So rather than assuming a 24 year old kid can turn it around (hardly older than Mantha), you want to rush another prospect to the NHL (who?), essentially making the same mistake that was made with Jurco. Am I seeing this right? -

Jurco has shown he can play well in this league before. Giving up on someone so young would not be a wise decision. -
They're chemistry was unreal. It's very unfortunate that Jurco took that cross check to the ribs that year, it really derailed him.

Vanek is a huge loss, Larkin not so much for me right now. I think Jurco will fill into his spot without noticeable difference. I'd almost say a mental break for Larkin could be a good thing. -
And to think we might lose him for nothing!

This team looks very bad without Vanek.

Whenever I watch other teams it seems like they never stop moving their feet. The Wings are constantly standing will, and when they do move it's a very telegraphed shift.

Definitely with you here. You can't ignore all the talk about his work ethic when he was scouted, not that I'm saying there ever actually was an issue, but to ignore it when developing a player would be fairly stupid. Adversity probably was good for him, I feel like we're seeing the benefits now. -

Funny enough they're talking about this on NHL network right now. Some analyst was talking about the stat comparison between Nielsen and Zetterberg, and then said this might be one of those situations where "Zetterberg gave the nudge to Ken Holland who gave the nudge to the league" or something like that. -

This is a good point. I do think he's deserving, but that may be too much too soon for what is essentially still a prospect by our organizations standards. I've been thinking this for a while. The current format is stupid on many levels. -

You're probably right and I agree. But of any I just thought he should've gotten the nod. Looking at Mantha's numbers, a case could've been made for him as well. Nielsen, while I like him, wasn't the one. -

Not Zetterberg? I was so sure it was going to be him. Quite a few Blackhawks are deserving I think, Toews just wasn't one of them. How he's there over Panarin is mind blowing to me. -
Taking into account that I think Lidstrom probably should've received more Norris trophies than he did, and his amazing longevity combined with consistency, and I'd say him. Obviously that's an awfully biased opinion, and I've never had the privilege of watching Orr play, just seen the highlights.

I've had the opposite. I really started enjoying watching the games and the young kids after I stopped stressing about the streak. Hockey is almost relaxing again. -
Not quite as epic as the TJ Oshie moment, but I'll take it.
