I thoroughly enjoy that band.the bassist from the blood brothers wore a wings jersey when they played at the majic stick a while back.(and its not like they were making enough money to buy a jersey from each city) There's quite a few more I know of, but they're basically cheating because the bands are all from Michigan.

@kickazz I want to bash on smith. I want to bash on kindl. But they've been perfectly good 3rd pairing d men this season. The only thing is, I think marchenko defense is the reason why we don't notice as much of their mistakes. I think Marchy is a future top four d man in the mold of oduya, or hjalmarsson from Chicago...not too many points, but a damn rock defensively and in transition. I almost want them to waive one of smith/kindl just to call up sproul, pair him with e(who I think is pretty comparable to marchenko, just bigger and more physical) and tell him to score. Then put Dekeyser with Marchenko on the 3rd pair, and tell him to be a selke caliber 4th forward. Ha. Slightly off topic, but still. And I can't remember for sure, but I think it was McKenzie, said Mrazek could become as good as Carey price is for Montreal. The kids ceiling is that high, for sure, and I pray he becomes that and we still have a decently well rounded team. As for the sv% and gaa, I was going to post a stat about Mrazeks last 3 games, compared to Howards last 5, but I figured I'd wait until the sample size was a bit larger before I posted it... But I think you're correct. Howards just not as good 1on1, but he's still a really damn solid goalie. -

If Howard would have made that save with his glove behind his back, it would've been a candidate for save of the year. But he missed completely, so it just looks hilarious. I think on breakaways/shootouts, instead of stopping around the hash marks before backing in, Howard should just keep skating out to meet the player at around the top of the circles, and attempt to Kronwall them. It'll surprise at least 25% of them, which should raise his save% in those situations.rawfulmayo he'll connect with at least 5%, another 5% for broken sticks, falling skaters, & whiffed shots. The "you got Howar'd©®" chants will be sweet too. But for real. I don't understand why we keep blowing leads in the last few minutes of the game, but I wish that would stop. Still ecstatic with the points streak though. Whether or not they seem in sync most of the game, they're starting to click more and more. And when they do, our offense is lethal. Also need to work on the forward trailing behind dropping back to cover for the d man in on the rush, but its getting better. -
Ha. I don't think he's plucking them bad boys, aside from the man-hours that would take, there's that glare just around em'. Like when you catch a girl in between them getting waxed, and the time they shower So the only make-up less/hairless part of their face is reflecting light. Ha. Homie had a spa day.

Ha. Its pretty damn cringeworthy though.Still. It could be worse. At least these antics are kept to our AHL affiliate. https://youtu.be/rDDRzOEhkoI

Penguins Fire Head Coach Mike Johnston
jimmyemeryhunter replied to jimmyemeryhunter's topic in General
Defense. They went and got kessel instead of finding a steady blue liner, when they needed at least two. They expected a rookie to be in the top four immediately, and the rest of the top four is all injury prone. Fleurys a solid goalie, he just seems to lose confidence really fast in the playoffs. There offense looks stacked, especially compared to that d. A goalie can only do so Much(unless your name is Carey Price, apparently.) I don't know the numbers now, but at one point they were doing a decent enough job defensively, but struggling to score. Yeah, needing to score more goals you'd think they'd be playing the guy that scored 30 goals on the Nashville predators when they were offensively starved. That's probably one of the reasons Johnston was fired. -

Its pretty shocking to see the lineup, and see them struggling offensively, yet doing seemingly fine defensively. -
Jeff Blashill = Dave Lewis 2.0 / Coaching Change
jimmyemeryhunter replied to The Secret's topic in General
I wanted to post the hfboards "fireblashill" thread and say, well at least we didn't have a thread dedicated to getting rid of Blash only a few weeks into the season... then I remember what thread I was posting in. Ha. The team seems to be coming together, I was worried for a bit that some of our players needed a coach like babs to push them, but as long as we continue trending upward as a team, I think blash has a decent shot at the Jack Adams. -
Patrick Kane's point streak reaches 25 games
jimmyemeryhunter replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
No matter what happened, I wish it were handled much more professionally. And I hate Kane, but the chemistry between him and Panarin(and to a lesser extent Anisimov) is really fun to watch. If/when he breaks the record, he needs to be buying those two something fabulous. -
I haven't been through Baltimore in a while, but if you're comfortable there, you have absolutely nothing to fret about in Detroit. The area right there hasn't been as bad as its been made out to be for as long as I can remember. But like kickazz said, make sure your GPS is pre-programmed, because there are still some places 4/5 turns away from that area I'd be hesitant to roll through with a small(ish)child. I'd definitely take the tunnel from the Joe and only cross the border once, or you could always just stay at one of the hotels in Detroit and cross the border in the morning. Most the hotels down there will have secure overnight parking included in(or for a small extra fee) with the cost of the room. Hope you guys have a good time! Edit:If you get out there in time for a small wait and a full sit down meal, I'd recommend Slows bbq. It is ridiculously delicious, I've been there probably 20 times and everything I tried was very, very good.

