Crosby cries worse than my 5 year old when he skins his knee.
-
Unless you heard the conversations you can't speak to the whine or lack thereof.
-
I've heard it before from other former officials. You don't need to be obvious to whine a lot, but a lot of top players complain a lot. It's not like Yzerman was the only one. Remember Lemieux's I'm taking my stick and going home complaints about the trap and hooks and hold?

I'd much rather see Marchenko or Ouellet than a free agent that's still out there

Is that Kris Draper's cousin?

Rule Changes in the AHL (what the NHL has considered)

Too many teams play for the extra point, especially towards the end of the season. Ties won't fix that. -
Wings don't need a 3rd pair guy

Let me know when they win a Cup as a GM

Rule Changes in the AHL (what the NHL has considered)

With the litigious society we live in coupled with the NFL lawsuit and the BS ones fringe ex-players are tossing at the NHL, the league has to be seen taking steps to cut down on head injuries. Discouraging fighting and making sure people have helmets on are steps towards that. If you want to blame someone, blame the lawyers and over-reacting hockey moms who go berserk over every bump and bruise. The league won't be going away from the current standings point system anytime soon, but I'd rather see it be a win or nothing than the extra point for OT. Failing that, 3 for a regulation win, 2 for OT win, 1 for OT loss, nothing for regulation loss. The current format keeps teams bunched up more though, meaning it looks more exciting. -
Confused on the direction of this team going forward

Hossa was offered a contract, he didn't sign it. Franzen was negotiating at the same time and he accepted first. He'd just come off a huge playoff and big season, and was looking like a 30 goal a year guy. Had Holland not signed him, and he left and Hossa still left for Chicago because he was chasing a Cup, the Wings would have been screwed. Remember, Hossa did pretty much the same thing to the Pens the summer before. Filppula wanted out, and after the season he had he shouldn't have been signed to that contract. If he has another big year in 14-15 it will be the first time in his career he was healthy and productive back to back seasons. Tootoo was bought out because nobody else was getting bought out, and it saved $975k in cap space and about $650k in real money. It was use it then or lose it, the compliance buyouts aren't valid after this summer. Holland offered contracts to every decent player out there. They went to other teams for various reasons. Legwand would have been the 3rd center, assuming Weiss is healthy. They don't need him for that role with Helm and Sheahan on the roster. Tatar for Green is media and fan speculation, not something Holland has said. -
A top 4 D isn't peanuts. Fans have a highly inflated value of the Wings' prospects and young players. Tatar is a good young scoring winger, more like Kozlov than Datsyuk. Mantha hasn't played a game of pro hockey but people are acting like he's Brendan Shanahan part 2.
-
I think you're overestimating how good Tatar is going to be by a long way. He's more of a 60 point winger than a cornerstone of a franchise. Jurco Nyquist and Mantha all have the potential to be much better.
-
That would be a huge overpayment
-
I can't see the Caps wanting a D in return. Capgeek has 8 D on their roster, plus any prospects who might be ready. Andersson, a second tier prospect, and a mid pick could do it. I don't think Green is worth much more than that.
-
I'm going to be pissed if they trade Jurco to get him. Of the top young forwards Tatar is the most expendable, but unless something else comes back with Green I don't want any of them traded. Washington won't want Kindl with the number of d they have, but Andersson and a pick plus a mid level prospect would be OK.
-
Ott is washed up. No thanks. Jurco needs to be on the opening night roster.
-
Tatar is an undersized winger who is still below average defensively and projects as a second line wing. Detroit has Jurco Nyquist and Mantha in the NHL or coming soon. Tatar is expendable
-
More points does not mean better. Datsyuk was quite a bit ahead of him in other areas.
-
A kid will come in when someone gets hurt. They won't have the rookies rotating through as the 7.
-
They were pretty excited about both Zetterberg and Datsyuk. Zetterberg was the only non NHL player on Sweden's Olympic team.
-
He is locked up long term. Also based on what I've read he isn't being actively shopped but he is available.
-
If they hadn't signed KFQ I'd be more interested. He's a reclamation project at this point.
-
It's St. Lame, so take it with a grain of salt or three, but... Myers is Buffalo’s top defenseman and the asking price is going to start with one of Gustav Nyquist, Tomas Tatar or Tomas Jurco. Buffalo might well ask for Anthony Mantha, but the Wings aren’t relinquishing him. One player alone wouldn’t do it, though — there would likely be a high draft pick involved, too, maybe even a second player, someone in his mid-20s. http://www.freep.com/article/20140706/SPORTS05/307060063/tyler-myers-sabres-detroit-red-wings Given his contract and his dropoff in pay since he signed that contract, despite St. Lame's statements that he's a franchise player, that's a lot to give up for a guy who might not get much better than he is now. Of course, Pronger was traded early on because the Whalers didn't think he was developing quick enough and look what happened there. I think I'd be ok with Tatar, Pulk, and a second. Not much more. Of the top 4 young wingers Detroit has, Mantha and Jurco bring size that they lack otherwise, and I think Nyquist is the better player compared to Tatar. Pulk might end up being a 20-25 goal guy, but there's no guarantee there.

Was it from this year? It looks like Turgeon, would he be there with his kid?
-
He fell off under Tortorella, never got going under Vigneault, and then continued to flop for Trotz. He'd be worth a flier on a one or two year low cap hit contract, but at this point he's a reclamation project. he certainly has the skill to be a 2nd pairing guy, but he needs to get better in his own end and figure out how to fix whatever caused his offensive numbers to fall off.
