Yup. He'd be a good guy for GR, bad guy for Detroit.

Signed Detroit re-signs Gustavsson 1 yr $1.85 mill
DickieDunn replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Mrazek needs to play. If Howard is healthy, he's playing 60 games or so, leaving less than 25 for the backup. It's not very often that a kid with waiver exemptions is brought in to backup an established starter. It also gives them a 3rd goalie that they can trust to com in and play if there is a long term injury. Would you really like to see a tandem of Mrazek and McCollum for a month if Howard goes down with a serious injury? This way Mrazek can come up and split time with a guy who has shown he can be at least adequate in Gustavsson. -
Buying him out saves about a mil on the cap.

Where does it say they're being given a spot? Nowhere. Mantha says his goal is the NHL immediately, "oooh such confidence.". Nosek says something about the NHL immediately, "he's being handed a spot wtf stoopid Holland.". Even Brunner wasn't just given the spot, he played well enough in the brief camp to earn it. It seems like you're complaining before there's anything to complain about.

Shawn Thornton will not be returning to the Bruins
DickieDunn replied to SteelTownWingsFan's topic in General
Nosek is signed for the future. Think of him as a draft pick they just signed. The rest of your post is nonsense. Thornton isn't what the team needs but Holland is stupid for not having any interest in him even though nothing about Thornton or that type of player has been mentioned at all by the team. -

He can't play hockey, Babcock wouldn't use him. -
He'd be in the press box within a month.

Avalanche are taking Ryan O'Reilly to club-selected arbitration
DickieDunn replied to frankgrimes's topic in General
Do you mean 6.5 mil or 6 years 5 mil or 5 years 6 mil? 6, 5 is a bit confusing. -

He's not worth close to $7 mil. Maybe in a couple years, but not now. -
Signed Wings sign Tomas Nosek to 2 year entry level deal
DickieDunn replied to Dabura's topic in General
Didn't his agent say he was looking for $50 mil over 7 years? Unless he was just saying that to get off the Island, there's no way he'd drop his demands from that to a 3 year deal. -
Defensemen who are worse in their own end than most forwards are a liability unless they're putting up 80+ points. Green is horrible unless you're going to play him limited even strength minutes and use him as a PP specialist. I'd rather use Sproul for that, at least he has upside.

I'd rather win with nobody from Michigan on the team than lose with a half dozen local boys. This isn't juniors or college. -

Hope he's better than the other undrafted Euro players. We don't need another Leino all hyped up by fans. -
The only thing you do when you sign a player to an offer sheet is do the other team's negotiating for them unless you make the world's worst offer. There's a good reason nobody makes them often and only one hasn't been matched.

Who's better than Kronwall?
-
People get way too caught up on these guys. Fedorille Brunnerstromov is just another guy who has torn up Europe and has a lot to learn about what it takes to be more than a role player in the NHL.
-
Vanek was such a threat he was demoted to the 4th line and the Habs won't even try to re-sign him.
-
Mantha was not a top 3 pick. There were and are questions about him. It is far more likely that he puts up Franzen type numbers that 100 point seasons.

My point is, prospects don't always hit their ceilings. Most of the time they become very good players who aren't quite as good as people thought that they might be. Sometimes they don't come close, and once in awhile they become as good as advertised. Look at the 99 draft, as an example. Every one of the top 10 picks were highly rated players. 3 of them are currently in the NHL. 4 of them played in over 650 NHL games. If you can get a good young player for a prospect, unless it's a a guy you know FOR SURE is going to be a high end player, a guy like Crosby, Ovechkin, Toews, etc., you make the deal every time. It'd be like someone handing you a briefcase, telling you that it has an amount between $50 and $5000. It probably has at least $4000, but he's not sure and it's not guaranteed. You can have the case, or he'll hand you $4500 cash. What are you going to take?

Dan Boyle's rights traded to the Islanders…..
DickieDunn replied to wings4thecup06's topic in General
Kronwall has never been the shut down guy. That was Stuart's job, now it's Ericsson's. Smith puts up decent numbers for his role and who he's on the ice with. -
Cameron Maybin was the most exciting position player the Tigers had in years. Ericsson was going to be the Swedish Pronger. Brunnstrum and Leino were supposed to be better than most of the forwards the Wings had.
-
Why would you not ****** up a 24 year old big power forward who can play center and wing coming off a 34 goal 79 point season and his 26 year old big physical shot blocking defenseman brother? BTW, s n a t c h is blocked.

Dan Boyle's rights traded to the Islanders…..
DickieDunn replied to wings4thecup06's topic in General
Kronwall is balanced, but leans more towards being an offensive guy over defense. Smith is mostly offense. Kindl is supposed to be a puck mover. Ericsson, Dekeyser, Lashoff are defensive d-men. -
So if the Stars called and said the Benn brothers demanded a trade and they want to come to Detroit, and the price was Mantha, Smith, Sproul, Pulkinen and a first, you'd say no?