You are correct on those needing to pass through waivers next season. Its been said many times, that there needs to be a trade here and there, but every time it seems like the f.o. will be forced to make a hard decision, another injury pushes that decision back further. And trading quantity for quality really doesn't happen, so chances are were going to lose at least one of these guys to waivers. At this point any trade wed make would have to be for picks, then we could always package the picks up for an asset, (which would seem more likely in the case for buff) but I guess we could always come into next season with 8 d men instead of a 14th forward.

Patrick Kane's point streak reaches 25 games
jimmyemeryhunter replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
I figured the scoring streak would've happened against him, not for him...ba dum tss Had this summers transgressions not have occurred, I would've agreed, but for now I'd rather Crosby have it till Larkin beat it in the next few years. It was a good one liner, but I laughed just as hard at the HA CHA CHA part. Ha. -

Alright.Down to business first. Zetterberg put his hand on the puck in the faceoff circle, (which is a penalty automatically now) and the replay on the tying goal for goalie interference, it looked like the guys stick(can't recall his name right now) may have hit Howie's blocker and/or stick. On the replay they showed, it didn't look that way at all. My guess was the wings were trying to cash in on the rash of poor choices referees have made when a challenge has been made for goalie interference, and just came out on the wrong side of the coin flip this time. And as for the rest of the comments, I appreciate the tales from the game, always fun being regaled by stories from away barns. But yeah, did that woman seem like she was just trying to rib you in A good natured type of way? Or drunk enough that her knowledge of the NHL/Colorado lore was the last facet of her motor skills that were functioning properly? Cuz Im guessing she probably had quite a bit to drink, especially if her son was smart enough to show a level of shame that expressive without speaking. ha. Or was she a mob wives/jersey shore afficianado(I heard that attribute skips a generation, Hahaha) Also, were you wearing a draper jersey? Or even a grind liners jersey? Maltby? McCarty? Ha. awesome pictures BTW too, once again, Thanks for the share man. Edit: Do you know what they call a quarter pounder in France? -

Nyquist isn't a liability, but he's no Marian Hossa, but he should not be the most defensively responsible person on the ice during the final seconds of ot.We got a point, and extended the point streak, which is good. I wish we would've gotten two, but the wings have played muchh better lately. Well, better may not be the right word, but at least more consistent, which is good. -

But yeah, Nyquist/Tatar were good tonight, but I wouldn't have them out with less than a minute left in it, with ONE defenseman, when were facing a team with so few skilled players. -

I'm actually fine with him in grand rapids, the only players he's pushing down to Toledo are ones that I don't see having a future here anyway. As much as I'd like Frk to get going and prove not to be a bust, its his own fault if he doesn't beat out someone else.(not specific to Frk, any player who cleary is "keeping off the griffs rosters") We have a lot of good prospects not in the NHL still, but the cabinet is nowhere near as full as it was three years ago. (Aside from the defense, which I'm hoping the new coach will be able to turn a few into gold) The vets down in grand rapids are great AHL vets, but we don't stock the team full of them. We use grand rapids as a development stop for the NHL, so having someone who has succeeded in the NHL teaching them, would seem to be a better choice than AHL lifers.(important as they may be) I was genuinely asking for what's going on him with down there, not trying to sh*t on him, so thanks for the info Andy and krsmith. Also, just fwiw, I wish he would have retired before this year, because its painful to watch injuries/decline in play push him to where he's at, but if he wants to keep playing hockey, more power to him. His rep has just taken a huge hit after those "handshake agreement" contracts, which is sad to see. He was a warrior for us, and from all accounts a generally good guy off the ice.(to fans, not just his locker room presence)

One goal leads late in the game, and shootouts make me nervous when Howards in, but I still feel more comfortable with Howard in a lot of situations. If Mrazek let's in a bad goal, there's still that thought in my mind that he's having an off night.(which hasnt really happened this season) Howard on the flip side is usually good for one questionable one, but he'll be solid after it usually. Either way, I'm really happy our goaltending has been at this level. Its good to see. And @echolalia the goalie switch thing makes me nervous, stretching seems more important to goalies. So I don't know what the numbers would say about who's better and all that, but could you imagine some of the saves they make with a tight groin. Ouch. And I wouldn't want one of our guys to go down, the backup situation behind Mrazek/ Howard makes me nervous.(although I do think Coreau will be a serviceable NHL backup some day.) -
Hahaha. So cringeworthy.
