Last season Detroit made the Western Conference Finals with a depleted lineup (no Schneider or Kronwall). They were within 47 seconds of going up 3-1 on Anaheim in the series when a fortuitous bounce off Lidstrom's stick (out of all people!) ties the game and with guys like Lilja having to log minutes because of 2 of the top 4 dmen being injured, well....do the math. So Anaheim, which was a VERY emotional series (including a 5-0 blowout and a Pronger suspension) ends and Anaheim wins the cup. Then Burke signs Matt Schneider and Todd Bertuzzi from Detroit. Granted Bertuzzi didn't do much of anything here, but basically this was Shawn Matthias going *bye bye* for Wings fans. Hard to take but we never complained that much. Schneids was an integral part of our blueline for years. His rocket of a shot a powerplay speciality for us. And he goes to the team that beat us to win the cup. Hard pills but we never complained as much as Pit fans have with Hossa. It seems winning all these #1 picks has made Lemieux and his fans accustomed to getting their way. My advice to Pit fans would be to leave Hossa to do his own thing and just thank your lucky stars you lucked out and were awarded Crosby and Malkin.

Get rid of: -Florida -Carolina -Nashville Add instead: -Quebec City -Seattle -Winnipeg

Quality post. I totally agree. Nothing personal but he's brutal and if we can make a step up from him we should.

Anymore than 2 million for Stuart is a bad deal.

We have NO cap space. Wings need to save room for Zs longterm deal and Franzen. Ericcson, Quincey, Helm, Kindl, Howards, perhaps Grigs and Leino. We got enough in the pipeline to work with but guys to sign up and make sure to keep em Red Wings for years and years to come (Z+Franzen).

He makes mistakes ALL the time. Ohhhh if Kenny wants to keep him, then it will be one of the few (and YES there HAVE been a FEW) of his mistakes. And eva unit zero, Lebda is 1000x better than Stuart and picking his spots to rush up. He doesn't get caught going for the big hit and missing like Stuart nor is he perpetually with his head up in the air after making a stupid play in the corner to loose a puck like Lilja. He does make mistakes but has the speed and hussle to get back and correct then if he does. Off the top of my head Stuart has a few goals against us from bonehead plays this playoffs, Lebda not.

Still there? What did I mean when I said Lilja and Stuart are the 2 odd men out and have no place in this team because they don't have the brain's to play like defencemen we need? Well look last night. Lilja getting spooked by Roberts chasing him leads to goal #3, while Stuart's beautiful giveaway pass to the feet of a white jersey leads to goal #1. He's garbage. Makes a mistake EVERY shift. It should be Lebda and Kronwall for the 2nd pairing and Lilja and Stuart should play maybe 5 mins a night total.

This just in from period 1 of Game 6 vs Dallas. Stuart is brutal. 1 botched keep in at the line leads to a Dallas break. 1 late hit interference penalty and 1 step up to make a hit (which he missed) which leads to a 2 on 1 for Dallas. Meanwhile Lebda makes a few nice clears from the zone, takes the puck down low which leads to a Drake goal. Lilja and Stuart are the odd men out in this D. The core is and should be/stay Nik, Rafalski, Kronner and Lebda. That 4 has puck movement/passing, speed and hitting. Cheli is gonna retire and Lilja should be moved. Stuart........GOD don't even THINK about resigning him.

You guys still wanna keep this guy for 3.5 million? He's brutal. Always makes mistakes. He doesn't fit into the Detroit defenceman mold. Lebda is worth 2x Stuart.

No they don't. Dallas is about defence. We can beat em but they are the only team in the NHL which can give the Wings a run.

