Alex galchenyuk - should we make a move ?
DickieDunn replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
Ideally they'd have the cap space to do AA for Glachenyuk straight up, or with some minor other pieces involved. As of now Montreal would have to be willing to take a bad contract or Holland would have to include Nyquist. I don't see either happening. -
Because things that work in the AHL don't always work in the NHL, and he isn't smart enough to adjust.

They want D. Even if they drop the pick out of their demands, I doubt that will change.

Dennis Cholowski signs 3 year entry level contract

if he can do both, great. The priority should be learning to play on both ends though. We don't need another Sproul/Almquist type -

I'd rather have him finish 20th in points and learn how to be a high end defender -
When he was in GR he got drunk at a bar downtown, was asked to leave, and got belligerent when the bouncer wouldn't let him back in to grab his jacket. When the cops showed up, he told them :you no arrest me, I Hudler, I hockey player." A deputy that works security during their training camp every year ended up having to come down to ID him since his ID was in the bar and they couldn't find his coat right away. -source: my brother worked at Kent County jail at the time

there's a difference between a shot in game conditions and one where you can tee it up like the ASG. I doubt Chara actually uncorks 104 MPH slappers during a game. Frk does have a good shot, but like I've said before, he's going to have to prove he can do enough other stuff. So far he has, but the league is going to start noticing him and work on shutting him down soon enough. So the question is, can he adjust? PS: I've heard that his shot is so lethal some people are calling his stick an assault stick and want it banned

he sees grinders who got paid and thinks a guy who can actually score goals should get a decent deal too. Regardless of whether they were UFA or not, if LFG gets $1.8 mil a year, Helm $3.85 and Abdelkader over $4 mil, AA and his agent probably have a legit reason to want $2.5. I also think that his agent gave him bad advice, and playing in Europe shouldn't have been just a bluff. If he wasn't prepared to go, he should have signed the crap one year offer and then gone to arbitration next summer. It could also be because of Blashill, but the results are the same. Either be prepared to go to Europe or bite the bullet.

Things I would like to see by the start of the 2018/19 season....

I'd be happy for Holland and Blashill gone, let the rest work itself out from there -
at least not publicly. I'd imagine he told Holland privately he wanted out.

Ball Park or Bar S hot dog?

10/05 GDT | at Red Wings 4, Minnesota Wild 2 (1st Game @ LCA)
DickieDunn replied to NerveDamage's topic in General
they're all 3rd line caliber players. I was at work and my wife f-ed up the DVR so it didn't record the game. How'd Frk look? -
I thinmk the way that he was used destroyed his confidence. But we'll never know for sure
-
they probably want the flexibility to send him down immediately if AA signs a deal instead of waiting 24 hours for him to clear.
-
Depends. If AA is asking for $2.5 mil he should get it. If he's asing for $3 mil, it's too much and Holland needs to hold his ground
-
And yet nothing is changing
-
Almost like thinking Abdelkader was going to be a 20 goal 40 point player for 7 more years

Average NHL forward is 6'1" 202 lbs. So he's close to average. Still not big. How many players get waived twice and have played 2 NHL games by his age and make it? Is it out of the question? Not really, but pretty damn unlikely. And if you're listening to coachspeak and think that means something, you haven't been paying attention to pro sports and what coaches say. If someone asks a question about a player, coach rarely trashes said player.
-
No, it's not. Maybe for a guy like McDavid, for a rank and file player, especially one just starting out, it's a lot of money. It's comparable to you thinking you're worth $50k a year and your boss only wanting to pay you $38k. 24% less.
-
Where did you see him listed that big, most places I've seen have him 6' 200 lbs or smaller. That's not all that big. And I haven't seen much of a physical game from him. Maybe compared to Pulk, or against smaller AHL players. He's been waived twice, he's not a good skater, not good defensively, and has one weapon, which can be neutralized easily by bigger, faster, smart NHL players. 20 or 30 years ago when it was possible for a guy to go down the wing and blast a slapper past the goalie, sure, he might be a decent NHL player, but those days are gone.

Kahn is a mouthpiece for Kenny to a point, although not as bad as St. Lame, but Malik is Captain Cut-n-Paste
-
Kahn, several times, and I never mentioned Sproul. I don't think he's ever going to be more than a 6/7 guy Relatively small, poor defensively, has a shot and not much else, waived multiple times, never going to be an NHL regular. Applies to both of them.
-
Frk is a one trick pony, Pulk 2.0
-
Bertuzzi is hurt, they don't think Svechnikov is ready, PAP or Booth aren't going to hold them back, plus I'd rather have one of them as the 13th guy sitting in the press box than a kid who could be playing in GR instead. I'd still rather have Svechnikov in Detroit, but Holland is going to do his thing

What got me is their owner signed them to those deals then immediately started complaining about having to sign them top those deals and that's why they needed a CBA that helped the owners more
