I would prefer: Z - Dats - Alfie Nyquist - Legwand - Franzen Tatar - Helm - Abby Sheahan - Weiss - Mantha Assuming everyone is healthy, which especially for Helm is not going to happen... Why those lines? Offense would be an absolute terror. If i recall correctly, Pavs had 48 points in 45 games last season DESPITE his wingers being (offensive) scrubs like Cleary and Abby. He could set them up for empty netters 4-5 times a game and they still would blow every chance. Now pair him with Z and Alfie..oh boy. 2nd line already showed us what it possibly can produce, and improved chemistry won't worsen that.. 3rd line has the potential to completely frustrate opposition everywhere on the ice from a defensive standpoint AND would be dangerous, too. 4th line, get Mantha playing time in the NHL. In that setup we could easily afford some mistakes in the learning process but profit long-term because of the experience he gains.

RS end 14/03/15..depends on the layoff in between RS/POs and the success of his team..officially there is nothing set right now, the website says "playoffs: TBD".

This. What Holland did is like standing at a fork, deciding which road to follow...and then he continues his journey, only to stop after a mile or two at the next gas station to get some donuts..

Overpaid, yes. For one simple reason: being injured a full season before the signing. If this was European soccer, where a team like Manchester City last season (or still, dunno) had 10-12 wingers on the roster for just 2 LW/RW midfielder spots, because there is no salary cap and their billionaire owner doesn't give a f*** about paying 40M for 10-12 guys with 2 on the field, 2 on the bench and the rest scratched....yeah, then you could hand out that contract. In US salary cap systems, mangement should never ever hand out a contract like that to a player who missed the full season before. Never. Sure you can offer him 6M/2years - if he takes it, fine, if not, you look for someone else (or better just re-sign Filppula). The risk of blocking a large chunk of your cap for many years is just to high.

You know what...when season started, he looked as lazy as all those seasons before. Then he was injured, with the Wings never really saying what it was, just "undisclosed illness" or something...and then he came back and played the hell out of him. Very energetic, focused, even defending. Then he got concussed, and when he came back he again looked that sharp... ...and when he was out with that "undisclosed illness", I read somewhere that rumour was that he suffers/suffered from depression. At that point, I thought "ok, just BS"...but giving it a second thought...he really shows signs of what are typical symptoms of this. Maybe they just finally found the right theraphy and he starts getting over it?