I'M watching. Are you? He makes stupid decisions up front, (especially in the Nashville series). Where you guys think this clown is worth 3.5 million is beyond me. NO upside other than what looks like a decent shot (which he never puts to use). Lebda is faster and smarter with the puck (and more safe) in his decision making. Lilja is a writeoff so there's no sense in comparing him to that guy. Chelios has some ruff time this last series but he's injured and has still been better overall in the playoffs as a whole. Stuart can't pass worth a damn and wants to be a pinching defenceman when he doesn't have the speed or the smarts of even Lebda to do either. Let him walk ASAP. For example a more physical less mistake prone defenceman in Markov wanted about 2-2.5 million per and we let him walk. If Holland re-signs Stuart to that money, well s***e..... :thumbdown:

Stuart has been atrocious in the playoffs for us I honestly don't know why some people would want him back. Only Lilja has been worse back there for us. He always steps up and either misses the puck or his man. He's got a good shot, something we could use but he never wants to use it. Let him and Lilja go and bring Markov back from Russia.

Big deal. 1 moron. The rest seem a knowledagable bunch. Myself I've nothing but respect for Dallas (and especially Turco, Modano and Morrow). Zubov is also a top 5 defenceman, who unfortunately has to play in a time with Lidstrom. He's their Nik and he's a hell of a D-man. Zubov and Markov from Montreal don't get their due. Instead all the time about Pronger and Niedermayer.

I care. Dallas, Colorado, San Jose and Ottawa in the east have ALL gotten markedly better thus far. We are burdened with injuries and actually NEED the impact players NOW and have nothing as of yet other than D-Mac. If I hear one more guy say something about "who cares" etc, I'm gonna loose it so enough. You homers out there with the 'Holland can't do no wrong' attitude need to be quite and be realistic. The reason we got hossed on Bertuzzi last season was because Holland waited until the last hour to make a deal. When prices will become inflated for whoever is left. Wrong play.

Only defenceman I would want from Buffalo is Ludman. Campbell at anything over 4 million is a ripoff. But some team will pay it. After crying poor and bringing in the cap, some real geniuses will be there to inflate Campbell's salary like many others before him. I mean if Brian McCabe is making 6 million Campbell wants at least that, with no trade clauses (ie all the fixins) included of course.

He sung that tune already once, I won't be lured into listening to it again. Either way he owes us fans nothing, and has given his all to the Wings. But alittle truthfulness couldn't hurt.

I'm alittle hurt. In the summer Bowman was telling us Red Wings fans that nothing was up. Why lie Scotty? And why even flirt with that loser organization? I hope the jaded experience he had with them shows him how well it is being with the Wings. The rest of the NHL ain't like Detroit. Besides, why should Scotty go with his resume (!!!) to some Leaf board members? He's forgotten more about hockey today than they will all ever know put together, x100. The LAUGHS are just that; LAUGHS.

I've said it since last June. -Wings NEED a second line centre BAD. -He signed a 1 year deal in Toronto, re-negotiating a 2 year deal down to this one in the process. -He has never won a cup and it is no secret he personally believes this would be the ultimate (better than Sweden winning Gold). -He's bruised with all the seasons leading the craptastic Leafs under his belt, and would leave or sign as a UFA for a contender. Of which the Wings are one. -He does have loyalty to the Laughs fans and would not go to the Senators. That pretty much rules our the East considering there are no other real powerhouses there. So a contender in the West would be an ideal choice. With the collapse of the Dinks, the Wings appear to be the only powerhouse here. -He knows alot of Wings and would probably love to compete for a contender to really have a chance to win a cup with guys like Lidstrom, Zetterberg and Holmstrom. -Wings have the room to make a move for him in March should the Laughs be out of the playoff picture. -He would not have to be the go to guy like in Toronto and this would ease him abit so he could relax alittle more. In Toronto he's the main dude on a s***ty team. In Detroit he's one of the crew. 2nd line centerman (and what a 2nd liner he would be!). Dregs knows what he says it all fits perfectly. I've said it since last summer. Watch and see.

Because of the whole 11 games we're into the season he's a bum and good riddance? Hope he has another chance next year. A real chance.
