I never liked Dubinsky, he was a ghost in the playoffs last year and like you said he's gritty, we really dont need a gritty forward.

Holland says those dreaded words, "Our Deadline Addition"
HIFI_canadian replied to Jedi's topic in General
Basically what he said is that WE HAVE NOTHING VALUABLE TO TRADE TO ACQUIRE ANYONE. Who in their right mind would trade for a player who has been a healthy scratch a few times this season? No one is riding the Ian White train, not even babs. They have NO one in the farm system who is ready to make immediate impact. Why? cause they have been trading their first rounders like wasted tissues. Ken Holland has not drafted a first rounder who made some sort of impact since Jiri Fischer. I'm tired of the excuses, I want to see him and his "excellent" scouting staff draft a player who is 2-3 years away from making an immediate impact. -
I never said Ericsson belongs on the team, I'm seeing minor improvement but he is still not worth the money we are giving him, let alone a roster spot. Kronwall is not #1 defenseman, he cannot lead and again proved my point last night against the CBJs. I enjoy Kronwall on the PP but I certainly don't like him paired with Ericsson. Quincey makes nearly 4 million a season and plays like he is trying to crack the lineup. Probably the worse trade deadline move since acquiring Lang a while back. The team needs a shut-down defenseman who plays a two-way style. Kronwall only has one style (offense), Ericsson has one style (offense), Kindl has one style (offense by pinching every time hes on the ice), Quincey has one style (offense), Smith has one style (offense) and yet the last guy who is probably the only one emerging out of all of them is Brian Lashoff who plays a two-way style defense.

Why in the world would the Ducks trade Perry when the team is 17-3-3 in the West? Yes, rumors has it that it would be hard for the ducks to re-sign Perry this summer however if anyone knows how Bob Murray does trades. They would know how incredibly unrealistic his trade offers are. He is going to ask for bunch of draft picks and potentially Tatar, Andersson,Sheahan, Athanasiou or Frk. Sorry, I'm not interested especially with a player who is ready to test the market this summer.

Have you seen any of the games this season? The guy has no defense in front of him and is facing 30+ shots per night WITHOUT Nicklas Lidstrom. He's playing 10x better this season then he did WITH Nicklas Lidstrom.

I completely agree. I don't understand why Tatar is not on this line or at least Andersson. I never liked Abdelkader and I still dont understand why we signed him for 4 years at 1.5 million a piece. I can't wait to see Helm back in the lineup, as much as I get on him for not shooting the puck the guy creates a spark on the line. I just hope Abdelkader or Emmerton gets sent down.

5 Year, $28 Million Dollar contract. He's better then Marc-Andre Fleury and close to Henrik Lundqvist elite. Lets face it, Jimmy Howard is becoming the face of the franchise by his growth he has quickly established over the years and is capable of playing elite without Nick Lidstrom. He is the reason why we are still a potential playoff team. Pay the man.

Here I am at the Avs game on tuesday watching our beloved defense almost giving up a tying goal with seconds remaining in the game. All of a sudden, Jimmy Howard reaches his blocker out to make the game ending save. Not to mention facing 39 SHOTS! He is the reason why we are still alive for a playoff berth.

Apparently he thinks Howard should be scoring goals now.

I am not saying to "tank". I said if we had a choice I would choose to sell and that doesn't mean firesale but sell your depth players like Quincey, Kindl, Flipp, Frans (doubtful)..etc. Allow the youngsters like Tatar and Andersson to get more ice time. Lets be honest, we have a 48 game schedule. I would rather focus on the offseason now then do it in a full 82 game season. Btw, Kronwall finally emeraging as a "#1"? You're kidding right? probably the worse quarterback Defenseman in the league, he has proven that he does not belong as a #1 Defenseman. Coughs up the puck, cannot spread the puck out when leaving the defense zone and most importantly gets beat out 1 on 1. Quincey has not gotten better, wouldnt be surprised you see him on Waivers when Colo comes back. Ericsson has actually gotten better, I cant believe how well he is passing the puck but again still has some major flaws. You need a #1 Defenseman, simple.

This is a joke. Jimmy Howard is the reason why we are still "alive" for a playoff berth. How about having a better defensive core instead of a bunch of flops choking up the puck? or maybe someone who can Quarterback a line (like Lidstrom) instead of looking lost on the ice when regrouping the line. I can't believe how insane this town is about goaltending. They can never appreciate a goaltender who faces 35+ shots a game yet we praise Domink Hasek who only faced an average of 19.5 shots per game and allows about 2-3 goals a game. Put Jimmy Howard in net from 96-2003 and get back to me. You want to talk about average goaltender? Chris Osgood was an average goaltender. The only goaltender I know that had many Hot and Cold seasons. Very loose when securing the puck. Yet, the same guy who people talk about saying he should be in the Hall of Fame because of his 3 Stanley Cup rings. Pathetic.

Bouwmeester? No way. If Holland is looking for a "Shut-down" defenseman then Jay Bouwmeester is no where close to being that. He's an offensive defenseman and in my opinion an overrated defenseman. We don't need another offensive defenseman, you need a defensive one who stays at home and they are pretty hard to find on the market. I don't see us getting a top line defenseman at the deadline, honestly I wouldn't want to give up another first round pick. As hard as it may sounds, I would rather be a seller then a buyer if we had a choice at the deadline. Pack it in, ride it out and hope for the best because we haven't had a good draft since the Jimmy D/Bowman days and quite honestly this is the time to show how great Ken Holland is in the draft. No more excuses cause we don't have the first two picks or where our position is in the draft. It's finally catching up to us that the only way to succeed in this league is to draft. We cannot depend on Free agency and trade deadline moves because Detroit is no longer a place where Future Hall of famers want to come. No one is going to want Franzen's outrageous contract, I would suggest using the amnesty clause this summer on Franzen. The guy doesn't deserve the contract and is not a top 2 line forward in my opinion. Flippula is back at his old ways, he is not shooting the puck and his confidence level is not up there. He had a good run last season but I cannot imagine what he would be asking in the offseason. I suggest we let him walk and let some team like Columbus over-sign him (referring to the counter-trade offer for Nash last year). We might be able to get Stephen Weiss from Florida, he's been playing awful and his trade value might be reasonable for us.
