Man are u frakking dumb? That call and that Son of a Bit** gave the quacks a 2-1 advantage in the series. Are you dense? Is that good?

Greg Johnson played for Detroit in the early 90s. Had to retire in 2006 right after he signed with us because of a bad EKG exam.

What's Datsyuk's pt totals on the road in the playoffs vs at the Joe? He's always better on the road and I saw him getting better as game 2 wore on. He needs to turn it up.
-
He got his name on the cup and then took off and hasn't been seen since. Anyone know whatever happend to Jason Wooley? He's was like the pre-Brad Stuart. Actually Holland has a history of trade deadline D line depth moves. Cory Cross comes to mind (ugh). I liked Wooley his first season in Detroit.

Interesting if somewhat misguided thread. Cleary has lots of fight and is getting on the score sheet regularly. See that back pass he made to Z when he was on his ass which led to the Franzen tying goal last game for instance? There's only 1 guy not producing on that line and he doesn't hail from Newfoundland.

Leino-Helm-Draper for the 4th line.
-
I remember Freddy Olausson was our #2 dman. We can win, but we need our guys to step up and we need to stop giving up goals in bunches. And no matter what anyone says, that was a horrible goal to give up.
-
I agree. Stuart and Lids on the point on the 1st PP unit would. Gotta ride the hot hand and Stuart's been hot.
-
Kopecky or Maltby. Both are ineffective. Helm and Drapes is one hell of a fast line. Can cause alot of damage.

Ya I miss Lilja's looking into the sky at God while we fish the puck out of our own net. The problem with Lilja is he doensn't play like a big man. I remember Roberts chasing him into the corner and Lilja's got this terrified look on his face, gets levelled and the puck squirts loose for a Pittsburgh goal. He was like a deer in headlights. Rafalski we miss no doubt about it.
-
Perhaps he is arrogant but I also think he's got a point. Dats, Z and Hossa draw so much attention allowing guys like Franzen, Hudler, Sammy et all to produce. Nevertheless, we need some goals from these 3 and quick.

Good thread, but please understand somethings. -A terrible goal to give up for Osgood in triple OT. No excuses. The team played well but that was a hell of a deflating goal for the guys and an inflating one for Anaheim. I mean frakkin Marchant wrister top shelf? Weak. The only saving grace for Osgood is that Hiller let in a stinker too, but the difference was he got better as the game progressed. -Datsyuk, Hossa and Z better get on the score sheet in a big way. They've been playing OK, but merely OK. We're 1-1 in the series on the strength of our secondary and tertiary scorers and Lids. Getzlaf's line is in on almost all of their goals. We need our best players to match. I felt that their displays in the OTs was better than its been in the series thus far, so I hope its a good sign, but they need to score. I appreciate their defence, but they simply need to score. -We need Rafalski back. NOW. ASAP. God why is it we're always shorthanded on the blueline when we play these guys? With Rafalski back we get that right handed shot back there that we need when they mark Lidstrom. -Draper's speed is needed by the Helm-Maltby line. I'd be inclined to sit Malts as he hasn't shown anything on that line and put Drapes with Helm and Kopecky. That line was IMO our best and in a long series against Anaheim's top line which plays alot of minutes (you saw Get's line was less effective as the game got longer) out 4th line and its speed can really expose them IMO. I gotta be honest with you, without these changes and some big saves from Osgood I don't know if we can do this. Either way IMO this is the western conference (maybe Cup) right here. Its gonna go 6 games MINIMUM I believe, maybe seven. Also to note and the commentators noticed it too: Anaheim ALWAYS entered our zone through the right side. I hope Babs saw this too and will make some adjustments to make it harder for them.

Great playoffs so far, but has showed his inexperience at times, especially tonight. Another season or two and he'll be a stud.

why can't the NHL have a salary cap like baseball?
T.OWingsFan replied to FLWINGSFAN4013's topic in General
The quickest and easiest way to keep "parity" (whatever this means, as it seems that these small market teams still can't hack it anyhow) and keep the existing salary cap is simply to institute the franchise player rule. Whereby a team gets to keep 1 of its players' salary off the books as a franchise player. This will allow every team to hold on to that 1 indispensible piece without it counting against the cap. -
Lidstrom-Rafalski Kronwall-Ericsson Fisher-Stuart What could have been. I'm worried about our bad luck with our tough defencemen. Good luck to Jonathan I hope it never touches him.

Vote dammit! Kipper is running away with this because of the Calgary homers.

WCQF GAME 1 GDT: Blue Jackets 1 at Red Wings 4
T.OWingsFan replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Osgood may have his rough games, and even his rough years, but what people don't understand about him (mostly non Red Wing fans) is that the guy is a WARRIOR. He doesn't posses the natural ability or skill of a Roy or Brodeur, and this has meant he's had to work x10 as hard to keep a job in the NHL. Whereas other goalies of a similar "skill set" (shall we say) have had their okay and even good runs and then fallen off into the abyss and out of the NHL, Ozzie, even when down and out gets RIGHT BACK UP and dusts himself off, works hard and gets right back into the mix. This is what I mean by WARRIOR. He isn't intimidating or physically tough, but he BATTLES for every success he's had and for every minute he plays. He's a strong willed individual. He looks like the kid next door, even in his late 30s, but man does he have determination. The guy is the blue collar/working man's goalie. And as a reward he will have his place rightfully so in the HOF when he retires and his jersey in the Joe's rafters, after winning another Stanley Cup this season. -
Okay so by my math, Sammy, probably Hudler and another guy are gonna have to go. But all in all that's not a bad trade off for Franzen-Hossa-Dats-Zet. I've thought for a while that Jiri especially would make nice trade bait, especially with the season he's having.
-
What did you want him to do? There is no cap space. We have contracts and big decisions coming soon. There's no room. No goalie is out there which is a significant step up from Ozzie-Conky. We have too many defenceman than we do roster spots. Our scoring forwards are all good with Z-D-H-F-Homer. We might have used a sandpaper type of guy but we have Downey. We don't need anything that some practice and confidence won't fix.
-
I agree. A sandpaper guy would be nice but we have Downey. We don't need additions.
-
Guerin hasn't been good for a number of years. Besides, the Pens already have a has-been on the team. His name is Satan.
-
Make a trade for the sake of trading is not a good idea my friend. If he can land a Roberts on the cheap, good move. Otherwise perhaps a goalie for a right price and no long term contract obligations.
-
If his salary vs the cap can be negotiated into a very favourable circumstance, I would love to have Schneids back for a year or two. We miss his rocket shot and a defence consisting of Lids, Raf, Kron and Schneids would be amazing.

First 60-minute game of the season for our boys?
T.OWingsFan replied to Manny>Ozzie(by a long shot)'s topic in General
This was the first game this season where Red Wing hockey came out. Good to see. On a side note, even not playing to their full, only 2 losses in regulation and an 8-1-1 road record is fantastic. After tomorrow night it will be only 7 games at home and 11 on the road. This is very important because the key games right before the playoffs will be at the JLA, so hopefully the guys can save their strength for the loads and loads of travelling to come in April/May. -
Good ol slew foot Malkin. At least Lemieux had a right to complain when he played in Pittsburgh. I'd be pissed off too if I always had 2 guys climbing on me 24/7 like he did when he played. The Kid and the Slew are not treated like this, and complain 10x more. Its all funny considering the PP favours the refs/Bettman gave them during the playoffs last season, especially against Detroit in the finals.
