The penalty shot doesn't automatically = goal. The running of the skate into the goalie's skate- in his crease- directly led to a goal. It doesn't need to be a kicking motion to be goaltender interference? Where'd you learn that interpretation of the rule?

^ IMO. Goal should have been reviewed and disallowed. The goalie would have easily been back in position if he didn't have his left skate kicked back towards the net by Nyquist- halfway into the crease.

You answered my question, almost directly, but I'm going to pose it anyway: How is UFA calculated? By MLB, it's service time (seasons accrued). By NFL, it's the end of a contract with at least two years of service time. Is the NHL straight 27-years-old when the contract expires?

Well that's a shame. Nah, teams were given 2 compliance buyouts that wouldn't carry a cap hit, but you can buyout any player at any time with a cap hit. This. Regular/ordinary, same thing.

Here's a novel thought: Why not buyout both? An ordinary buyout of Tootoo costs the team $1.9M, but spread over two seasons I believe, and it carries a cap hit of just $600K for this upcoming season.

Actually, that's quite simple- it does make a sound. If you put a deaf person on the freeway and have a semi honk for the last 500 yards before running him over, do you think anyone would dare claim the trucker didn't honk - on the basis that the deaf person didn't hear it? Legwand had less than 1.5minutes/game of ice time than Franzen. And almost 4mins/game less in the playoffs. And Franzen got a whopping ONE more playoff point that Legwand in 20+minutes of hockey (almost a whole additional period)... while playing the scoring role. Where's the Price Is Right buzzer right now? Hmm. And it wasn't that he couldn't... it's that Babcock didn't let him. He seemed to help carry the team just fine as the 2nd line center down the stretch, no?

Right. And Tavares explains his 4 goals and 5 assists in 13 games w/ Buffalo this season, or 41 points in 38 games last year with them, or his six goals and nine assists in 18 games with Montreal?

LOL Franzen streaks and puts up 40 points total. Vanek "streaks" and puts up 65 this year, between three different teams (different systems/teammates) AND no Datsyuk. How does that compare to Franzen? Is it the 11 points over his last 31 playoff games?

IDK that he'd be ready for top-line play though). Absolutely it made sense! For the business side. Keeping the streak alive is a HUGE marketing opportunity. For the team? No way. Seeing how we brought up Sheahan, we could have brought up Jarnkrok next season and I HIGHLY doubt he was leaving the AHL/States.

You can't compliance-buyout Weiss; he was signed AFTER the new CBA. If you're not going to use Tootoo, cut him; it'll cost $600K for one year, that's it. Franzen better be bought out or I will lose all confidence in the FO. That's a move that MUST be made.

I have gone through about forty pages worth of threads trying to find a YouTube video one of you all posted recently. It was an older television show about what guys do at the office. The guy A was playing a gambling game where the other guy B had to answer every question with the word "pencil" or guy B would lose a dollar. At the end, guy A asks guy B, "What do you want, the money or the pencil?" and guy B responds, "The pencil!!".... so the guy A takes all the money. HELP, FRIENDS!

Are you kidding? You should invest in a DVR if you're going to start criticizing players about penalties and whatnot. ABSOLUTELY. And that's why Bertuzzi was LIVID. Chara skated backwards into him and their elbows connected SLIGHTLY- I don't even know if it was Bert's elbow or just his sleeve, it looked PATHETIC. The NHL is going to have to do something much like the NBA, fine-fine-fine-suspension. Until that happens, captain embellishment is going to continue to directly affect games in a way that lacks integrity and displays unsportsmanlike conduct.

So Franzen plays half-arsed out there, loses the puck in his own end between three other Red Wings and gives up an open shot in the slot by Ovechkin-ing his way from the Bruins blue line into his own, and Babcock would rather take out the kid that plays defense? Good lord.

Franzen nearly pulled an ovexhkin when he glided from their blue line and their player ended up in front of him in the slot and took a shot If that woulda gone in I would have rioted

Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Abdelkader Nyquist-Helm-Franzen Jurco-Sheahan-Tatar Miller-Legwand-Bertuzzi Does anyone have a major problem with this lineup? I would rather Franzen sit, but it won't happen... at least he's on a line he semi-competed well with this year. The kid line carried us into the playoffs... and it was with Nyquist on a different line. Of course, playing Jurco on a separate line with people he hasn't played with much (remember, he spent a lot of time in GR with those two), he's going to look different or hesitant. You've got to be able to read your teammates minds when on the ice... so put the guys together that have played together!

And Franzen will continue to give minimal effort. Awesome. If they would have kept Jurco w/ Tatar and Sheahan, this wouldn't have been a problem.
