Holland is in a tough situation. If he gets the OK form upstairs to sell off, he's going to piss off a big chunk of the fan base and he's probably not going to get much for the guy's he'd be trading. With all the injuries, they're in a tough spot unless Datsuik is going to come back soon, so not making a trade will compromise their chances of making the playoffs. At the same time, trading assets for a guy who might not be here next year just to make the playoffs is counterproductive to the stated plan of using the draft to rebuild on the fly, and adding a rental doesn't guarantee anything. It doesn't matter what he does unless he can get in on Kesler or another good player who isn't a rental, it's not going to be a great option.

Oh, well as long as you FEEL that he needs surgery, by all means they should schedule it ASAP. Babcock has been sitting Cleary every game for quite awhile now. Once he runs out of other bodies that might change out of necessity. Samuelsson is "hurt" again so that's not an option.

I also don't know what's wrong with Datsyuk's knee, and unless you're on the Wings' medical staff or know someone who is, I doubt you do either, so know the hell knows if it's an injury that needs surgery. I think that if they call up Jarnkrok and/or make a move to bring in someone, they'll be able to hold onto the playoff spot, which I think is the mandate from ownership. Hell, even shifting Mule over to center could be enough if Datyuk is going to be back in a few games.
