Marchenko has been playing just as good as petry, and they have the exact same amount if playoff experience.The small upgrade(if any) petry has over Marchy, imo is not worth a fifth round pick by itself, let alone more. Plus marchenko still has a lot of upside left, he's looked better each and every game he's played. And I'm not even touching the cleary talk. Haha. Cole forgot how to skate in the hours its been since he was traded to us.And honestly, smith hasn't been bad, and I think wed miss his speed, but phaneuf would make us better as long as he hasn't completely checked out already. No.Noone wouldve given us a third rounder for those two right now, so no. They are not worth a third. And in the grand scheme of things, of course jagrs better than cole, he's fifth in all time scoring. But Coles got more points this year, is more physical, and is faster.

Cole is still fast, his skating is most likely his best asset, not helm fast, but he's fast. Janmark would probably never play for us, and even if he did, I've never seen or read anything that puts his ceiling above a 3rd liner. The chances Backman ever played a game for us or even for the griffins was minimal. The second round pick we gave up hurts a little, but if he gets hurt or we don't make the ECF we get a third rounder. This doesn't sound like a bad deal at all.

We gave up a second. But we get our third rounder back. This is seems like a really good deal.
