I think they let ovi have the wide open shots because they trusted mrazek to make the save if he could see it. And he did. Fifteen times. The defense cleared the front of the net, and didn't allow too many second chances. Either the game plan to let Mrazek see his shots worked perfectly, or the defense failed. But I think they just let him have the clear path so Mrazek didn't have to worry about deflections or seeing his shot. That strategy seems to be working really well out in Montreal. As for the goal. It sucks. Its a complete disregard for common sense, but that's technically the right call. The only shots that show the puck in the net doesn't show where it is in correlation to the red line. But they need to fix that. And im sure they will. In a few years.

Before today, Howards stats were better.Its not cut and dry, and having the one two punch is pretty cool.

it was, IMO, his best game since coming back.And when they play like that against the top line in the league, its definitely not a demotion in the normal sense of that. But if our line up was where it should be with the talent we have, helm would be destroying the talent like that normally. So this is good. Blashill sees what he has. From what I saw, aa moved up and helm got demoted.That's when you seen helm start to turn into a wrecking ball. I wish i could find a gift, but helm coming back and stealing the puck in the offensive zone amid a flurry of his ice spray was a beautiful photo opportunity. I want athanasiou to be developed properly, and I don't want him to be in the position Jurco is, but if he can push helm into being a better player then it will be worth keeping him here. His speed is too good to ruin him completely anyway. He played awesome today.

I'm not mad at spezza for the knee on Howard. He clearly didn't mean it, and tried to avoid it by lifting his leg, but it ended up making it worse. Things like this happen, hockey is a really physical game, whatever. But the refs not blowing the whistle after it isn't acceptable, or in any way defendable. I'm upset with the way things went with hemskys hit, but I'm glad e hit him in the face a few times. Whether or not people agree, people don't take liberties when he's on the ice without paying for it somehow. And when he backs off its smart because we end up with a pp out of it. I wish he played physical every game, but he truly doesn't deserve the flak that he gets around here.
