Yeah. I don’t disagree with you. I was just pointing out that he was similar last year at this point so don’t lose hope yet. But basically that this might be his norm and not necessarily a disappointment. Visually he definitely looks a little off, speed wise I’d say he’s about the same as the last two years. But again, somehow he’s still maintaining his production. It’s upto him to turn it up second half. Personally I just want the guy to hit 1000 points by end of next season and retire peacefully.

Should any of #91, #13, #40, #30 be retired? Poll/Discussion

I don't even think Datsyuk cares if it was retired to be honest. He's way more into his country, which is fine. I think the others might care more though. -
Most of the stats your mentioned except the faceoff were around that level midway thru last year too until he decided to step in to help the failing team. I doubt he cares as much this year. But if he does care I'm sure he'll start scoring again. 7 goals last year compared to the 6 this year. He had 28 points at the 41 game mark last year compared to the 29 this year. Actually had less shots last year through 41 games (90) compared to the 96 this year. Corsi was bad halfway through season last year too. I think exactly that much actually. But you did leave out the stats he has improved on. Takeaway rate is higher this year than ever in his career, shot block is highest this year than his career. Hits rate is about the same as last year. Not the player I would judge until the end of the season. He's historically known for s***ty starts and ends up proving most journalists etc wrong. I think the faceoff rule definitely has affected him. A lot of the league faceoff guys have dropped off this year. Getzlaf, Stamkos, Koivu. Surprisingly Crosby is doing really well and he's always sucked at them. I think defensively Zetterberg has declined. He missed a few assignments this first half of the season that were significant for sure. But it's expected. He's been playing above his level for too long now, at some point that 20 min per game has to go down and someone else needs to take the tougher match ups.

He should be getting more starts.

Old picture, taken a week before his death in 2015. RIP

Is that what they call being dead these days?
-
He's better than Toews and that's all the matters to be honest. Also Franzen is dead. I hope you've been over that.

Drop off in terms of what? Visuals? Probably.. he's one year older. But production wise he actually has more points this season through 41 games than he did last season. I said this in a thread months ago, Z is going to get slower and slower and slower. But he's the type of dude that will continue to find a way to control the ice and pace of the game on his stick and still produce, until he hits a brick wall which is probably in a year or so.

I agree. I like his "win" or go home attitude.

Beyond all this sarcasm and political prejudice you have a point. -

Lol why do you say that? They should play this video on the night the three of them get retired: -
Joke or serious? Because that would be great if so.
-
All the s*** talk aside sometimes I think he looks like a serial killer. He's just got this mischievous look on his face. Maybe it's the upward slanted eyebrows.
-
Detroit should to be in East for time zone reasons. Otherwise it's dumb.

I saw that and got pretty annoyed, then saw that Andersson was crying. Just burning passion and disappointment. At least a fan got a silver medal tho, it's not like he chucked it, basically tossed it to a dude in the crowd. Probably made his day lol. IIHF may not take too kindly to that though.

They replaced the goalie coach Jim Bedard with the GR guy and it didn’t really workout for Mrazek. Anyways if it makes anyone feel better, this was the best team in the league

#91 is clearly out of circulation thanks to Holland. Although that could change with a new GM. As far as #30 are we sure this is out of circulation? It just seems like a number most people aren’t interested in wearing aside from goalies. And we’ve really only had 2 goalies since Osgood retired. Mrazek is wearing Legace’s number and Howard had his number since before Osgood retired. -
I prefer arguing with amateurs. It's easier to win. Gotta pick your battles.
-
That's nitpicking. Even if he didn't start, he played over half of the minutes on thjose games except the one on 11/22. And he wasn't very good in the relief either which didn't help his case to win the starter job. Mrazek should be happy he's still employed to be honest... The way he's playing he might not have a job in the NHL come next year. As far as the bold, why are you shocked? He was getting starts but then Howard started playing lights out from October 22 until late November. They went with the hot hand...

You're backtracking and making excuses for Mrazek again. Both McElhinney and Mrazek are backups, but Mrazek has gotten more starts. That's plain and simple. If anything McElhinney should get more starts because he's actually a decent backup. Mrazek has been absolutely terrible this season and the fact that he's even getting any starts should be a surprise. Comparing McElhinney to Mrazek just hurts Mrazek's case more since he's doing worse between the two. You're also wrong about McElhinney's starts being spread out more. Mrazek. His games are actually spread out more than Mrazek's. In november McElhinney played on the 2nd, 11th, and 25th. Mrazek played on the 5th, 9th, 22nd, and 25th. Take a look yourself, Mrazek got more frequent starts and less time in between. In December McElhinney played on the 10th, 15th, 20th. Mrazek played 2nd, 9th, 19th. Mrazek is a little more spread but not nearly as bad as McElhinney had it in November.
-
Are you kidding me? Mrazek has played more games than Curtis McElhinney. And Mrazek has played more games than him since late November. At least McElhinney has decent stats. I suggest you pay attention before continuing to blindly sympathize for Mrazek lol.
-
They're holding on to him because that's what you do with backups. Generally each team has 2 goalies you know. He's clearly needed. Our starter got injured. What's the point of $4 million off the books right now? Not like we're a Stanley Cup team looking to get a $10 million dollar player at the trade deadline.
