He looked very heavy footed coming back there, so I can see how the confusion happened. Ha. Markov looks like he moves in slow motion in some of the highlights I just watched.I don't know where its at right now, but at one point this season p.k. was averaging around 30minutes A night. My nieces are staying at my house this week so i couldn't really watch the game, but I assumed he had been on the ice when the penalty was called, and was left on the ice for the powerplay like ovi used to do... I can't recall where the video was, but it was talking about his shift length, and praising his endurance and it showed two or three instances where he'd be out for >3 minutes at a time and still have the burst to get down the ice... Although if I knew Carey Price was behind me, I'd probably have a hard time viewing a Darren Helm breakaway as a problem I had to bust my ass to fix.

Howard always makes a couple of saves a game that seem like he shouldn't have had a chance to stop them. Then he let's in trashy shots from garbage angles.He's not the most acrobatic goalie(understatement) i think most of his game just relies on him being positionally sound, and when he's on his game his mind is diagnosing where he needs to be fast enough to get him there in time, which is why I think you don't see our guys blocking shots all that much. Hes very practiced at being in the right place at the right time, I think he's just thinking about it too much now. Relying on practice to get into place, instead of his instincts putting him there... He's showing flashes of getting it back, just not fast or steady enough to be confident that hell find it again this year. And Mrazek has that confidence to him, almost cockiness where hell get beat because he's wayyyy too aggressive, but then the next series he does the same thing and makes a crazy save. He has had more than a few troubling games where he let in 3,4,5 goals, but the team was still in those games... When Howard let's in 3 the game is going to get ugly...idk if that's because he jump starts the breakout, or if the team just felt the need to step it up for the adolescent in their net... Butttt He's won at every level, was a huge reason the griffins won the AHL championship, and in the past he's always Rose to the occasion... So even if jimmy was playing above average at this point, I feel like there's be that creeping thought in the back of everyone's mind that petr may be able to be bigger in the bigger moments.... Which is the only reason I think Jimmy's experience/positioning doesn't trump his puck playing, and I can definitely see Mrazeks aggressiveness coming back to bite us.

You had me second guessing myself for a second, first thought was, maybe the lighting just made Markov look really dark. Ha.

The salary cap did seem to screw them, I don't think Willie Mitchell is a game changer but he would've eased the blow of losing voynov for sure.What did they give up for sekac BTW? I don't recall exactly.

Soooo back on topic. If someone would have told me that Helm would go 1/1 on a breakaway vs Carey price I would probably laugh.... But his hands were pretty quick there.... Also. Does anyone know how long subbans shift had been prior to the breakaway?(I assume it was close to 3mins) But PK is pretty damn fast, and he looked like he was standing still.

Bahahaha.Nice. Yeah. I would love to see the pens miss the playoffs, then win the draft lottery, and have to watch as Edmonton uses their pick to get mcdavid. I feel like it would make me hate them less, as that would be hilarious. But on the other hand, knocking them out in the ECF would be pretty satisfying.

gahhhh.I still won't watch replays of it. When it comes up on the Wednesday night rivalry shows, or greatest games countdowns etc, I'll change it before it gets to a point to where they're going to be consistently hinting at it. Ha. And I always say I'm too lazy to hold a grudge, but I'll hate the pens till the day I die for that.

I polished off almost a full fifth of wild turkey with one other person in the final ten minutes. That was one of only a handful of hangovers I regret...

Callahan's out for the season with a torn acl, or else I'd completely agree on that one.And miele deserves a chance at some point, the only problem is his is size. He just strikes me as one of those guys who has enough skill to play in the NHL, but just won't be able to overcome his stature.

I just think they're gonna pass over him and keep developing him down in grand rapids.But it would be nice to see if he can come in and step up when we need goals.

I think he'd be a better option over zidlicky now.Marchenko is just more defensively responsible and covers for smith well. Zid has the experience and puts up the points, but his defensive lapses are not a good thing to have next to Brendan smith.
