Putting someone with speed next to Pavel seems to help him though, he doesn't have to chase down pucks constantly, but I don't love the idea of having helm in the top6. Also, Jurco has been playing pretty well lately, it seems like he's getting confident carrying the puck which is good.

If Larkin doesn't hit the scoring wall, no way eichel or domi win it over him, center or not. This will probably just go to the highest scoring rookie, the only reason why people don't view panarin as the obvious choice is because no one knows whether or not the people that decide winners will take into account age, his khl experience, and that he's playing with kane.Domi has a chance, and eichel hasn't been as dominant as they expected so I think that might be held against him too.

I think Ferraro was waived before Andy for a few reasons... 1. Ferraro is not a good face off man. 2. Although Andy is MUCH slower, hes MUCH more consistent defensively and on the pk. 3. Size. Ferraro isn't small, but Andy is a legit 6'2 and may get leveled quite a bit, but he'll take the hit to make the pla These are also reasons why I think Ferraro got claimed, and I think they believed Andy had a higher risk of getting claimed (I don't think he will) than ferraro, but ferraro is younger and his full upside is still TBD at this level, and Boston was desperate for someone like him after the injuries they were dealing with (they just lost their 4th line c/rw for the year who was also their best pk-er. I actually think Andy will clear, and be re-signed and be able to be called back up and down when needed without worrying about being claimed as long as some team doesn't have a plague of injuries...

If we can sign helm sub 3m, then absolutely re-sign him... Maybe the free agent market will play out like it did last offseason, where gms were really frugal and we'll get helm on the cheap. I hope this happens, I like helm, but If it's between him at $4m/4+years or miller at $1.5 for one year you call up Athanasiou and let helm walk...

I completely agree, he messed up when he was off the ice, yet it's brought up more than his plays on ice, which is getting to be annoying. I'll also say this for smith, the past two years he has been our best if not one of our best defenseman. I think it's because he always plays at that speed, and his screw ups always happen because he's always thinking&playing at that pace. Then when the playoffs roll around and everyone ramps up to that level, his mistakes happen less and are less costly because everyone else messes up getting used to the flow and our other players are in better positions/moving faster to cover for him. He's a solid bottom pairing d man, the only thing is we might have better options... Also, people bitching about Ericsson gets annoying too, we get it, he's not the ideal #2 dman, but he's still a solid top 4 guy... People talk about him like he's a fringe NHL player just because his contract is a little too long.

Yeah, Nyquist was with dats tonight, I just don't think they're that good together. They both do better with the puck on the their stick and Nyquist can't play net front, which he ends up doing with Datsyuk him and helm. Jurco Tatar Sheahan was together again tonght, and they were (unsurprisingly) awesome together again. I really wish babs would have left them together when they were playing dominant as a third line.. the chemistry they would have by now would be amazing.

I had more or less the same sentiment, but without trading Larkin for him. He's also right handed, with the potential to be a #1.

They'll miss the playoffs because having jv playing well, and miggy+Sanchez healthy at the same time won't happen... Or it will happen and they'll be good. Idk. I'm not that intuitive when it comes to baseball. Also the hitting lineup looks awesome, but all right hander with the exception of one switch hitter might hurt em,once again, idk. Could go either way.
