They made it to the playoffs 5 out of the 7 seasons they were in the WHA and the two they didn't make, their records were close to .500 (in fact one year above .500 and a winning season). So, never a "losing phase" for the Oilers between the WHA and NHL as they made playoffs 18 out of the 20 seasons in their existence and won championships 5 times.
