Are you Tom from Livonia or Sam from Southfield? You remind me of someone on another board. Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk

I think he forgot that a comma is the difference between helping his uncle, Jack, off a horse and helping his uncle Jack off a horse. -

You said he lost, but maybe that's all he could have gotten. If that was the best offer he got, then he didn't lose, we just overestimated Vanek's value. -

So he lost, unless he didn't. Makes perfect sense. Not much reason to think he could have gotten more. GMs know what Vanek is, and he's not a stud. Florida probably needed to move a contract to make room for Vanek. Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk -
Ott traded to Montreal for 6th Round Pick (2018)

I like (insert traded player here) so I'd rather see him in a few more games than get something that might help later. Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk -
Dude, when I need to tell you to relax about Crazy Uncle Kenny you know you've gone off the deep end. The deadline isn't when teams clear space for next year generally, that happens in the offseason. And it's not unreasonable to expect Nyquist and Tatar to rebound assuming Trashill is taken to the curb. Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk

McIlrath started playing pro hockey at 14? The retained salary is irrelevant. They won't need the cap space and it's gone for next year. And that likely is the best offer. Florida probably needed to send a player for contract limit reasons. Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk -
Holland has been crap the last two years. He did well at the deadline. These are not mutually exclusive statements. Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk

Wow people have unrealistic ideas as to what is possible at the deadline. Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk

They need to keep some NHL caliber defensemen, and he might bring more next year as a rental.

Vanek wasn't going to be scoring goals for the Wings next year anyway most likely. Losing him now is meaningless -

The vitriol being spewed here is ridiculous. I'm far from a Holland fan with his moves the last couple years, but you can only get what teams are willing to pay. Unless something comes out that conclusively proves that Holland could have gotten a better deal earlier and he passed, I think it's safe to assume that there wasn't as much interest in Vanek as we thought there might be. I stand by what I said earlier, it's better to get a third for him than keep him and lose him for nothing because they wanted a first instead. -

Go to a Griffins game then, the kid doesn't look like an NHL player -
So you'd rather get nothing? Looking at what other players brought, Holland did well
-
Would you rather get nothing? First round picks don't get moved at the deadline a lot anymore.
-
Players with time left on their deals aren't often moved at the deadline. I wan't expecting Tatar, Nyquist, etc. to be moved. Moving Sheahan would only have been worth it for the right return. As bad as he's been, he's a better player than that. I expect a bounce back if they take out the Trashill. Vanek brought less than expected, but you can only get what other teams are willing to offer and just because the Hawks and Rags were willing to overpay, that doesn't mean everyone was. That said, I think if Holland had been willing to accept less than a first rounder early on, he could have moved Vanek for a second before some of the other forwards were moved.

Been awhile since I had much reason to say Holland did good. Believe it or not I was a "Holland apologist" on red wings central Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk
