, to body hits to playmaking to goal scoring to penalty killing and quarterbacking the powerplay. He was so damn good that I remember he humiliated Dallas's power play WHILE he was killing the penalty and got 2 damn short handed goals that series. I've yet to see a player replicate that amount of "completedness" in a playoff season. I've yet to see Bergeron pull it off or even Jonathan Toews himself. And as much as I love Pav, not even he was able to replicate that style in a playoff season. Hence why Z got it. Ozzie imo was up there in consideration for it and probably would have any other year.

Ya dont agree with him?
