Z has always been a better goal scorer when he played wing, specifically when playing with Datsyuk. With Richards in the mix and Z possibly being "retired" from being a center, this is quiet possible. Just my opinion tho. It all depends on how deep of a run they can make, if they can make it past round 2 for the remainder of his contract, I don't see why it's not possible.

signed Red Wings sign D Mike Green (3-years, $18-million)
kickazz replied to Dominator2005's topic in General
Check out greens interview on NHL.com - http://video.nhl.com/videocenter/console?id=831667&catid=-6 Looks like he will be focused on putting pucks in the net and creating offensive plays for the Red Wings. I'm almost certain this can be done with a Dekeyser pairing who can do more of the defensive duties while Green is free do the scoring stuff. Our PP is going to wreck. -
Signed Brendan Smith re-signed 2 yrs $2.75 mill AAV

Aye our best slapshots on PP come from Kronner or Z. Dekeyser shot is meh and Smith is average. I'll admit, I haven't really watched Green on the PP in Washington. Is his slapshot realgud? If Smith fails this season under Blash, I stick to my stance on him. Overrated and over hyped by the fans. But I truly hope he does well. -
This was sort of solved when he moved from Center to Wing. Long as he stays on Wing I think he well be less prone to injury.

Can't say that anymore with the 3on3 possbility

It seems like the hall of fame inductance has really boosted Feds case. I think this solidifies #13. Not so sure about #40 yet. I hope Z ends up breaking Yzerman's franchise record for playoff goals. He needs 15 more. That would be a huge accomplishment among other things he's got going.

Ah Holland trolls the entire media. Love it -
The powerplay will be much stronger. It was already 2nd best last season.

signed Red Wings sign D Mike Green (3-years, $18-million)

The Green + Dekeyser pairing will work great. A defensive defenseman and an offensive defensemen. Both VERY good at what they do as well. Second line D is going to be great. -
Thank god. He can play his damn original position now. Left Wing. Hope he goes back to some goal scoring, 25-30 goals from him in the season doesn't seem far fetched now. This will work great for his longevity and eventual conditioning in the playoffs.

They were probably were referring to the start of the season if Pav stays out. It's sad at the same time because Weiss is a great guy in general. Oh well, gluck to him. I don't think it works that way lol. Kenny made it blatantly clear he wanted Babs to stay at 4 mill. Babs and Kenny wouldn't be discussing contracts the night before and basically the day of Babs decision to go to Toronto. Not to mention both sides families wouldn't have been involved if it was a mutual agreement to leave from the get go. No reason to be all the dramatic with the wives and kids just to have said "oh yea get to the playoffs and book it in a few months"

If it's Anaheim. they'll keep their eyes on Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Nyquist and Tatar. Not richards. Similar situation.
-
Richards > Weiss > Cleary. That's all I'm going to say. This was a mild upgrade for our roster. Got rid of a useless center and hopefully gets rid of Cleary the locker room stud.
-
I'm glad only if this allows Z or D to hang up centering duties and allows them to play on same line. Doesn't matter who centers the Z - Pav - Abby line, they both play all over the ice front to back. They can alternate on faceoffs for all I care. Z goes on wild stretches where he's winning 60-70% of faceoffs while Pav is more consistent but goes thru some bad stretches himself. Pav and Z used to switch centering duties all the time between 2005 and 2009. Richards and Sheahan can switch 2nd/3rd line centering depending on whether Sheahan is ready to take on opposing team top forwards. I think he's getting there.
-
Z needs a winger than can create space for him or Z won't be making many plays. One Z and two small wingers on his side = rattled
-
Brad Richards = No more Cleary 1 year deal? Guy can put up a decent amount of points, has tons of experience. Our top 2 centers are old. One won't even be able to start the season. The other is injury prone and was significantly slow during the playoffs. What if Zetterberg goes down with an injury? No Pav and Z.. Rely on the kids? Okay but that would be a huge gamble because.. well theyre still developing. Richards can center a second line and Pav and Z can dominate the first line. When Pav and Z play together they don't need to exert as much effort. It will help in their longevity. Just my thoughts on this.

i bet he plays better than Weiss

Mike Richard's Contract Terminated (Not Bought Out)
kickazz replied to P. Marlowe's topic in General
Looks like he was arrested on border, going INTO Canada with oxycotin pills. He didnt have prescription for it so cud be charged with smuggling.Alleged -
Not during their entire tenure. And most of the reason for that is because we've havent had a legitamate center. Keeping them together gives our young centers (Sheahan) a chance to be top 2 center. Having Z center his own line not only has been a detriment to his overall play down the course of a season but it doesn't give one of the younger centers a chance to take top 2 role. The youngsters need to continue taking on bigger roles. Pav will most likely be gone in only a couple of years. We need to be ready for it.

I don't want him on our team. His name is Semin. Basically it's Semen.
-
If Franzen comes back perhaps Franzen - Sheahan - Tatar may be better suited with Goose on the third line.

Mike Richard's Contract Terminated (Not Bought Out)

Do we know if he's currently in the states -
I somewhat agree with this, but it still doesn't explain the plethora of games he was scratched.. lol.

I prefer Z and D to play the rest of their time together on a line. Sad to say but Z being a centerman seems like it's wearing him down. Babcock was always too quick to split them up imo. One or two games wouldn't go well and it was a split. Hopefully Blash is a lot more patient and only splits them when needed (kind of like when Babs did game 7 Anaheim 2013 round 1). The Z and D match ups work great against certain teams like LA or Boston. I do understand that with certain match ups, they are better off split and that should definitely be taken into consideration.. When Pav is back i'd like to see. Z - Pav - Abby Goose - Sheahan - Tatar Helm - Larkin - Jurco/Franzen Ferraro/Andy - Glenny - Miller The 4th line could easily be one of the better ones in the league. Sheahan would be great big body with two speedy wingers. Pav and Z can make plays with the back of their head while Abby gives them their best weapon:- SPACE. I admit, the Larkin line I'm not so sure on. But it could work.
