Who asked who you wanted? Why is this guy still here? Anyone got an answer?
-
Go away. Seriously, just go away.
-
Why are you even on a Red Wing's fansite partner? The Pittsburgh boards are elsewhere.
-
Ya Pittsburgh draws. They were quite ready to fold up shop altogether before fortuitously being presented with a 2nd 1st overall pick. Anyhow, how about Washington at NY Rangers at Giants stadium?

Penguins bashing thread(keep it within the site rules please)

Crosby smells. -
^^ Colby Armstrong! Stempniak is a softy and Afinogenov is past it. Armstrong has a toughness about him and has really matured. No question if it were between those 3 it needs to be him.

Red Wings GM Ken Holland hasn't given up on wandering Jiri Hudler

I'm not gonna lie, we need Huds and I for one would love to have him back. -
Kromwall is your prototypical bruiser defenceman. Something I believe we haven't had since Konstantinov (Fischer was close). He has the ability to make open ice hits like no one's business. His offensive abilities are good, he can move the puck and he isn't a slow skater. But he isn't going to get 50-60pts every year IMO but he CAN make the good first pass under pressure. Ericsson is bigger, but not as heavy hitting. He's got a better shot than Kronner and I have the feeling watching him is a better positional player and has the "it" for maturing into a premiere defenceman with regards to his smarts and his ability to learn, something I see much more in him than in Kronwall. Is he going to be better? Yes I believe that in the long run Ericsson has a larger potential in terms of being a student of the game at BOTH ends of the ice. His composure, especially for his age reminds me of another Swedish defenceman we drafted years ago who's calm demeanor is exactly like he plays under pressure; cool, and collected.

Holland "Not Optimistic" about re-signing Hossa
T.OWingsFan replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
Bye bye Marian. I'm not dissapointed myself. Can't pay a guy who didn't show up when we needed him that kind of money. Better to spend it on our own players from our own system who've bleed and won here (Huds for one). -
-
I agree. If he couldn't 'get it up' being one of only a few healthy top 2 line players in Detroit playing his former club in the final, he's not worth 6 million per and we can't afford him at that. So long Marian. I wish you well brother but we're tight up against it and can spend that money better elsewhere.
-
Fact is we're looking for a goal scorer to play with our numerous playmakers. Hossa did 40 goals worth of it during the season, but only 6 when it mattered most. Could be all the pressure, but hey, it ain't easy in the playoffs and Detroit is a playoff team. Heatley is as good a goal scorer in his days but the problem is, he's seems like an *******. Marian is by all accounts a top fellow but dissapears at times. Pros and cons. The Sens would have to eat some of his salary and I doubt Murray is gonna be doing that. Not gonna happen. Hossa is an easier-cheaper option and one which won't destroy dressing room chemistry.

Ian will not come. Legace, Bertuzzi and Dandylion have all been here and not worked. Pahlsson is interesting. A great shutdown centre, but we're very deep in that position and I think Burke in Toronto will go after him. He'd be nice to have IMO and the only one on that list worth a try here, but where would he play? Move Helm and Draper to the wing with Pahlsson at centre? THAT would be a great shutdown line and 2nd PK unit. But no room at centre. Chad Larose is a great worker and would look nice on Helm's line. The rest no thanks.

+1 Cheli was awesome to have. His last best legs were in 2007, especially when Kronner and Schneider went down, but the guy won 2 cups here, and was a great addition to the dressing room for 10 years. Here's to Cheli my Greek brother!
-
Flip is a bonafied 2nd line centre and very young, not to mention one of our draft picks. Nope. Hudler though is a type of player we have alot of.

Who still hates Anaheim more than Pittsburgh? Or is this now the de-facto rivalry for us? You tell me because while I despise The Boy King, I don't really have a hate on for Malkin or the rest (even though I think Malkin is dirty). But there's just something about the Quacks. Am I alone?
-
Crosby is 8.7 Malkin is 8.7 Staal is 4.0 Fleury is 5.0 Gonchar is 5.0 Orpik is 3.7 For us Datsyuk 6.7 Zetterberg 6.0 Franzen 3.9 Lidstrom 7.4 Rafi 6.0 Stuart 3.7 Those are the most significant ones.
-
Fine words man, thank you. Hopefully Sather can put a team out there next season to try and challenge Pittsburgh.
-
I'd like to blame Stuart for the 1st goal, and Osgood for the 2nd goal, but the fact of the matter is the team took their foot off the pens' throats when they were up 3-2 and that was a team effort. That said, Stuart did not have a good series.

is it possible that was truly all the wings had left?

Fact is an inferior roster who comes out and PLAYS for 60 minutes (or at least the first 40) can be better than a better roster who only plays for the last 20 like Detroit did the last 2 games. Yes they were injured. Yes they were tired. But. This team is still built to win the cup. We need some minor tweeks and a couple of additions like big body down low on defence, God I can't believe I'm saying it but we missed Lilja. -
Babs said he learned alot from that Oilers series and wanted his skilled team to play a similar defensive game. Ironically that series was probably the best thing to happen to this franchise in the 4 years after they won in 2002. And remember how BLEAK it looked? Shanny gone. Yzerman gone. No Feds. No goaltending. Wow the more things change the more they stay the same.
-
Guerin and Tkachuk? You've GOT to be kidding me. I thought we left these types of guys back in '06 when we got dealt with by Edmonton. We've a boatload of youngins ready to step up and the "old" guy Hossa and the 20 something Hudler. Why in Gods name would be load up on guys who are like in age and abilities to the legend Shanny that we let walk 3 years ago?
-
Sami, Chelios are gone for sure. Kopecky MIGHT go. That leaves only Hudler and Hossa. If Hossa comes in at under $6 million as reported, perhaps not more than $5, its do-able provided Hudler takes a long term deal too.

Doctors are NOT supposed to reveal patient information. Its just WRONG. And I don't buy it TBH.
