From a European point of view...North Americans grading beer, or beer prices?? LMAO. ....... Shootout victory for us after a 3-3 tie! -

They never were. They always sided with the money. -
Windsor Man Faces Lifetime LCA Ban For Octopus Throw

From WIIM: " UPDATE (10/11/17 5:25pm ET): We’ve learned that the report of a life-ban for this man are false. He was arrested by Detroit Police, ticketed, and released. " -
10/10 GDT - Red Wings @ Stars - 8:30 PM EST

A lot of mistakes.. - stupid goalie change...let's look at other teams, does anyone change the goaltender when the starter opens the season with a SV% of 0.961? Uhm, no. It's just us. - that top line makes no sense..change mantha and tatar, both nyquist and tatar with Z lacks too much size plus they are too similar. - wtfkowski...did i realize he played? oh, yes, once...when he went to the box... - the neverending Errorson, it's unbelieavable..if i would get a dollar for every time that guy doesnt hit the puck, just air, when trying to pass it, i could easily outweigh all of that retirement-fund-pretending recently discussed on this board.. -
10/7 GDT: Red Wings 2, Ottawa Senators 1 (SO)

Yup. Abby is overpaid, because he should be on the 3rd/4th line in a checking role, plus PK & PP (net front) - but E should not be in the NHL at all.. -

Whatever it takes...but having a) a great talent in AA walk AND b) not give playing time to one of our young D, just for Holland to not admit how bad that contract is, is just insane. I don't get ownership on that whole thing...i just don't... -

Hmm, i just used CapFriendly on that one and they measure the CapHit of Ericsson after the buyout with 1,638,889 this year and $1,388,889 the following 5 years. Do I know for a fact if that is correct? Of course not. What I know is, I would rather take the 6 year cap hit than 3 more years of watching this idiot...I have no idea how that contract could happen... -

Could all be so easy...wave Ericsson, sign AA for two years at 2.2mil, call up one of Cholowski/Renouf/Sproul and we're good to go. Oh, we would be, if we hadn't signed mediocre nonsense like Booth and Whathekowski, eating another 1.5Mil. As if we hadn't wasted too much cap before... Unbelievable. A guy with real talent and upside might end up in the Swiss League because our GM is as dumb as it gets... -

Apparently stuck with NBC Feed only on NHL.TV...*puke* The opening of a new arena, and they put that on national, which 90% of all fans hate. Nice job, NHL... ..... 4-2 Wings. Let's go! -
Athanasiou Signed 1 year $1.4 mil
The Datsyukian Deke replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
I would rather have a pick than a player, because we already don't have enough room for all youngsters we should better be playing.. -
Red Wings sign D Trevor Daley to 3 year, 3.166m/yr contract, includes NTC/Modified NTC.

I agree with the scratches. Sitting AA for "educational reasons" might've been Blashs best idea of the whole season. Because he got the result he wanted, AA learned his lesson. -
Love it. Like him the most of our young D-Men.

Tatar, Athanasiou, and XO's new deals
The Datsyukian Deke replied to PavelValerievichDatsyuk's topic in General
Sure, just wanted to mention, deals like this happen. And yes, a small winger like Nyquist is nothing anybody is searching for (unless it's a Gaudreau-like skill level, ofc), but still you rather take him and a pick (or a couple picks) than not getting anything. -

Guess I was looking at too many rosters at the same time. I would rather give up picks than AA, I think the guy really could become something. -
Tatar, Athanasiou, and XO's new deals
The Datsyukian Deke replied to PavelValerievichDatsyuk's topic in General
The main problem is the general lack of quality defensemen in this league. If you look through the rosters, 90% have nothing to trade for a wing in return.. I would even make it a 1st round pick if necessary, but who could we get? I would try Buffalo with Trouba (mainly because of the drama they already had at the beginning of last season, might've lowered the price) and one of Spurgeon/Brodin/Dumba because the Wild have 3 players in that range. -
Tatar, Athanasiou, and XO's new deals
The Datsyukian Deke replied to PavelValerievichDatsyuk's topic in General
Depends on the picks. In our situation right now, it doesn't even make sense because we have Kronwall/E blocking roster spots. -
Tatar, Athanasiou, and XO's new deals
The Datsyukian Deke replied to PavelValerievichDatsyuk's topic in General
We need talent, so we shouldnt trade it out...trading AA would be insane. Trade Nyquist or Tatar + future pick(s) for a defensive upgrade. That's about all we can do, plus sit out the remaining cap hit of Kronner, E and Weiss. And just hope that Holland doesnt waste other cap with similar deals. And 5 or more for Tatar? No, thanks. I like the guy, but we need to spend cap on players that get us back into contending. -
Really? Points Per Game 1. Leon Draisaitl • EDM 1.23 2. Sidney Crosby • PIT 1.12 3. Evgeni Malkin • PIT 1.12 4. Ryan Getzlaf • ANA 1.12 5. Nicklas Backstrom • WSH 1.00 6. Erik Karlsson • OTT 0.95 7. Ryan Johansen • NSH 0.93 8. T.J. Oshie • WSH 0.92 9. Phil Kessel • PIT 0.92 10. Rickard Rakell • ANA 0.87 Oh, no McDavid. Had 9 points in 13 games compared to Leons 16 points. And no, I'm not saying Leon is the better player or the bigger talent, that's clearly McDavid. But after this years playoffs, the first for both, it looks like Draisaitl delivered more when it mattered most. I'm not saying McDavid won't improve his performance or Draisaitl will keep that level of production, because as you can see, it's a level where you only see future Hall of Famers... But right now, you shouldn't make the gap between these guys bigger than it actually is.
-
At least 10 I guess. After this playoffs, with that PPG...there'll be huge offer sheets. If not, every GM with enough cap space should just be fired..
-
It's 3 x 3 according to Malik.
-
I've been thinking about this - they might have a great home record for that reason, too. I'm looking forward for the first story about someone found on the strip, completely broken down, the night prior to a game.
-
If only we had cap to throw an offer sheet at someone really good...Draisaitl for example..
-
@kliq: You're right about the early success he had, I just wasn't a fan at that time. Started watching hockey at the beginning of the 2010 season and didn't take long to make the Wings "my" team. And since then, it's most of all like nobody stops the bleeding and rebuilds the team in a proper way. And yes, overpaying people like E is one of the worst parts about it.
-
Ah, I love this about the internet. Other people telling me what my general thinking is. Of course he needs to get credit for the positives! Picking AA, for example. Picked at #110, other teams for sure want to change their picks before him in retrospect, no doubt. Holland deserves the credit, even if other people made that choice, because he leads and picks those people. So much for "is this real life?" - ofc it is. If you are a companys CEO, you get the credit for success and the blame for failure, no matter where in your organisation it was actually created. So for Holland - what was the state of this franchise when he took over, what is it now? Did roster quality stay the same, improve or decrease during his tenure? Did we have rosters who were good enough to win, and how many titles did we actually win?. It's just like making a "pro" and a "con" list on a sheet of paper and checking which one is longer. And for Holland, it's "con". That's all I'm saying. I'm not following any agenda, looking in a different direction when he does something good (for example, I credited him for the Smith trade, just because he won it) or hoping for his failure - as long, as he is in charge, I want him to succeed because I want this team to succeed!! That said, because I want this team to succeed I would prefer a change at GM, because he is simply not good enough.
